Spurring Along

Watching beginning sports is its own form of entertainment.  Little Man has been playing basketball this winter, and it's hilarious to watch half the kids completely out in la-la land and the other half traveling with the ball instead of dribbling.  I'll be honest.  I spend most of his games giggling.  Today was his last day of basketball and he was proud of his basketball medal.

Little Man falls into the la-la land category.  Today at least he was on the right side of the court most of the time.  His favorite part is practicing dribbling before they have their games.

To teach them positions, spacing, and defense they tell them to stand on a dot and put their arms out.  Little Man does such a good job that he defends on BOTH sides of the court.
Aw, the good times!  I asked him if he liked basketball and he said, "Yes, but the games are too long."

Double Pinwheels

I looked at the calendar and realized I only had 2 days left in February, so I thought I'd better hurry up and complete this month's do.Good Stitches blocks.  With only 28 days in the month, March really sneaks up on ya.

I love this month's block.  I don't know why, but I always love a good pinwheel, and this is a double one (tutorial here).  Erica asked for apricot colors - oranges and pinks with the dark as the outer pinwheel and a complimentary lighter shade as the smaller pinwheel.

A Chevron...Almost

I was totally excited about this quilt top.  I used all scraps.  It always feels like an even greater accomplishment when I use small scraps.  I really liked the Bloomin' Peaks Quilt pattern, but I wanted it to be a baby quilt, so I needed to make it a lot smaller.  I was feeling all proud of myself and then I noticed an issue when I taking pictures of it.  Um, the middle chevron is not quite a chevron.  It goes too low.  Because the middle chevron is messed up, the bottom one is as well, because I put that one together based on the middle one.  Woops.  It's not horrible, but it's not good either.  So annoying!
I'm sure I'll still finish it, but I'm going to leave it alone for a couple of days, so I can be ok with it.

Since it's been months since I actually made a Work in Progress list I suppose I may as well do that.

do.Good Stitches February- I've pulled the fabric & hope to sew it this weekend
do.Good Stitches December- Fishy quilt needs to be layered and quilted.
Building Blocks Quilt Along- Um, I'm still back on the August blocks.  Ya- I haven't touched this in months.  I probably should start working on that again.

Christmas Quilt Top- The only thing even more neglected than the quilt along is this quilt top.  It's been sitting in my closet for over 2 years now waiting for me to layer it.

There's nothing else in the pipeline that's pressing, so I can start up the quilt along again after I get a couple of these quilt tops turned into finished quilts...maybe.

Linking Patches

School cancellations, life's obligations, and a yucky cold have wreaked havoc on my sewing time this week, but I did manage to finally cut out the background fabric and lay the quilt top all out.  Now I need to find some time to sew the rows together.

Pile o' Patches

My free time has been limited lately, but I've been slowly but surely chipping away at scrappy penny patches.  I have a pile of them now and I think I may just barely have enough to start putting a quilt top together.  That will be next week's project.

It Arrived!

Now we just have to wait for Teia to arrive.  One more month...
