Review: Swear on this Life - Renee Carlino - August 2016 Imagine if you had dreams of becoming a writer and then one day, a friend gives you a book that has sold millions of copies and is becoming a literary phenomenon you read it and it is your childhood fictionalized including the worst parts that you have tried for years to block out. That is what happened to Emmeline when her roommate Cara raved about a new book by an upcoming author named J. Colby. Emmeline starts to read it and soon is chucked into a world of Emerson and Jake, as she goes along she soon discovers that her childhood best friend Jase has fictionalized their life and is telling the book from her POV. She is Emerson, how could he do this to her, especially since they haven't seen each other in at least twenty years? As the book goes on, it will confront Emmeline and help her not only move on from the past but she will soon learn that the boy she loved with all her heart, never forgot about her and loved her too...

Review: Cross Kill - Book #24.4 Alex Cross Series - James Patterson - June 2016 To clear my TBR bookshelf of all my print books as I certainly have a mighty stack of them, during the week - I try and read at least one a day. Some have been sitting on my bookshelf for years including this one. One series that I love is the Alex Cross series, it has to be my favorite series by James Patterson by far. After reading them, I have seen the characters grow up and new ones brought in.  In this book, we have Alex and John helping out at a homeless shelter serving food. During this event, a shooter is hiding in the pantry - he shoots a couple of helpers and when Alex and John go to help, as Alex hesitates - his friend gets shot in the head and Alex in the chest. Luckily for Alex, he had his bulletproof vest on but John wasn't as lucky and ended up in hospital and fighting for his life in a coma. The reason Alex hesitated was because the shooter looked identical to Gary Sonjei - but how can...

Review: Way Down Below - Book #1 Way Down Below Series - Nicole Thorn and Sarah Hall - November 2016 I wasn't too sure what to expect with this particular book as what had grabbed me was the cover, it is a particularly interesting artistic cover. The book started with the introduction of Luc and his twin sisters chasing down the destruction that their brother Donald had caused. We learn that Luc and his siblings are all half-siblings that share the same father - Lucifer. On the other side of the spectrum, we have Shiloh and Faith who have been brought up in very conservative and straight-laced Christian homes. They have been raised to follow the rules and have the beliefs that woman are to obey men and are vessels for raising children. One thing leads to another and Shiloh, and Faith meet Luc and his twin sisters Blanche and Blair. Over time Faith starts to change and develops feelings for Blanche and Blair - so much that she goes full-on changi...

Review: Black Sheep - Tabatha Vargo

Review: Black Sheep - Tabatha Vargo - September 2016 Tyson did not have the best childhood growing up, in fact, it was downright awful, and when I always read books where the child was treated like this, my heart always goes out to the characters. When he was twelve years old, he was living with his druggie Dad and decided to put an end to it all. One thing led to another, and eventually, Tyson found himself living with an old high school buddy of his Dad's and his family. The Palmers were amazing and took Tyson in and treated him like he was one of their flock. From the day that he arrived, he was smitten by their daughter Nicole. For both of them it was love from the very first sight but of course being foster siblings meant that it was severely frowned upon to do anything and could be seen as incest. When it came to Nicole, she knew that there would be no-one else for her except for Tyson as he always had her heart. Black Sheep has a lot o...
