Anything Goes?OK... How About Glitter Stained Glass Alligators

I LOVE to do anything goes... I LOVE thinking outside the box and here is what I did. I stamped the alligator from JUNGLE PALS onto acetate with stazon ink in jet black. Then, on the same side that I stamped on, I filled in various areas of the gators with crystal effects and dumped glitter on it and repeated the process with different colors and glitters and here is what I came up with. I used pop dots to life the acetate alligator panel off the paper so the light would show through and I covered the dots with the leaves that I cut out. I added the leaves under the panel too and got out the stickles and jazzed them all up! This was really a fun technique and it was funny too because Milo, my 15 year old Jack Russell STILL has glitter on him... and so does my hubby...(but that can be our little secret!)
Thanks for popping in!

Challenge #4 Anything Goes

Hi it's Harriet here.  I made a set of these cards to give to a friend of mine who is a Real Estate agent.  She likes to give cards to her clients.  I used the image from Flower Frames (JRCL308) and the sentiment from Home Sweet Home (JGCL526).  I stamped the scene on white card stock and then again on the dotted patterned paper.  I colored in the flowers and sky then paper pieced the hills.
Thanks for coming by!
Supplies: Stamps - Home Sweet Home, Flower Frames; Ink - Versafine Onyx Black; Paper - PaperTrey; Misc - Nestabilities, Water color pencils, Aquabrush, SU! Markers

Challenge #3 - Back to School Treat

Hi All:

Here we are for the final day of the Back To School - Anything but a Card - Challenge!

I created a bookmark using a jumbo paperclip, a star-shaped chipboard, and the popular Woodware Clear Stamps School Tots set!

I covered the pre-cut star chipboard with silver mirror cardstock, adhered a black and white polka dot chipboard circle over the star, then paper-pieced and colored the little school girl tot with Copics.  I printed out the sentiment "You're a Shining Star" on the computer, punched it out and covered it with Hologram Stickles.  Added Xmas Red Stickles to the little girl's skirt and the ribbons in her hair.
Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to check back again tomorrow -- Bonnie will be launching a new challenge for the Design Team to show you more Woodware sets!!

Hugs,
Anne

School Treats...

This week, the Woodware Design team has been presenting a variety of "treats" you can make to place in the lunchbox of your school aged child, pass on to favorite teachers and also to new school friends. Today, Kerry and Nancy share their creations.

Kerry writes:

About a week ago, I was in a local fabric store and I discovered a whole shopping cart of empty little boxes. Their thread shipment had arrived and they were unpacking and shelving all the tiny bobbins of thread. I spied these boxes and thought they would make perfect little treat boxes! So I headed over to the front desk and said "This may sound strange, but if you are going to throw those thread boxes out, can I have them?" They giggled and said I could have as many as I wanted! WOO HOO...SCORE!

I brought them home (I think I got about 30 of these little boxes) and started making some little boxes up for my students. Some of you may know that I'm a teacher, and I always love to have a little treat for my students on the first day of school. The box is filled with an eraser, a pencil sharpener, and a peppermint. Why a peppermint? Peppermints have been found to boost test scores!

Stamp sets used: School Tots (apple), Mixed Greetings (happy and part of the word birthday) Paper: The Paper Loft (Well Worn Collection)

Nancy's project uses the set School Tots, and this is called a criss cross box. You can find the tutorial HERE. It is a fun little box to make to house any kind of treats! The paper is from Stampin' Up (Riding Hood Red designer paper and cardstock, and Night of Navy cardstock. I used circle punches for the School Days and apple stamps, and I cut the image of the little girl out after coloring her with Copic markers. For more information, please visit Nancy's blog.

Check back tomorrow for more Woodware USA inspirations!!

The treat holder is good for two little candy bars or tea bags...I picked chocolate, YUM!!
The sentiment is from Mixed Greetings Stamp set.
I used the flower trio image from the Mixed Greetings set to stamp the inside, colored the teddy with Copics and added some fine glitter for a lovely sparkle.
You can find the tutorial for this treat holder ...HERE.

So join us ...make anything but a card for back to school. Make sure to  post a link here so that we all can come and see your creations.

Fairy Dust for School...

