Original Pink Saucer Magnolia Flower Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! Photograph of Dappled Gentle Light Against the Flowers at Descanso Gardens...

"Elegance" Original 11"x14" Painting on Canvas Here

This is my featured painting is "Elegance."  I've been thinking about the beauty of flowers.  I love their gentle forms and trying to capture them when their charm is at its zenith.  The art has a painterly realist impressionist feel.  The original pink saucer magnolia floral acrylic painting is available as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisabellarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is mermaids and more; you may see them here.

Photograph of Dappled Gentle Light Against the Flowers at Descanso Gardens

I took this photograph of these pink saucer magnolias at Descanso Gardens.  I love how the light gently caressed and engulfed them.  I can't take myself to the gardens so I find myself visiting my photos of them.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

My Photograph of a Pink Saucer Magnolia Flowers at Huntington Gardens + Sketches of Little Red Riding Hood, Big Eye Mermaid, & Flowers/ February 24-28 / Art Sketch Daily...

I took this photograph of this pink saucer magnolia at Huntington Gardens during my most recent visit.  There was a tree with many blooms close to the ground, I was able to photograph from above.  Solo or with one of my maidens, this flower is very tempting for me to paint.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She is inspired by the fairytale little red riding hood.  She is the first of three variations that I will sketch.  When I have completed them, I will decide which one I like the best and move forward towards refining the sketch to paint.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in February. This is from day 24.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of some daffodil flowers.  They have such a sweet allure...  I'm unsure if I'll paint this sketch or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in February.  This is from day 25.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She is gently swimming with her hair flowing in the water...  I think she is most likely a mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in February. This is from day 26.

Here is a sketch of a summer bouquet.  I was so wrapt in the details, that I neglected to give one a stem, easily remedied enough though...  I'm unsure if I'll paint this or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

My Photograph of a Magnolia Flower + Sketch of a Big Eye Fairy, a Camellia, & a Bunny Rabbit/ Art Sketches Daily/ May 8, 9, & 10

I took this photograph of this magnolia flower at Alex's old place.  Before they trimmed them, the boughs dipped very low and I was able to get close shots of some of these gorgeous flowers.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  Her hair is long and lovely and she has some accent streaks running through it.  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a goddess or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in May.  This is day 8.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of a camellia.  Some camellia flowers are more elaborate than others.  This time I selected one that I felt had a simple elegance to sketch.  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in May.  This is from day 9.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of a bunny rabbit.  He has paused amidst some flowers.  Bunnies hold a special place in my heart.  I'm unsure if I'll paint him or not, but I did enjoy sketching him.

Happy National Teacher's Day!  I have been graced with some very wonderful teachers, I am very grateful to them.

"Enchanted Light" Original 18"x24" Painting on Canvas Here

This week my featured painting is "Enchanted Light," it is on a large canvas and has a realist impressionist feel.  This gorgeous flower was growing on a tree outside of Alex's old apartment and I was compelled to photograph and then paint this beauty.  The original magnolia painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is mermaids and includes a selection of some of my big eye fantasy sirens; you may see them here.

I am linking this post with Inspire Me Monday

The Corey Helford Gallery has three sections, there is the main gallery and then two additional galleries.  I went to see The Art Collector Starter Kit IV Group Exhibition, which I hope to share some of the art from on a different day, as a couple of my favorite artists had work in the show and I was very pleasantly surprised to be introduced to Richard J. Oliver's work.  The pieces were large and lovely.  I think they're realist surrealist in feel.  These are some of my favorites from the show.  The Immersion exhibit is CLOSED, but the gallery may have some of his works available.

My Photograph of White Magnolia Flowers at Alex's Old Place...

I took this photograph of this white magnolia flower outside of Alex's old place quite a while back.  The magnolia trees dipped down so close to the ground that I could touch the flowers.  They were so gorgeous!  The trees are still there, but they've been significantly pruned since I took this photo.  If I were to paint this, I probably wouldn't include the gas station in the background, but I thought the flower was beautiful.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I've compiled my images for 29 faces in September and I'll try to post about my impressions of the challenge tomorrow.

I've returned to my other blog about trying to have less, if you're curious about my efforts, that blog is here.  I'll probably only update it once or twice a week, typically on Tuesday...

My finished white magnolia painting...

I had my doubts that I would ever call this painting finished, but I'm calling it; well, for now anyway!  It's an 18"x24" acrylic white magnolia flower painting on canvas entitled "Enchanting Light."  To see it on my website, please visit here

I know I skip around a lot.  Some days all I want to paint is floral art, other days, it's fairies, and so on...  I know it isn't technically correct, but I want to call myself an expressionist painter, because I am so emotively driven...  I tend to paint what I feel and when I feel it...  I know it would be better professionally to focus on one genre, but there's a whole world out there and beyond that, there's the world I imagine as well!

I know that I'm stronger at certain subjects than with others, but at this point, I can't force myself to give up any of them...  Perhaps that will change at some point, but right now, I remain diversely driven...

Anyway, I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

Work in Progress White Magnolia Painting, wip 3

Amidst some of my finished florals, I found this in progress painting hiding.  I haven't done that much to it this week, but I did make some progress!  It's been a very long time since this unfinished white magnolia painting was hidden amongst the finished ones!
