Another Triumphant Labour Policy Crashes Into The Runway And Explodes Into Flames...
The government’s flagship plan to set up free breakfast clubs in all primary schools is running into trouble as headteachers say that initial funding is inadequate and charities with experience of providing food in schools demand more flexibility over how they can be run.
So, a typical Labour election promise, then?
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson sees the provision of free breakfast clubs in all primary schools as vital to breaking what she calls the “unfair link between background and success” in education.
Because that's driven solely by breakfast, and not by any other aspect, like, say, a stable familty who value education?
Numerous academic studies show that a good breakfast improves attendance and pupil performance.
Ah, well, correlation just must be causation, if the 'experts' say so, eh?
But with the chancellor, Rachel Reeves, considering further spending cuts for major departments, concerns are growing among headteachers, unions and charities that the plans will not be properly funded and will lack the flexibility required to be successful.
I know, I know, I'm shocked too!
This weekend, the independent publication Schools Week highlighted how some headteachers in primaries, while enthusiastic about the overall aims, were refusing to take part in an “early adopter” pilot scheme for 750 volunteer schools because only 60p was being provided by the government per pupil.
What can you provide for that? Well, porridge, maybe?
Lindsey MacDonald, CEO of the charity Magic Breakfast, which has more than 20 years of experience in the field and provides breakfasts to more than 300,000 children and young people every day, said ministers must allow schools to offer a variety of ways to feed pupils, rather than just in formal “breakfast clubs” set up in one hall or building, before the normal school day. This is by far the most expensive model as it requires extra staff to be employed out of normal hours, and does not maximise the chances of all pupils being fed. While MacDonald is strongly in favour of the government’s aim, she insisted that ministers must allow schools the option to provide food in a wider variety of “grab and go” settings, such as when they arrive at school, in classrooms and even during lessons and break times.
Ah, but when a policy is driven by civil servants, what becomes important is what can be measured. Not what's actually working.
Anna McShane, director of the independent thinktank The New Britain Project, which has been looking at the practical implementation of Labour’s pledge, said its research had also found that more clarity was needed. “Now, more schools are rightly pushing back. Without clarity, this risks being another initiative that prioritises political headlines over practical solutions.”
Like all of Labour's policies so far...

Victim Blaming At The 'Guardian'...
The second apparent attempt on Donald Trump’s life – on Sunday at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida – occurred just over two months after he was wounded during an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “They’re not coming after me, they’re coming after you,” the former president said after the first attempt. “I’m just standing in the way.”
“They” should not be coming after anyone. There is no place in a democracy for violence, nor for threats of violence.
Did you expect a 'but', there, Reader? It's there. It's just silent.
Last weekend, two hospitals in Springfield were locked down after bomb threats, police said. Other threats received by Springfield officials have forced government buildings to close, two elementary schools to be evacuated and the students moved to a different location, and a middle school to shut down altogether. After Republican VP nominee JD Vance first began spreading baseless rumors about Haitians in Springfield, members of the neo-Nazi group “Blood Tribe” marched into the city carrying guns, wearing body armor, and carrying Neo-Nazi flags. At a 27 August town hall meeting, one claimed that the city had been taken over by “degenerate third worlders”, blamed Jewish people for the influx, and warned “crime and savagery will only increase with every Haitian you allow in.”
Springfield’s Haitian immigrants say they are afraid. Some have kept their children home from school, fearing violence. Others have reported harassment on the street, in their cars, and at stores.
They are the real victims, after all. No-one's shooting them, but they are getting angry glances and mean words and memes on social media, and that's just as bad!
Trump and Vance are using the oldest of tyrannical ploys – fueling deep-seated fears by creating an “other”, depicted as subhuman, who “take over” towns and “devour” loved ones. In Springfield, the loved ones are peoples’ pets. But how far is this bogus claim from vicious Nazi claims of Jewish people devouring children? Substitute “Jew” for “Haitian” in Springfield or for “Venezuelan” in Aurora, and you’re back to the Nazis of the 1930s. In demonizing and dehumanizing migrants, Trump and Vance are not just seeking to win over a few wavering voters across the nation or making a play for control of the Senate. They are trying to scare America into becoming a more fearsome, more racist nation.
And what does that have to do with the assassination attempts?
Let me repeat: there no justification whatsoever for violence or threats of violence in our democracy. While utterly despicable, Sunday’s second apparent assassination attempt on Trump can be seen as a symptom of the hate-filled politics that he and Vance are peddling. This must stop.

