My Mom is off to holiday "down under" in less than 2 weeks.  She and a friend are off to visit New Zealand and Australia for a month so I thought I'd make a fun card to send her so it arrives in her mailbox when she gets home.
I had SO much fun masking and air brushing this little beauty.  You wouldn't believe it but I used 33 Copic colours for this one!

To begin the process I cut a piece of Classic White Cardstock as my base and then stamped my little camper image from the "S'more Fun" stamp set using Memento "Black Tuxedo" ink.  Then I stamped and created a mask for the camper and applied it right over my stamped image.  I added a simple mask just below the camper again to help create a skyline.

Then I took a variety of shades of Copic Markers (G20, V12, BV11, BV13, B93 and B97) and air brushed them all over my sky, leaving the green tone towards to the bottom to create a "glow".

Then I took some white acrylic paint, added a bit of water, and used an old toothbrush to splatter on some stars!  Awww.... love that effect and so easy to achieve!

Then I peeled off the masks and coloured my little camper setting and foreground.  I used the following Copic Markers:
B0000, BG11, BV25, BV29, BV31, E08, E13, E31,
E33, E34, E47, G000, G00, G20, G21, G24, T1-6,
Y000, Y15, Y21, Y23, YG21, YR0000 and YR000.

To finish it off, I stamped the sentiment "Welcome Home" from the "On the Porch" stamp set along with some fun chevrons from the "So Distressed" stamp collection.

I wrapped my panel with a thin black ribbon, added the silver star stickers and adhered it to a Classic Clack Cardstock card base.

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you'll join in and check out the rest of my fellow design team members' creations today...

Head on over to see our Designers inspiration for you to take a peek at this week using some of the items still available!
Have fun shopping -- and don't forget the code GAMBLERS20 -- remember that once these items are gone they will be gone forever! Enjoy shopping and enjoy your Friday!

Let In the Sun!

Hey everyone!  I thought I'd share another fabulous Flourishes card with you today since Flourishes has their Amazing Gambler's Sale on right now.  For sale details, you can click here.

Over at Splitcoaststampers, I was looking through the latest and greatest challenge this week and came across the newest colour challenge... CC463...

This week's colours are: Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, and Coastal Cabana.
They always have a fun "dessert" item too... this week it was to use "some kind of wood embellishment".

That's one divine colour palette!  So I grabbed my "Sunflowers" stamp set and went to town...

To begin, I used a piece of Classic White Cardstock and stamped a variety of the beautiful sunflower and leaf images from the "Sunflowers" stamp set using Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink. Then I cut the image on the diagonal creating a 2.5" strip down the center.

I took the 2 triangle shapes created and air brushed them with Copic BG11 and BG13.  Then I laid my Tim Holtz "Dot Fade" Layering Stencil over the two pieces and misted some Copic Blender Solution over them.  The blending solution basically pushed all the ink away leaving the dot pattern of ink.

Next I coloured all the images within the 2.5" strip of cardstock.  I used the "pointillism" colouring technique for my back ground.  For that I used the following Copic Markers:
BG11, BG13, BG34, E70, E71, E74, R24,
Y04, Y11, Y13, Y18, Y19, Y38, YG11 AND YR12.

My final touch was a quick sentiment stamped on a little wooden speech bubble and voila!  Thanks for joining me today.

The design for today's card was based on the latest sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch!:

Don't forget about my two GIVEAWAYS...

Good luck!

Timeless Tuesday ~ Radiant Orchid

 Timeless-Tuesday-New-Logo
Hello fellow Flourishes fans! It's Tuesday and we're here with another fantastic Timeless Tuesday Challenge for you! Have you checked out the latest and greatest Gambler's Sale this week? You don't want to miss this... it's 20% off everything in the store. Things go fast, so shop now to ensure you get all those stamps on your "must have" list! Click here for more details and your shopping code.

This week I am your hostess and I am challenging you to create using the newest Pantone Color of the year... Radiant Orchid... but any shade of purple will do!

FTTC256 Purple
According to the Pantone View, "Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute™ has been designating a Color of the Year to express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist. A color that will resonate around the world, the PANTONE Color of the Year is a reflection of what people are looking for, what they feel they need that color can help to answer. Not necessarily the hot fashion color of the moment, but a color crossing all areas of design which is an expression of a mood, an attitude, on the part of the consumers."

I have to say, purple is my favourite colour so when I saw that the newest Pantone colour for 2014 was "Radiant Orchid" I was elated!  Any excuse to pull out some purple in my books is a good thing... so instead of card this week, I chose to make a fun tag.

