I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's day.  I painted this image of a heart rising on the horizon of purple mountains quite some time ago, but it still speaks to me of hope and love.

I hope you have a beautiful day today.  I think we should honor those we love every day, but I love the idea of having a special day for it as well.  I painted this at a time I felt a little lost, but still with hope.  There is love in our lives and hope as well.  Happy Valentine's Day wishes...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has arranged her hair as hearts...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.  

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in February. This is day 14.

I am listing "Aphrodite," an original goddess painting. In this rendition, this goddess of love has teal eyes and purple streaks in her hair.  She is known to the Romans as Venus.  The art has a lowbrow surreal feel.

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here this week from Tuesday to Tuesday with a theme of Greek & Roman goddesses...


Most of my art is also available on my website at www.lisarusso.com; however, I like to put some art on ebay at a lower promotional start rate for the duration of the auctions... I have been updating my website. It's an ongoing project, but there is now an excellent selection of art available!

"Heart of Darkness" is one of my heart paintings. It part of my series of 5"x5" textured heart paintings. I love hearts, I think they're wonderful and romantic any time of year. This one has a black textured heart that comes up off of the canvas with a border, it is a lovely gothic expression of love. Due to the square format of the original, I did a digital variation to fit the 5"x7" print format which you may see on my website. The art has an abstract pop contemporary feel. Love Letter by Pietro Antonio Rotari at the Norton Simon Museum of Art & an Aphrodite Venus Goddess Website Update

This is a piece that I love at the Norton Simon Museum of Art.  By Pietro Antonio Rotari, a very highly successful artist of his day, I feel that this piece has such charm.  "Young Girl Writing a Love Letter" has such a sweet feeling.  These days I think letters on paper are fairly rare, but I think they are wonderful!
