Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has some makeup on her cheeks and a look of intensity...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a goddess or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

My Photograph of a Monarch Butterfly at Descanso Gardens + September Sketches Art, Day 28 Sketch, Big Eye Fairy...

I took this photograph of this monarch butterfly at Descanso Gardens.  It had landed on a beautiful flower, I'm not certain what type of flower it is.  I love to see butterflies and flowers together in the gardens!  We've planted milkweed in our yard because monarchs love them.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

WIP Monarch Butterfly Art Original Painting Work in Progress + September Sketches, Sketch 23 & Sketch 24, Angel & Fairy...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a monarch butterfly, I've painted the colors and the darks, all that remains to be painted are the white accents.  I should hopefully be done by Tuesday, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to share it then, I'm having technical difficulties uploading to my website.  My Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead painting will have numerous butterflies and I've decided to paint one solo.  I love monarch butterflies!

My Photograph of a Black Cormorant Bird at Huntington Gardens + September Sketches Art, Day 21 Sketch, Big Eye Mermaid...

I took this photograph of this cormorant at Huntington Gardens.  I had never seen such a bird before the day I saw this one in the Chinese Gardens.  Interestingly enough, I saw another younger cormorant at Descanso Gardens the very next week...  These birds start off a lighter brown and become this beautiful black color as they get older.  I felt very fortunate to see and photograph this bird.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

This week my featured painting is "The Little Mermaid," an original painting of a big eye redhead mermaid with her spiney seahorse friends. She has huge inquisitive blue eyes. On the 1st Tuesday of the month I am listing some prints at a sale rate for 30 days  The theme this month is blue maidens...  Some of my blue fantasy art pieces are available as open edition giclee art and LE ACEO prints here...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP big eye gothic maiden painting I'm finished with the background, I think the cemetery has a nice ambience.  Next I get to start on her, I think I'll be painting her eyes next, one of my favorite things to paint... 

This big eye gothic beauty is inspired by Wednesday Addams of the Addams Family and she is set in a Gothic cemetery.  This is an 11"x14" painting on gallery wrapped canvas.

This week my featured painting is "Seahorse Friend."  This little seahorse friend is focused on meeting with his other seahorse and mermaid friends...  He has big eyes for a seahorse and is inspired by two different kinds of seahorses, one with willowy spiney extrusions and the other with incandescent hues. I took this photograph of this purple iris at Huntington Gardens.  I thought the hues in these flowers were amazing.  I think I'm going to sketch this one and hopefully paint it, the beauty in it is calling me greatly.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!