And With One Bound, She Was Free!
Police dropped an investigation to Angela Rayner's living arrangements yesterday – but her former neighbours were left furious.
The deputy Labour leader will face no further action by officers over questions about where she was living when she sold her Right-to-Buy home.
Announcing their decision, Greater Manchester Police said it had also passed information on to Stockport Council and HMRC, but they too will be taking no further action against the Ashton-under-Lyne MP.
We've imported the equivalent population of a dodgy Third World corrupt kleptocracy, so why not go the whole hog and adopt their methods too?
Sylvia Hampson, 83, had claimed that Ms Rayner was living next door to her in a terraced home – owned by her then husband, Mark Rayner – in Lowndes Lane in Stockport for a good 'six or seven years', rather than in the ex-council house she later sold.
The mother-of-two, who gave evidence to the police investigation, said: 'It's bloody ridiculous. 'I know the truth and so does my son. She was definitely living next door to me and she knows she was.'I guess you won't be voting Labour then?
Chris Hinett, 64, who lives a few doors down from the house where Ms Rayner claimed she lived in Vicarage Road, Stockport, also reacted with anger. The car salesman said of her being cleared: 'It's disgusting. I co-operated with the police but when they knock on my door next time, I won't bother.
'It's the police's job to investigate election law. She is potentially going to the next deputy prime minister – it's not right.'
They've declined to do their job. Which shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone.

That Accident North Of The Wall Is No Longer Waiting To Happen...
...it's happened:
A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being savaged by an 'out-of-control' XL bully-type dog that had attacked another man in the street minutes before.
The man was attacked by the 'bulldog-type' animal in the area of Tinto View, Hamilton, Scotland at around 5pm, prompting Police Scotland to send armed response officers to the scene who subsequently shot the animal dead. The blood's on your hands as well as the idiot owner, Siobhian, if this turns out to be true:
The Record understands the canine had been rescued from England. Police say inquiries to establish the animal's breed are ongoing.
I've had a quick glance at social media, which is exactly as I suspected, full of smooth-brained 'animal lovers' claiming 'any dog can be savage' and 'it's the owner, not the dog' and 'why did the police not tranquilise it' as they always do in these instances.
At least the Scottish taxpayer's not on the hook for the mutant mutt's long stay in kennels until a judge finally signs a destruction order so well done, Police Scotland, well done indeed.

Seeing Sense...
Humza Yousaf made a ‘humiliating U-turn’ on XL bully dogs yesterday, promising to ban them amid concerns about the numbers being brought to Scotland.
The First Minister said legislation would be introduced to replicate measures introduced by the UK Government south of the Border.A situation that could have been avoided easily, if only the SNP cared more about the welfare of native Scots than about grandstanding and hurling insults at 'the auld enemy'...
The U-turn came just six days after Mr Yousaf said a ban was not ‘required or needed given the strict regime we have in place’.No wonder his nickname is 'Humza Yousless'...
Community safety minister Siobhian Brown is due to give more details of the legislation in a statement to MSPs next week. Ms Brown previously shared a social media message from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals which contained a picture of an XL bully dog alongside the text: ‘Dangerous breed? Nope. Breed-specific legislation? Nope.’
'Humiliating U-Turn? Yep!'
Mr Yousaf denied his government had mishandled the issue, and claimed the UK Government announced its legislation ‘without any consultation with the Scottish Government’.
But it is understood that three separate letters were sent to SNP ministers by the UK Government ahead of its legislation coming into force.
Did they get lost in the post, Humza?

