JOE KUBERT by Francesco Francavilla
~~ Click on the images for biggie ~~
We are dedicating some time to honor and tribute 2 great Masters of Comics and Illustration who have left us in this past couple of weeks: JOE KUBERT and SERGIO TOPPI.
I can't even come close to say how much these two artists have influenced the way I draw, the way I ink, and the way I compose a page or a panel. For that, I will forever be in their debt.
Here's my tribute to Joe.
Planning to do one for Sergio soon.
For more about Joe's incredible body of work and legacy:

KETCHUP! by tom fowler
hey kids, welcome to ketchup week!
as many of you may have gleaned over the last few months, we twartists are often pestered by the need to make money at our other jobs (and eat and sleep and other unimportant stuff like that) and therefore are not always around to contribute*. for that reason we've decided to designate this week as a time to catch up with twarts we've missed or weren't happy with the first time around. enjoy! (or else...)
two for now but hopefully i'll be able to fill out this post with a couple more in the coming week.
first, jonny quest:
i always loved jonny growing up simply because it was just about the most hardcore thing a kid could watch. children are shot at every week and people DIE! it would definitely get your young heart pumping on a saturday morning at 6:30 am.
for those wondering where bandit is i'll say only this: the only person who hated the dog more than me was doug wildey.
second, hawkman:
done right he's just full-on bad-ass. it probably goes without saying that i drew this right after my frazetta piece
*(except for francesco who seems to have discovered a way to slow down time through a combination of caffeine and satan worship...)

HAWKMAN by Chris Samnee
My Hawkman sketches always show him in a pretty sour mood. I think, after years of growing up with a falconer for a father, my frustration with birds of prey may have bled over onto our guy Carter Hall here. Sorry buddy. I still think you're a great character... it's just the creatures that you get your namesake from that I have a problem with ;P
Oh, and here's a shot of my Pop, lookin' all badass with one of his bird pals :)
HAWKMAN by Urbanbarbarian
Alright, here's my quick Hawkman sketch! I love this character and wish I could of put more effort into a finished piece instead of just a head shot. Nevertheless, his overall design is so cool that I'm inspired to draw him some more. Maybe I'll start a Hawkman series of blog posts on www.urbanbarbarian.com

What can I say: I LOVE drawing this guy :D
Thanks to Ron Salas for picking it as topic for this week.
I did a couple of rough when I heard the topic: I am gonna post those later on my blog.
Hope you guys dig it :)

Francesco

HAWKMAN by Declan Shalvey
BOOM! Got to post before Francesco 'always-posts-first-on-a-Monday-cuz-i'm-so-great' Francavilla, for once.
Anyhoo, nice one to Ron who suggested the first proper superhero. This is honestly my first time drawing Hawkman, so i'm not sure if this is the right version of him or anything. Hope ye like.
