PhotoHunt ~ Game

The PhotoHunt for this weekend is 'Game' This is the weekend of the BIG Auburn/Alabama football game. This year the steaks are higher than ever. . .  one of us will be going to the National Championship.  Once again Auburn is going in as the underdog.

Y'all know that we live in a divided household . . . I am an Auburn Orange and Blue Tiger.
Bill's family hollers Roll Tide.
I think it is a good thing that I am in Boston for the holidays.

We'll see if I need to take a cab from the airport on Sunday.

An Auburn Weekend

Bill and I went to Auburn for a quick weekend with family ~ isn't that what the holidays are all about?
A roadtrip to grandmother's house . . .

Even though Auburn is a huge University town . . . to me it is just a small town.
A beautiful small town~

We grew up in Auburn ~ back when Toomer's was really a drug store!
It was the place to get a lemonaide ~

This photo of the great oak trees on Toomer's Corner is so sad to me.
They are trying to decide what to do with the corner ~ the trees were poisioned 2 years ago and will obviously have to be cut down.

We didn't need them much for toilet paper this year anyhoo ~

While we were there ~ we did a little shopping in town.
Of course . . .  Ware's Jewelry has been there like forever!!

Where else could you buy orange and blue pearls or one of oddles of 'tree' designs.

This hasn't been the best year for War Eagle fans ~ But now we are on the 'Gus Bus'
We are hoping for better things in 2013!

We will both be pulling for Alabama in the National Championship against Notre Dame ~

Yep . . . that's us.
Every Fall ~ one of us in going to take a fall.

I am hoping that today it is not Auburn
But . . . since Alabama is having ANOTHER great season ~
I may have to take the fall.

Saturday in the South

Saturday in the south . . .
It is all about some football !

Tailgate-ing in Alabama is an art.
of course this saturday . . . the art was all in red and white, with a lot of houndstooth mixed in.

We went to T-town . . . the home of the Crimson Tide.
Our niece, who is the school of nursing there,  has marched with the Million $$ Band for a few years now. We are so proud of her.
This was the perfect day to go watch.

I'm sure Bill wasn't watching this . . . not this.

You gotta love some Alabama football . . .
This made me laugh ~
the great Bear Bryant in 8 feet of bronze ~ with a sticker that says 'Go to hell Auburn'

What's not to love about some SEC football !

A Local Winery ?

We had a fun evening when we went with WhistleStop 'family' Arnold and Wanda Ruben to a local winery.
Yes  .  .  .  local!

Vizzini Winery in Calera.
They have a couple of nice wines.
 I love their local labels
~ I need to remember these for the BIG Auburn/Alabama game.

Their Chardonnay and Cabernet were good . . . just because you can't grow grapes in Alabama, doesn't mean you can't process them here!

 There was music and dancing . . .

and even a little romancing.
We watched as a helecopter landed and this good southern boy got down on one knee...

In the light of a beautiful Alabama sunset.

I wonder if they'll be needing a cake topper?

Traveling Tuesdays ~ It's Turkey Time

It is Thanksgiving!
I am usually on a trip . . . or planning a trip to visit family over Thanksgiving.
2 years ago we celebrated this American holiday at St Paul's Cathedral in London.

How cool is that?
It was so Beautiful. We were gathered with other American's . . . singing hymns in that fabulous cathedral.
Then we celebrated with Turkey and all the fixin's.
Then, last year. . . we were singing hymns of a different sort~
In Auburn!
We were singing the War Eagle fight song as Auburn won the Iron Bowl.
I'm afraid that this year we might be listening to the Alabama fight song.
~Woouldn't that make Bill happy?!?
Maybe I SHOULD have planned a trip after all~

Friday's Favorite ~ our house divided

Y'all know that Bill and I have a 'mixed marriage'. I wrote about our House Divided a few years ago.
It really isn't a problem until this time of year.
He is an Alabama fan.
I am an Auburn girl.