This week's Challenge is to make a Back to School project that is Anything But a Card...I ordered School Tots, but not in time to play with them for this project (I am a Master Procrastinator. ;)

I decided to make a little Chocolate filled gift for a friend that is starting College classes...who doesn't need chocolate for class?
I used Fairy Tots and decorated a DieCuts & More Circle Window Square Box...it is so easy, it is all cut out, scored and the window is done...all I did was stamp the butterflies and add the acetate! The stamped image didn't show up well against the bright colored candy, so I added a little Polka Dot Embossed circle of white paper behind it, letting a little of the acetate still show so the candy peeks out...
Here is a peek at the fun Bright Sixlets inside...
And a close up of the details...
Supplies:
Stamps: Fairy Tots (Woodware USA)
Paper: Die Cut Box, Acetate, White CS
Ink: Staz-On, Copic Markers, White Pigment Ink
Misc: Grosgrain Ribbon, Zva Felt Flower, Imaginisce Glitter Brad, Imaginisce Flower, Gem Brad

Come back tomorrow for more Anything but a Card projects!!

A Little Treat For Someone Sweet!

By: Dawn Knight

This weeks Challenge is to make a Lunchbox treat for back to school. I made this cute little milk carton with the School Tots set from Woodware.I colored the crayons with copics and cut them all out and adhered them to the base of my milk carton. For the closure, I used a little clip and I used poly shrink plastic to make the 3 little apple charms also from the School Tots set.  Now, to make sure my darling had the right lunch box, I made her this little tag to go on it. She will be starting Kindergarten in a French Immersion program, so I used the colors in the French Flag... red, white and blue... How Perfect! I die cut her name and it is ready to tie on her lunch bag! Please join us in the challenge and make a treatie for your school sweetie... and share it with us! we would LOVE to see it! Thanks for stopping in...

Challenge #3 Treat Boxes (Anything But a Card)

Hi, it's Harriet today with my take on this week's challenge...anything but a card.  I don't create many 3D projects but this was fun to do!  I have these CD sleeves/envelopes that have the circle cut out and covered with acetate so I used it for the treat bag.  One treat that kids love to take to school are these goldfish crackers and the CD sleeve reminded me of a fish bowl.  So I used one of my favorite cat images from Woodware USA's Forbes and Friends set along with paw prints and fish scales.  Forbes is is watercolored and cut out with a circle Nestability and attached with glue dots to the inside if the bag.  I think this fat cat loves goldfish crackers as much as kids do!
I hope this inspired you to make a treat bag ... or anything other than a card! And if you do create something please provide a direct link to your creation in the comments section of this post so we can see!
Supplies: Stamps - Forbes and Friends; Ink - Versafine Onyx Black; Paper - CD Sleeve, PaperTrey; Misc - Watercolor pencils, Aquabrush, Nestability, Goldfish Crackers

Challenge #2 - Favorite Technique - Heat Embossing

Hi All,

It's me, Anne, today!  I have the final sample for you this week featuring our DT's Favorite Techniques!

This was a tough call because there's ALWAYS a new technique and each time I try one it's my "new" Favorite Technique!  But I have to say, I fell in love with card making when I learned how to heat emboss, so that is the technique I chose as my favorite!   Heat embossing is the basis for so many different techniques.  My card today is made using heat embossing to do the "Stained Glass" technique.

I used a leafy image from Woodware's fabulous "Flora" stamp set!!  The images in this set are totally unique, I have loved playing with them!

I used black pigment ink to stamp the image and embossed with CLEAR embossing powder onto my velum cardstock.  I colored the REVERSE side with dye ink pens.

The image is layered with the embossed side facing out.

Hope you've enjoyed the samples this week all created with Woodware stamps!!  Please check in again tomorrow for the start of a brand new challenge!!  A new card is posted EVERY DAY here on the Woodware blog!!

Hugs,
Anne

What's YOUR favorite technique???

Hey stampers! We hope you've found the projects and techniques inspiring this week. Today Nancy and Kerry want to show you two of their most favorite techniques...

Kerry writes:

I really love experimenting and playing around with different techniques. Over five years ago, I went to an art show in Maryland and saw an artist doing something that fascinated me. This artist painted in layers...Not what you think...paint on top of paint on top of paint...Actually, the artist created his scene of depth and intensity by painting parts of a whole on individual panes of glass then stacking them one on top of the other (with spacers) to create depth. I minored in Art Education in college so this reminded me of an ancient technique of Reverse Painting...but with a twist. So as a teacher, there's always something in me to teach a little. If you want an art history lesson today, CLICK HERE to read about the history of this technique.

When I observed his work, all I could think of was my stamping. I knew this ancient technique could be a stamper's dream...So I tried using clear acetate, ink, my stamps, and of course, acrylic paints.

I created two different cards with the same materials, just a twist on the layout and a few additional embellishments. I used Mixed Greetings because not only does it have some great sentiments in various fonts, it also has little icon images (like the cupcake) that are perfect for cards!

So it was about five years ago that I first tried reverse painting on acetate and I just LOVE it. If you create something with this technique, please share, we'd love to see it!!!

