February Recital

Each of the kiddos performed one of their instruments at the recital this afternoon:

BB School Love

BB recently went on 2 field trips.  The 4th grade has been practicing their recorders, and got to perform with the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra.  BB was excited to see Little Lady's cello teacher there.

BB also had the opportunity to go to the KU Science and Engineering Department to do STEM with his Gifted class.  He was particularly proud of his Pacman tower to keep Pacman from eating the purple ghost.

Family Time

I love when the stars align and they all get along.  Family night can be so much fun.

Enjoying the Weather

We were on day 6 of no school and going a bit stir crazy.  President's Day ended up being the perfect weather.  It seems that everyone had the same idea to go to a park.  We tried a local park, but it was overflowing.  We left and went to the school playground.  It was still really busy, but at least we got out for a little while.

Little Boy Fun

This month Little Guy wanted to go to Sonic for dinner and then get a treat from Target to have while watching the Bake Squad.  I'd never seen it before, but I get the allure now.  It's a fun show to watch.

He told me it was the best date of his life.  I love that it doesn't take much to make him happy.

BB had similar plans.  Originally, he wanted to play indoor mini-golf, but the evening is reserved for adults only, so he got dessert at Sonic and then watched Despicable Me 3.  He loved it.

Be My Valentine

Another of valentine love letters to my kiddos:  It's my favorite thing about Valentine's Day.

The Littles had their school party as well.  Since Covid they no longer let you visit all the different parties, but I did get to volunteer at BB's party.

Little Guy was excited I came to pick him up from his classroom.

Fun Celebrations

We have a sweet friend who is one of the coaches on the Offense of the Kansas City Chiefs.  Friends gathered together to welcome Porter home and congratulate his family on the Super Bowl win.  (Funny side note - we weren't watching the game, but we knew exactly how the Chiefs were doing, because every time they scored people would set off cannons.  We knew the moment they won, because our town was lit up with fireworks).   We're really happy for the Elletts.

Prepping for Valentine's Day

The boys were excited about their valentine.  At first they were really disappointed, because the school banned all edible items from valentines this year.  They felt it negated the point of valentines, so I went in search of a valentines they thought would be fun.  My friend had a whoopee cushion valentine that she sent me.  The boys loved it.

I went with the lowest maintenance route for valentine boxes.  I bought themed boxes from Hallmark that the boys decorated with stickers.  Easy Peasy!

Winning at School Spirit

My friend is amazing with her School Spirit Week.  For one of the days she dressed up as Coach Reid.  Kara nails it!

February Blocks

This month's block for do.Good Stitches was more scrappy goodness.  It is a 16-patch with a triangle.  We had to make 4.

Happy Evening!

Little Lady got to go to the temple for the first time this weekend.  She was so excited.  I was really hoping she would at least like it, but she said it was amazing.  I got a little choked up, because it feels like a big milestone.

We had celebratory ice cream at the Betty Rae's downtown.

The littles were with the Altmans while we went to the temple.  They painted and got a treat from the store and watched a movie in the van.  They told me it was the best night of their life, so everyone was living the dream that evening.

Delicious Goals

Little Guy made a goal to learn how to make waffles.  He had the perfect excuse - we were celebrating MG's birthday.  MG wanted waffles and buttermilk syrup for his birthday breakfast.  He was also pretty excited about his birthday treat - Crumble Cookie!