I started my project with an Inkssentials Manila Craft Tag.  First I applied an airbrushed layer of two purplicious Copic Markers, RV19 & V09.  Then I applied some gesso through my Tim Holtz "Dot Fade" Layering stencil and I also airbrushed some rich purple Copic Marker through it too...
Click any image to ENLARGE it!

Then I took a piece of sandpaper and sanded the top layer of my gesso to reveal the white below...

Next, I took 4 layers of paper towel and dampened it with some Copic Blender Solution and "inked" up my "Vintage Wallpaper" back ground stamp and stamped it across my tag.  Since my back ground was made using Copics, it removed some of the Copic ink to reveal the wallpaper pattern of the stamp within the ink itself!  I LOVE this effect!

Next I inked up my "Chrysanthemum" images using Memento "Espresso Truffle" ink and stamped my flowers all over the tag.

Next I took my Copic Markers, RV19, V04, V09 & YR12, and added some shadows and shading to my Chrysanthemum flowers.
http://shop.flourishes.org/Petunia_Collection_p/co%2026.htm

http://shop.flourishes.org/Copic_Violet_Collection_p/co%2010.htm

I took some Ranger "Scattered Straw" Distress Ink, inked the tag's edges and also added some white pen detail over top of my coloured flowers to make the flowers pop against my vivid back drop.

I stamped some subtle script onto the back ground of my tag and also a sentiment at the bottom.  All of these stamps came from the "Chrysanthemum" stamp set.

Last but not least, I took my Ranger "Scattered Straw" Distress Ink again and inked up the chevrons from the "So Distressed" stamp collection and added it to my tag.  I threaded some Peach, Mango Orange and some Lavender Seam Binding Ribbon through the tag's hole and tied on a bronze coloured brad to secure it together.

And volia... my tag was born!  There is nothing better than gettin' inky, especially with purple, my friends!  LOL!

Have fun using purple in your creations this week! This week, we have asked the Design Team to join us in celebrating the colour purple. Take a moment and leave some lavender love on each one of our designers this week!

A GIVEAWAY!

To celebrate this week, as your hostess, I'm giving away TWO stamp sets!  I have a number of Flourishes stamp sets in my possession and TWO lucky COMMENTERS on TODAY's post will win a stamp set each!  All you have to do for a chance to win, is simply leave me a comment below.  I will announce a winner on my Timeless Tuesday post next week.  Good luck!

For my card today I began by inking up the large image from the "Passion Flowers" stamp set with Versamark ink and then stamping it on Classic White Cardstock.  I added white embossing powder and heat set my image.

Then I took some "Scattered Straw" Distress Ink and sponged the entire back ground, concentrating my ink around my flowers.  Then I took the same colour of ink and applied it to my distressed back ground stamp from the "So Distressed" stamp set and applied over the entire image...

I stitched around the edge using some purple thread and matted it with a ornate die cut edge.

Then I took a piece of Bonquet cardstock from the Crocus Color Made Easy paper collection and inked up my "Vintage Wallpaper" back ground stamp using Versamark ink and applied it to the right side and bottom of the rich purple cardstock.  I brushed some "Heirloom Gold" Perfect Pearls across the ink and the fine gold powder stuck to the pattern, adding a touch of shimmer to the dark purple cardstock.  I added some gold pen to the edges as well...

To finish off my card, I added the "Don't Worry be" sentiment the "Passion Flowers" stamp set and then a fussy cut "Happy" from the now sold-out "Inside & Out: Happy" mini stamp set.

Timeless Tuesday ~ In With the NEW!

Good day everyone!  I hope your week is starting out great.  This week seems to be a hectic one around our household.  I'm looking forward to a calmer end of the week though.

This week, the fabulous Cheryl Lea is our Timeless Tuesday Challenge hostess and she is challenging us to...

What a great challenge for our NEW year!

I have a friend who is going through IVF this week and I made this card as a way of saying "I'm rootin' for you".  She's had a tough time the last 3 years and lost 2 babies already so I'm hoping for them that the third time is the charm.

I kept my card this week SUPER SIMPLE... a CAS style card... which I have the hardest time with 'cuz I love throwing all kinds of layers or texture or embellishments on my card.  But for this card, I just wanted my coloured image to speak.  Plus... I have been in the mood for the last couple of days just to sit down and just simply colour so this was the perfect opportunity!

I started out with a A2 card base made from Classic White Cardstock.  If you are colouring with Copics, this is the ONLY paper I use and HIGHLY recommend!!