More Of This, Please!
The video, which has now gone viral, shows a confident Trudeau waving at supporters who had lined up to meet him as he marches up to greet them with his security guards standing just yards away. The 51-year-old shakes someone's hand and waves at a child in a stroller before attempting to shake the hand of another crowd member who says: 'I'm not shaking your hand bro, you're a f***ing piece of s***.'
One wonders what he was doing in the crowd. Waiting for this chance?
And of course, with the typical arrogance of the politician, Trudeau stops to argue. After all, he can surely get the better of his heckler, can't he?
Trudeau looks visibly taken aback and asks; 'Why's that, sir?' The man replies: 'You f***ed up the entire country.
Trudeau then asks: 'How did I mess up this country?' The man replies: 'Can anybody afford a home?' He starts ranting about carbon taxes asking what the people are getting charged for. Trudeau calmly explains that the government is putting the price on pollution and 'returning it to families like yours'.
'You're sending it over to Ukraine, right?' the man counters. 'You're sending it over to the guy you were with who slaughtered his own country.'
So, how does a world leader, a man supposedly selected for his quick thinking and mature outlook, handle this?
Before walking off, Trudeau says: 'You've been listening to Putin have you?'
'You know a lot of Russian disinformation.'
Yes. Like a five year old losing a playground spat. What a statesman!

Call It What It Is...
Croydon MP Sarah Jones attended the police press conference alongside Croydon mayor Jason Perry. Ms Jones said: 'I'm heartbroken that a child in my town has been killed on her way to school and I cannot imagine the grief that her family will be going through at this time.''Been killed'? She wasn't run over. She didn't have part of a building collapse on her. She was stabbed by some savage. The police know what to call it:
Met Police commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said tonight: 'The senseless murder of a 15-year-old girl on her way to school is impossible to comprehend.'Why don't you?

"They Won't Have BoJo To Kick Around Anymore..."
His departure stunned Rishi Sunak and there was dismay in No 10 at the prospect of a fresh round of Tory bloodletting.
Mr Johnson's decision to go comes three and a half years after he won a landslide election victory, and will raise fresh doubts about whether the Conservatives can hang on to power at next year's election.Après moi, le déluge, indeed...
Mr Johnson's decision to go came just hours after his close ally Nadine Dorries quit when she was blocked from receiving a peerage in his resignation honours. Their departures mean the PM faces a difficult double by-election. And Tory whips were last night on red alert for the possibility of more resignations among Mr Johnson's supporters. It could be a deluge to rival the Kakhovka Dam, at that!

Shutting The Kennel Door...
Downing Street says work is underway to try and reduce dog attacks following a spate of incidents in Greater Manchester and across the country. Now, Downing Street says police, councils and animal welfare experts are teaming up to explore ways to reduce dog attacks and promote responsible ownership.
“There have been some horrific cases and our thoughts and sympathies are with those that have been affected,” the Prime Minister’s official spokesman told PA.
...after the fighting breeds have bolted.
One thing you could do is issue stronger guidance to police farces to use the tools and opportunities they have to ensure none of these things can do it again:
North Yorkshire Police have had to evacuate a village recreation ground near Selby after a dog attacked its owner. The force said: “Police were called to Thorpe Willoughby at around 10.26am on 30 May to a report of a large, aggressive dog that was biting its owner.
"The dog was eventually contained in a high fenced area of a local park and the park was evacuated."
Great! Even the Elmer Fudds of the northern force can't miss, surely?
"Officers contacted a number of animal experts including veterinary practices, the RSPCA, local zoos and wildlife park to request assistance with bringing the dog safely under control." "
The dog, described as an American bulldog and weighing around 50 kilogrammes, was eventually sedated by a vet and safely moved to a kennel."
What a pity Shotgun Cop wasn't taking a well earned break in Yorkshire...
Police have seized dangerous dog on the loose after a teenage girl was attacked. Cops in Port Clarence were hunting the XL Bully-type breed after the 15-year-old was mauled and seriously injured on Monday night.
A spokesperson for the force has since confirmed the dog, understood to be aged between four and five, has been seized.
Cleveland Police told The Mirror on Tuesday morning that no arrests had been made in connection with the attack and an investigation is ongoing into what happened.
What more is there to 'investigate'..?