Kerry

Nancy writes:

I'm not a fancy technique kind of gal, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I chose to highlight dry embossing because, above all, it is my favorite technique. The addition of texture to any project is just awesome!! I suppose you could count coloring with Copics and using scissors to cut out images as technique, but the dry embossing will have to do today! I used the adorable set Jungle Pals for my card today. It is a fun, versatile set, and I plan to use this card for a little boy's birthday very soon! For more information about this card, please visit my blog HERE. Thanks for stopping by today...we hope you enjoyed the samples from the design team!! Play along with us, and I'd love to see you send some submissions made with Woodware USA stamps.

Challenge #2:Birthday!!

Hi Everyone!
I'm back with challenge#2 card.
This week's challenge is Favorite Technique.
I love clear stamps and I've few favorite stamping techniques .... masking, paper piecing, combining stamped images or sentiments from different sets to make a new image or sentiment. I use Copic markers mostly to color my images. The most fun thing I like to do with stamps is to make or use the stamped image as embellishments. This card has almost all of my fave techniques in it . I also love Kraft cardstock a lot. For this card I used ROBINS stamp set for the focal image  and combined the sentiments from ROBINS and TEDDY REMEMBERS Stamp sets. Paper piecing is a great way to use all the little scraps we have on our craft table.
So show us your fave technique....you have until Sunday to link your entry.
Thanks for stopping by...
Have a fabulous day!
Piali.
Supplies:
Papers: WeR Memory Keepers; PTI Kraft cardstock; Bazzill Black cardstock.
Stamps: Woodware USA~Robins and Teddy Remembers.
Ink: Memento Black; Distress ink
Copics; EK Success cirle punches; Gems; Pop dots.

Challenge #2, Favorite Technique...

This week's challenge is to use your favorite technique...If I have a technique in stamping it would be Coloring with Copics...is that a technique? I always think of Batiking or Bleach Stamping or Heat Embossing as a Technique...but I don't do those things, so I guess coloring is the best I've got! ;)

I used the Birthday Fun set and made a yummy bowl of delicious Pistachio, Strawberry and Chocolate Ice Cream! Mmmmm, summer time treat!

Supplies:
Stamps: Birthday Fun (Woodeware USA Clear Stamps,) Verve Sentiment
Cardstock: Melon Berry, Dark Chocolate, White (PTI,) Tempting Turquoise (SU)
Patterned Paper: Good Cheer (October Afternoon)
Ink: Copic Markers, Memento Black
Misc: Stardust Stickles, Retro Flower Punch, Vintage Button, Embroidery Floss, Pop Dots, Felt, Small Scallop Border Die

Challenge #2 Favorite Technique

Hi it's me - Harriet!  I have several favorite techniques - it depends on the image which technique I'll use.  For this sweet scene from Flower Frames I decided to use my water color pencils and aquabrush.  I love to color with water color pencils or with Prismacolor pencils and Baby Oil.  I usually have a clean and simple style but today I was inspired by this beautiful scene and created another scene around it!  The sentiment is from another Woodware set called Friendship.  You can click on the highlighted stamp set names to go directly to the stamp set on the Woodware USA site.
What is your favorite technique?  If you want to show us please link up your creations with a comment on this blog post!  We'd love to see what you create!  And please come back tomorrow to see which technique is Dawn's favorite!!
Supplies: Stamps - Flower Frames, Friendship; Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Paper - PaperTrey, Bazzill; Misc - MS Fence border punch, MFT Die-namics Grass die, MFT Die-namics Clouds die, Primas, button brads, Watercolor pencils, Aquabrush

Create A Project Using
Your Favorite Technique!

My fave technique by far is along the CLEAN AND SIMPLE style, and my fave technique is using the sentiment as the focal point of your greeting -- not a lot of images!

For me, it's easy to create an eye-catching card using just color and the perfect sentiment!
That's all you need!

Here's what I created
to show you:

Happy Birthday
in Pink and Goldenrod!

Stamps used: Woodware Stamp sets: Cingular Greetings sentiment

Design Team Meet and Greet

Nancy Bush - DT Coordinator

I've been crafting all of my life, but I discovered scrapbooking 13 years ago and stamping 5 years ago while living here in Charlotte, North Carolina. There is no going back...every event is a scrapbook page; every occasion needs a card. My 5 year old daughter is my crafting sidekick, and we come up with all sorts of projects in "our" craft room, so I had to include her in my bio picture. We let my husband come and visit sometimes, but he has yet to catch the fever that we have. I enjoy challenges, and I try to play along with several every chance I get. I'm currently designing for Flutter By Wednesday Challenge, Party Time Tuesdays, Scrapmaster's Paradise, and Sugar Creek Hollow.