Then I stamped my bouquet from the "Summer Blossoms" stamp collection using Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink.  Then I coloured my image using the following Copic Markers:
BG72, BG75, R20, R21, R22, R35, R37, R39, RV14, RV17, RV63, RV66, RV69, Y00, Y17, YG13, YG21, YG23, YG25, YG93 and YG95.

I took my sentiment "Hope Happens" from the "Magnolias" stamp set and inked it up with both Memento "Rose Bud" and "Lilac Posies" inks and stamped it as my greeting.

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope I've inspired you today to pick up some stamps and have fun colouring a CAS style card!  Be sure to visit the DT's blogs and leave them a little blog love...
Thanks for stopping by! We hope you'll join us this week for our fantastic challenge.

Tempting Coastal Cantaloupe Peonies

Did you check out that title today?  LOL... it's actually referring to one of the challenges my card is geared to; it involves some ink colours for the challenge.  You can see more detail below.

So today, I have to say, I am IN LOVE with this card.  When I first started it, I just wasn't lovin' the direction the stamping was going but with a little patience and ink, I truly ending up loving all the cool stamping effects.

I actually started this card by drawing those black lines that separate those 3 different strips.  Yes... they are not paper layers but actual masked off sections of the front panel of my card.  I used some larger Post-It Notes to help mask off each strip and used my Copic Airbrush to ink the back ground and then some Memento "Flannel Grey" ink to stamp on the patterns from the Flourishes' stamp sets, "So Distressed" and "Vintage Wallpaper".  To get the glow around the edges, I used a sponge applicator and some Ranger "Wild Honey" Distress ink - love that glow.

My focal image is of one of the beautifully detailed floral images from the new Flourishes' "Flowers for Jan" stamp set.  I stamped it on Classic White Cardstock, the BEST Copic colouring paper by far, and then fussy cut it out and popped it up on a Copic Airbrush coloured die cut.  For my sentiment, I die cut a simple banner piece, air brushed it and the stamped the sentiment from the retired "Tag Lines" stamp set.

As you can see in the close up, the front panel is indeed one sheet of paper plus some zig zag machine stitching...

And I couldn't just leave the inside Classic Black Cardstock blank, so I stamped some more "Vintage Wallpaper" onto white cardstock (yes... it started out as white cardstock!) and some more peony flowers with Memento "Black Tuxedo" ink.

To get the void in the center, I first inked the entire "Vintage Wallpaper" back ground stamp up and then took a piece of paper towel and blotted off the center of the stamp to remove the ink.  Not only did it remove the ink to create the void but it also lighted the edges of the central ink to create a more subtle fade back into the back ground stamping.

To colour in my images and airbrush my back grounds, I used the following Copic Markers:
BG23, BG32, BG45, BG53, E08, G43, G82, Y15, YR12, YR15 and YR16.

For my card design, I used my own card sketch design created for this week's Splitcoast Card Sketch, SC471:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/card-sketches-f41/

I was also inspired to create this card using the Splitcoast Colour Challenge for this week, CC461, where we were asked to use the following colours; "Tempting Turquoise, Coastal Cabana & Crisp Cantaloupe", hence the name of my blog post today...
I hope my card has inspired you today!  Come and play along with us at Splitcoast for our fabulous Wednesday Card Sketch!  I'd love to see what you create with it.

Timeless Tuesday ~ Button Up for Winter!

Hey fellow stamp lovers!  It's Tuesday and time for another fabulous Timeless Tuesday Challenge over at Flourishes!

This week the lovely and super talented, Jenny, is out hostessed and she is challenging you to...

I took the "winter" aspect of this week challenge for a STR..E..T..C..HLOL!  I actually used the "Summer Blossoms" stamp set and coloured it with richer, wintry tones to make it seem more winter like!  I hope it speaks "winter" to you!

For my focal shape, I die cut a piece of Classic White Cardstock using the Perfectly Pierced Victorian Ovals die and then a created a thin cut frame around it.  I stamped the sweet little greeting in the center of my blossoms from the "Medallion Motif" stamp set.

I decorated my front using some cut die cut snowflakes and some "Festive Fushia" seam binding ribbon, some Silver Metallic String and some cut little buttons.  I added a touch of Stickles to the snowflakes and the center of the cream blooms for a bit of winter sparkle!

I coloured my blooms using the following Copic Markers:
BG11,BG70, BG72, BG75, BG78, BG93, BG96, R24, R27, R35, R37, R39, YR000 & YR0000.

I'm also submitting this for the Simon Says Stamps Blog challenge - anything goes challenge; here!

Be sure to visit the DT's blogs and leave them a little blog love. In return, they will amaze you with their spectacular work...
Thanks for stopping by! We hope you'll join us this week for our fantastic challenge.