You're Wasting Your Time, Sadly...
Most of the claims about trophy hunting put out by animal rights activists are wrong, MPs have been warned ahead of a key vote today.
Conservationists say that in the last Commons debate nearly three-quarters of statements in favour of a blanket ban were questionable. They are battling to correct the ‘simplistic’ narrative championed by celebrities.
Sadly, simplistic narratives are all these virtue-signalling idiots can ever grasp. Actual facts elude them constantly, which is why we are being dragooned into nonsense like OLEZ expansions, '15 minute cities' and Net Zero.
They, along with African leaders and grassroots groups, have called on Britain to allow certain trophies to be imported if it is proven the animals were hunted ethically. They argue that total bans are unsuccessful because they destroy the incentive for farmers to keep big game on their land and earn money from hunters.
Revenues from selective hunting keep locals in jobs and also help pay for patrols against poachers, the real enemy of conservation.
None of that matters to the idiots that are in sway to the slebs and activists. Some are genuinely animal lovers, some are rabid authoritarians and the rest are...well, simply dim.
Professor Dickman warned: ‘Many thousands of wild animals will die in appalling and indiscriminate ways – far more than are killed in trophy hunting.
'True, we will no longer see the grinning faces of rich white hunters celebrating their kills.
‘Instead, we will see the grinning faces of rich white celebrities celebrating a “win” that drives more killing.’
Sadly, Prof, the idiots in power see that as an acceptable result. It's not about the animals at all. It often isn't for the slebs and activists, and it almost never is for the MPs...

Your Wee Dram Is About To Get More Expensive...
The Scottish First Minister could stage a new crackdown on the whisky industry north of the border. The move could be introduced amid fears emissions from the "angel's share" of casks are harming both the environment and human health.
Good grief, it's one of the few things Scotland provides that people want to buy!
Researchers have been asked to suggest possible "mitigation strategies" for "controlling" whisky-related emissions. However, this has led to a backlash from the industry.
Sadly, not the sort of 'backlash' that would result in the election of a new First Minister...

But They Are, If Anyone Doesn't See That Now...
The Labour leader said he was determined to prove no rules were broken. “The idea that I would casually break the rules is wrong. I don’t think those who are accusing me of it believe it themselves … They are trying to say all politicians are the same.”...then the only people they are fooling are themselves.
In a statement at Labour HQ, he said: “If the police decide to issue me with a FPN, I would of course do the right thing and step down … The British public deserve politicians who think the rules apply to them.”We'll never get that. Because it's clear that if someone enters politics with that belief, it doesn't take long before they are corrupted beyond any hope of salvation.

Oh, There Definitely Was A 'Need Or Purpose', Humza...
...it's bloody hilarious:
The Scottish Health Secretary has been left unimpressed after a BBC journalist tweeted a video of him falling off a knee scooter while racing down a corridor at Holyrood Parliament.
Humza Yousaf said he wasn't sure there was a 'need or purpose' for the short clip to be shared by Glenn Campbell after it began receiving thousands of 'likes' on Twitter.
And it perfectly pricks the pomposity of this puffed-up little goon. And, as these things usually do, shows him up for what he is:
Some social media users accused Mr Yousaf of hypocrisy after he previously said he 'couldn't wait to see the meme' after MP Douglas Ross fell over while acting as assistant referee during the Scottish Cup Final in 2018
He tweeted following the incident: 'Best moment of the 2nd half - Douglas Ross MP decks it a belter! Can't wait to see the meme...'
And also clearly not as someone fit for his role:
Social media users pointed out that instruction manuals for the device available online repeatedly advise users to not travel at speed.
'We have a person in charge of a £15bn portfolio who hasn’t read the instructions,' wrote one alongside a screenshot of the manual which reads: 'Do not scoot at high speeds.'Well, can't leave you without the video, can I?

