ASTERIX by Ron Salas

I'm glad Tom picked Asterix for the week's topic 'cause I always knew I should read Asterix but never had the reason to. I'm glad he did 'cause it's fantastic! I love the humour and the political and social commentary Goscinny and Uderzo manage to put into each tale.

Uderzo is an amaazing cartoonist and I'm going to try to track down more of his stuff. I love it a lot. However, I couldn't get into my own take on Asterix until I thought of Jack Davis. So this is my version on that.

Looking the jpeg, the colours unforuntately didn't scan quite right but I'm letting it go. Hope you all like it.

ASTERIX by Andy Kuhn

Asterix......never read it, don't know nothin' about it.
Uderzo is a pretty great cartoonist though!
Thanks for looking.

* I just realized two days after posting this drawing that I
was subconsciously ripping off Chris Samnee.
All apologies, Chris.
I looked at your drawing when it was posted
but not since. Looking at it now, I'm ashamed of the
insane similarity between our two poses.
Sorry. :(

ASTERIX by Mr. Hawthorne

I know Asterix is a Gaul, and not a Viking. I just couldn't get this image out of my head. Sorry.

Pencils on my blog.

ASTERIX by Evan Shaner

Preparing for this week's theme I went and picked up a bunch of Asterix books from the library, one of them being Asterix and Cleopatra. Considering that they both had a book set in Egypt I thought I'd try to connect my piece this week to last week's Tintin theme. Of course, chronologically this doesn't make any sense, but I thought it'd be fun to see the other side of the pillar from the Tintin piece. Above is the Asterix side by itself, which stands along okay, but was set up mostly in reaction to Tintin.

I merged the two, but I can't seem to post a nice quality version of it here because of the layout restrictions. Feel free to check it out at this link-- Tintin meets Asterix.

I had a blast learning about these characters, another great pick, Tom!

ASTERIX by Francesco Francavilla

ASTERIX: The Island
(highly suggested to click on the above image for a really bigger view :))

I am running a LOST themed week over my blog, so to keep it on topic I decided to give to Asterix a LOST twist :)

I present you : THE ISLAND
aka: "I will find a loophole, Jacobix, and when I find it, I will kill you and get off this rock" :)

Hope you enjoy it and please check my blog for the LOST Week Marathon :)

Cheers,
Francesco

ASTERIX by tom fowler

...it should probably go without saying that i think asterix is the greatest thing ever, and by extension albert uderzo one the greatest cartoonists of his generation.

these are facts.

i decided to do a second piece along the lines of what i did with my tintin twart. perhaps not as successfully though...

cheers...

ASTERIX by Chris Samnee

Since I'm sure Fowler is going to knock his version of Asterix & Obelix into orbit I wanted to be sure to get mine posted early this week... so I don't have such a hard act to follow. :)

Can't wait to see what all my fellow twartists come up with for this latest theme!! This was a ton of fun!!
