Um... hi. I'm back again.

*Blows Dust off blog*

Hi there.  It has been a very long time since I have used this thing.  I did have plans of using a wordpress blog, but it does not get anyway near the traffic that Blogger does.  It was being used (and still will be) for more roleplaying stuff.

I have updated some stuff there, which I didn't include on here.  That being a second Grey Hunter pack and a Rune Priest were completed.  See below..

Space Wolves nearing the end

So, I found a little bit of time this weekend (between getting smashed at Talisman) to get the bases of the wolf squad finished off.  Again, these are quick photos taken on my phone camera so don't expect too much.  So, first of all....

The bases.  I decided that just sand and paint would be boring, so I wanted to add a little bit more character to them.  A quick dig through my assorted ork bitz gave me some stuff to chuck on there next to stones.  The final touch, and I think it adds a lot to them, is the small pieces of static grass.  These are the GW 'Mordheim Turf'.  They are really nice, coming in a pre-made little patch of different sizes, costing £8.  This box should see me through at least another three or four squads.  Not too bad.

Then we have multiple shots of the squad.  I still haven't decided on the Great Company, but otherwise they are complete.  I tried to get a good photo, but without a proper light tent it wasn't going to happen.  Anyway, here they are:

Hopefully I'll get the company mark on there soon, then it is my first squad fully completed!

More hunters

More work today equals two finished Hunters, minus the bases.  Also some quick pictures, not the best I have done.

The first of the Pack

For those who read my previous post, a good month ago, will know that my lamp broke.  And now, it is fixed!  Well, actually I got a new one, an even better one.  I received it on Wednesday, and ever since been plugging away at a wolf.  A Space Wolf.

A while ago I decided that I needed another 40k army, this time something with armour.  And, being a lover of Anglo-Saxon and Viking history, I felt nothing sounded better than - VIKINGS IN SPACE.  Aka, the Space Wolves.  I have had a couple of boxes of stuff sat here since they came out, and just before the lamp went I converted (only very slightly) and prepared my first squad of Grey Hunters.

Snikrot and his Kommandos

The unit is finally completed, 6 members with their vicious leader of the stand-in snkirot.

Snikrot + Paint

I finally got to painting, and I started off with Snikrot.  Overall I am not happy with him.

Kommandos WIP

So, I have been working on 6 Kommandos, including Snikrot and here is what I have come up with.  I am mostly proud, and think they'll look better with paint and a base on them.

I have shrunk the images down, so for larger images click on them.

Kitbash Snikrot

After proxying a squad of kommandos I enjoyed the use of them, and of course snikrot was part of them.  I am a fan of doing this hobby on the cheap, and trying out some skills I decided to kitbash my own Snikrot.  Overall I am happy with him, I think he looks suitably brutal but also feel as though something is missing.  I can't spot it, so I am asking the intermawebs.  Any thoughts on what me might be missing?

Complete Deffkopta

And thus... it is done.  I have even entered it into the LO Contest.  Woooo!

Deffkopta nearing completion

So, I have been working on a model over the weekend.  I think I went a bit overboard with the wear and tear, the wings especially.  I know the pictures aren't very good, I just wanted some quick ones and once the base is complete I'll get better ones, so they'll have to do.

Necromunda Gang ptII

Managed to get a hold of a box of Empire Militia today and set about making the rest of my gang.  Overall I am rather happy with them, except for the pistol on the right hand juvie.  It just looks too much like a bolt pistol with some pipes on.  The other one is a cut down lasgun from an old guard kit.

You will also notice that I have gone with a bearded theme. ;)  One reason being it was only the decent heads I had to hand, and I like beards. :D  I am undecided on the bases and colours.  The bases I did consider doing a small pool of liquid with some industrial bits on the base.

Oh, and I have made a choice of ork bases (no pictures), going with a desert colour.

Necromunda Gang

Started work on my Necromunda gang, three guys so far.  A heavy stubber and two lasguns.  They still need a little bit of work, especially the last one as you can see the divide between the two halves.  The heavy stubber conversion I am unsure of, it works but could be better.

Big Mek Conversion

So, this is the newest big mek to my army.  I liked the idea of giving him a blow torch, so I shortened a burner and gave him a special spanner.  The rest is just bitz and pieces from different ork kits, cut up and glued on.  I quite like it, I think it looks suitably orky and a huge mismatch.

Da Green Tide Takes to Da Skyz!

So a semi busy week, using what time I got at my desk I managed to put together another painted ork:

BA Librarian Update

OK, I haven't done much painting recently - not had the bug to do so, might see this week.  I did however finally get around to taking some pictures of the completed BA librarian.

[40k] Space Marine Librarian

So, I have finally gotten around to starting my project for the Charity Sale I try to hold on LO.  The theme is a 40k HQ model, and wanting to step away from doing anything with beards for a short while I decided to go with a straight marine.

Rethinking Orks

So, I have managed to get a few games in with my Orks and I enjoying playing them, however I feel like I need to re-work my list a little.  First of all, here is my current list I have been using (1500pts).

Salamander Apothecary - Complete

OK, well he's done.  Overall I am really liking him.  I happy with most of the painting, especially the chapter icon.  Its one of my better pieces of freehand so far.  I did however HATE painting his base, and so I am not fully happy with how it looks.  My first attempt at lava bases and its OK, but I think I should have used another rock of something to give it something to flow around.  But that wasn't the main problem.  That was indeed Vallejo paints.  Or more specifically the Game Colour range of reds.  There are terrible!  The "Red Gore" dried PINK!  The "Blood Red" is about two tones higher than it should be and is really bright.  So, I struggled.  Overall I am not that happy with the base, its OK but not good.  Luckily he's only pinned on, so I can try again another time.