If You Don't Like The Views Of A Senior Politician On Anti-Semitism...
Sir Keir Starmer is heading for a by-election defeat that could end his leadership amid claims his tough stance on antisemitism has cost him the trust of Muslim voters....then kindly fuck off out of this country and go and live in one that suits you better. You won't be missed.
He faces a bitter backlash from Muslim communities in Labour-held Batley and Spen, with even his wife Victoria's Jewish heritage apparently being cited as one reason not to vote Labour.
Well, Kier, I hope you've learned a lesson from this. That lesson being if you court the votes of repellent people, you find that you're beholden to them as a result. And that having them in the party is a mistake.
Oh. I see you haven't.

But She'll Get Better In Six Years..?
The founder of Kids Company said she could not have been a director of the failed charity because she 'does not know what month or day it is', the High Court heard yesterday.
I can well believe it, except she clearly knows when it's dinnertime...
Camila Batmanghelidjh is fighting against being banned from holding a company directorship for six years.
Wait, why? Why fight something you're claiming you're incapable of doing?
The Official Receiver, which is bringing the case, says she was a 'de facto director' of the charity who told employees it would be run 'in accordance with her vision above all else' and 'people who did not agree should leave'.
Plenty of interviews in the media to show just that. I doubt the CPS barristers are breaking a sweat over this.
Kids Company was backed by politicians including David Cameron, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
None of whom noticed anything amiss. Says a lot, eh?

Translation: "He's An Idiot Who Tweets What He Thinks You Want To Hear..."
Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf was slammed over a tweet mourning slain gangland figure Omer Sadiq - which was later deleted.
The Nats minister offered his condolences to the murdered hood, 32, in a bizarre tweet hours after the savage knife attack in Glasgow on Tuesday afternoon.
Mr Yousaf later wrote: “Dreadfully sad news. My thoughts are with the young man’s family, friends and local community.”
The post was later deleted - and the politician was sent scores of messages urging him to apologise amid a huge online backlash.
"...just like any other politician, actually."
A Scottish Government spokesperson said: “Mr Yousaf was responding to the incident that took place in his constituency, as the local MSP, and was not aware of the man who was fatally stabbed, or his background, when he initially posted.”
Fancy expecting a politician to look carefully at what he's saying to the voters!

It's Certainly 'Broken' And 'Deeply Inhumane', Nicola...
After growing up in privilege, Ms Baguma decided to make the move to Britain to find 'greener pastures' after she found it difficult to find a good job, her brother said. She had been in Scotland for 14 years.
Details of her life emerged as Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon blamed Ms Baguma's death on Britain's asylum system, calling it 'broken' and 'deeply inhumane'.
A system that allows a patently false claim for asylum from someone who clearly didn't need it drag on for 14 years certainly is pretty broken. But that wasn't what you meant, was it, little Miss Krankie?
The Ugandan had lost her job in Scotland after her leave to remain expired, and was no longer allowed to work.
And back when this story first appeared, the usual suspects stood up and barked and clapped like trained seals, claiming it was a symbol of Britain's 'inhumanity', and how could she afford a flight home, etc, etc, ad infinitum.
'None of us can believe that she died in such circumstances,' Ms Baguma's brother Eric said. 'We have money. We are not poor. If she needed something, all she had to do was ask. It is wrong for British politicians and media to say she was penniless.
'She went to a good school that not all Ugandans can afford. She had everything she needed. We are shocked. Why did she not ask us for help?'
Because she'd had 14 years here draining the taxpayer and gullible charities dry getting help she didn't need, perhaps?
