Review: The Seat Beside Me - Nancy Moser

Review: The Seat Beside Me - Book #1 Steadfast Surrender - Nancy Moser - February 2002 This particular book recently came to my attention as a freebie in the Christian Book Finds newsletter, and as a fan of Nancy Moser's books, it sounded interesting. I wasn't too aware of what was to expect. The book starts with a reporter who was supposed to be on a flight to Phoenix, but her mother rings her to tell her she has miraculously recovered and no longer needs to fly. The book then jumps to the airport, where we met a variety of characters. The characters all seem to be escaping something or having issues in their own lives. The characters hop on the plane ready to go to Phoenix, but sadly during the flight, it will crash. Before the crash though, there is a lot of talk about God and his plan for one another which is the Christian part of this book. Unlike a few other Christian fiction books, this one does have a heavy Christian theme and base to the writin...

Review: A Trusting Heart - Shannon Guymon

Looking for a nice romance book?   Review: A Trusting Heart - Shannon Guymon - July 2002 It's actually quite amazing how much it can mean to an author if they have an amazing and attractive book cover as with Shannon's book "A Trusting Heart" , I had the cover on the left which in my mind is far more attractive than the one on the right and it got me thinking about whether I brought the book because I loved the cover or whether it was the blurb that got me. A Trusting Heart starts with the main character heading towards her 10 year High School Reunion - at High School Megan Garrett was the "IT Girl" . The Cheerleader , the Popular one , the one everybody wanted to be and eventually she got engaged to her high school boyfriend who was a jock - Dylan except things didn't quite work out and so now here she is ten years later - single and working in a real estate office and living off commission etc. If you saw her now compared to her HS...

I Don't Know How She Does It - Alison Pearson

Synopsis: I Don't Know How She Does It - Allison Pearson - 2002 ( reprinted 2011) Delightfully smart and heartbreakingly poignant, Allison Pearson’s smash debut novel has exploded onto bestseller lists as “The national anthem for working mothers.” Hedge-fund manager, wife, and mother of two, Kate Reddy manages to juggle nine currencies in five time zones and keep in step with the Teletubbies. But when she finds herself awake at 1:37 a.m. in a panic over the need to produce a homemade pie for her daughter’s school, she has to admit her life has become unrecognizable. With panache, wisdom, and uproarious wit, I Don’t Know How She Does It brilliantly dramatizes the dilemma of every working mom. This scintillating first novel has already taken its author's native England by storm, and in the tradition of Bridget Jones, to which it is likely to be compared, will almost certainly do the same here. The Bridget comparison has only limited validity, however: both books have a winning fe...