Dawn Knight DT Coordinator
My name is Dawn Knight and I have been crafting forever!!! I started to crochet when I was 6! I have been stamping for 5 years and I LOVE it! I am totally hooked and I LOVE the creative process that stamping allows! I hope to inspire other crafters with my love of creating. My little girl LOVES to create and when my baby boy is napping... we go into "our" craft room and create! My Hubby is a wonderful audience for all of our creations and is very patient with my "addiction"!

Harriet Skelly

I have been married for almost 29 years to my awesome husband Bruce, and we have a 20 year old daughter and 3 funny and adorable cats. We live in Northern California. I first started making cards with Mrs Grossman's stickers about 5 years ago - I wanted to send them to my daughter at over night camp. I later discovered stamps and thought that was a much cheaper route to go - yeah right!! When I am not stamping I love to hike, read and travel.

Rachel Hope
I have been a crafter for 9 years, starting like most most people at a home party. I started with simple scrapbooking, then moved on to Stampin' Up!, I even sold SU for a few years, then I went into a stamp store one day and fell in love with the variety I saw. I have evolved my stamping across many styles. I love clean and simple lines, but tend to mostly create things that are so full of little embellishments and flowers that it is hard to mail them! Being a single Mom with a full time job outside the home my stamping time has become my Zen!

Piali Biswas
Hello!!! I am Piali . I live in New Jersey with my wonderful husband , two adorable daughters and a little furry one. They keep my life busy. I joined the online craft community in June 2009 and loving every moment of it. I'm addicted to stamping and card making... I also love crocheting, beading and quilting. If possible I would love to spend my whole day stamping in my craft room. I like to try new techniques for paper crafting and take new challenges everyday. I'm currently on few design teams...and have the wonderful opportunity to BE inspired by all the talented crafters around me. I am very excited to be a part of First Woodware USA Design Team. Thanks!

Kerry Urbatch
Kerry Urbatch caught the stamping bug more than 10 years ago. It first started with a visit to a friend's holiday stamping party and that was all it too to get her hooked! Her muse has carried her in many artistic directions throughout the years but currently, she enjoys coloring with Copic markers, reverse painting images with acrylic paint, adding doodled images, and using the colored pencil/gamsol coloring technique. A full time elementary school teacher by day, she spends most of her free time stamping, making sketches and video tutorials and hanging out at various online stamping groups. You'll always find her best pal Peanut, a 15 year old Jack Russell Terrier right under her feet. She currently resides in the Northern VA area.

Bonnie Rose Kempenich

My name is Bonnie Rose and I currently live in Fargo ND. I have a dream of living further south one day near the ocean. I love the ocean. I could be a total beach bum and have a beach-inspired beach home one day. One day.

I work part time weekdays and have most of my afternoons free to be inspired and create in my Studio. When a day goes by when I don't make something, I just don't feel complete.

Most of my designs use bright bold punches of color. I guess you could say my card style is CLEAN AND GRAPHIC. Also it's CLEAN AND SIMPLE too - I like fast and easy!

I love card design and stamping. I started out as a scrapbooker over 17 years ago, but soon the stamping bug caught me, and well, now I'm hooked on card design! I am a mother to two beautiful girls, Sara and Bethany. And married to a great guy named Greg. We live here with our needy dog Angel.

This summer, we're all looking forward to spending a week on the ocean in Tybee Island in GA, just outside of Savannah. Never been there. We're spending a week right on the water. Looking so forward to seeing somewhere new and just living at the beach for a week.

I love stamping and am very happy to be showing you all the fun ways you can use Woodware USA Stamps! You can find me at my creative blog here, http://alifeunrehearsed2.blogspot.com/ and on Facebook at http://facebook.com/bonitarose

Anne Harada

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and lived there for over 40 years! I now live in Ft. Worth, Texas with my best friend and husband, Carl. Our daughter, Leslie, and grand-dog live in nearby Dallas, Texas. I work fulltime for a software engineering company as the only woman in a 40-person office! My passion for stamping and paper crafting is surpassed only by my love for God and my family. I have been incredibly blessed and I am grateful that I can share my enthusiasm for this craft with others whenever I get the opportunity.

I’ve been “crafty” in many different areas ever since I can remember. About 9 years ago I discovered paper crafts and stamping at a home stamping party. From that point on, the more I learned and collected, the more I pursued this art form. I still feel like I am just getting started! I tend to go through phases of stamping techniques and products and try to keep on top of what’s new.

I’m a former Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and I’ve designed for a couple of different stamp company design teams and “challenge” teams. Currently I hold workshops on request and sell my cards and paper craft gifts in an independently owned boutique shop in NM and on-line at my Etsy Store.

Stay tuned tomorrow for our first challenge...each day, a team member will highlight their project!!
