Happy Birthday Cupcakes!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend! This one was packed with activities and events - and today we had a birthday party for my friends son and daughter - so I thought it would be fun to make a card for both of them that was the same, but different :) I used the awesome stamp set Build a Treat from Taylored Expressions and used my favorite cupcake combination (they are both solid images so makes it fun and quick to stamp). I also have a whole box of 6x6 pads that I haven't used since last year (hangin' my head down in shame) and so I picked out one of my Basic Grey paper pads and used the combo of papers that had more green and blue in them in one card and on the other card more reds and pinks.

I love that it was made from the same paper pad - I kept the layout simple - just oval cut the image and popped it up on Labels 20 and then onto the Frame it Up 1 die from Taylored Expressions and added a little pennant from the Pennant Border die from Taylored Expressions:

Here is picture of each of the cards. I love this sentiment: Happy Birthday Cupcake - I stamped this and cut it out with a Tag label and then strung a ribbon through it:

Here is the second card - I love this sentiment: "For my Favorite Lil' Cupcake" Awwwww, how cute is that sentiment?! I love it - I did the same layout and kept the layout the same with the liquid pearls around the border of the oval and tag:

Card ingredients:
Paper: Lime Rickey from Basic Grey and Buttercream Cardstock
Stamps: Build a Treat stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Inks: Memento Inks (Danube BLue, Bahama Blue, Bamboo Green, Lilac, Rose Red, Angel Pink and RIch Cocoa and copics)
Accessories: Frame it UP 1 die and Pennant Border die from Taylored Expressions, Spellbinders Oval and Labels 20 dies, liquid pearls, tags, dimensionals, copics and ribbon from stash

I loved making these cards together and loved it even more to give it to the kids today at their birthday parties :) The winter birthday season is creeping up on me - it feels like there are so many December birthdays - I need to get stampin' now! :) Can't wait to make more!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Hugs,
Sankari :)

2 Sketches 4 You - Have A Sweet Birthday!

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope your weekend was awesome - mine was really nice - (more on that tomorrow) but I am still recovering from traveling and am amazed that it is already Monday! Isn't it crazy how fast time is flying?
Well, Monday brings another sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You and the sponsor this week is Sakura of America - who have an amazing variety of glaze, gelly, metallic and souffle pens! I love that they can write on dark cardstock and the flow is very smooth and easy. I used the glaze pens for my card for Kazan's lovely sketch #36 in which I created a birthday card for someone very special :) and my favorite part of the whole card was coloring in the cupcakes with the glaze pens:

Card Details:
Paper: blue cardstock is from Bazzill Basics and the DP is from stash
Stamps: For the Love of Cupcakes from Taylored Expressions
Ink: Rose Red from SU! and Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Sakura glaze pens
Accessories: Spellbinders, dimensionals, Hot pink with White dotted double edged ribbon from Taylored Expressions, measuring spoons from doodlebug designs, scalloped square punch cut in half for the edges

Its hard to show the glaziness of the glaze gel pens - so here are some more pics of close ups of the glaze pens:

here's another pic of the glaze pens on the cupcake:

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today and I hope you get to play along with this week's sketch challenge!!

Happy Monday!
hugs!
Sankari :)

Feel Better Soon Card!

Hi Everyone,

Kristina has her 52nd Color Inspiration Challenge up - and wow! what a cool pic to draw the inspiration from (the picture comes from her blog reader Traci). I have to say - that I was psyched to see these colors - what a great color combo - it felt so retro urban chique (is that even a term?).

I couldn't wait to play along - and created a feel better soon card using Taylor's Friday Cupcake sketch #68 (which I turned counter-clockwise) and using Taylor's newest cutest release of stamps: Doctor's Orders. I love this set and these two are among my fave images (but they are all my fave :) - who can't resist cupcakes? And for some reason - I just can't get enough of this tissue box - it is just the cutest tissue box :)! - so I created a little row with some actual tissues in them :)

This whole card is an ode to paper piecing.. holy cupcakes - that was a lot of tiny cutting and paper piecing - does this ever happen to you... you are paper piecing something tiny and all of the sudden it drops to the floor - where there are hundreds of tiny scraps! Ack! Okay - that's what happened with these paper pieced pillows... I couldn't find them after I cut them - because they dropped on the floor and were in a sea of tiny scraps (yes, I need to clean my scrap corner floor more often :) but i finally found it - yay! I love the image of this cute little cupcake sitting in bed with a thermometer in his mouth!

Card Details:

Paper: All of it is from my scrap stash (I have been forcing myself to use something from my scrap stash in every card - but yet my scrap stash is still heaped high - how is that possible???
Stamps: Doctor's Orders from Taylored Expressions
Ink: More Mustard
Accessories: Spellbinders Nesties (Blossom), Rhinestones blue, dimensionals, Circle cutters from Creative Memories
Technique: Paper Piecing

I had a lot of fun with these colors - they were challenging and fun! Well, I am off to get some spring cleaning done! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Thanks so much for visiting my little corner :)
Ciao for now :)

Peace, Love and Cupcakes!

Good Morning Everyone,

Things here have been a little bit busy. We had a little unfortunate accident in the family - but everyone is okay now and recovering... times like these you are reminded about the preciousness of life. I have been a little busy taking care of some family matters... but am hoping for more play time this week :) Hope you all had a lovely Easter... speaking of which how about a Christmas card!!

(did you like the transition??? lol!!) Every monday my Christmas Stampin' All Year Long comes together to create a Christmas card - so that we can actually be ahead of the game with our holidy cards before the Christams holiday insanity. This week's challenge was a sketch challenge - and here is my take on the sketch:

Sorry for being a little MIA recently... haven't had much time to stamp - just so much family and health issues... so this feels great to get some card therapy in... and so this is a super quick card... I timed it at 23 minutes :). I loved using the Christmas Key Ingredients Kit from Taylored Expressions for this little holiday cupcake card... i love these christmas papers... and I of course love this little cupcake with the sweet holly trimming at the top.

Card Details:
Paper: Christmas Key Ingredients kit from Taylored Expressions
Ink: Chocolate Chip from Stampin Up!
Stamps Season's Sweetings Stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Corner Rounder, silver marker, liquid pearls for the cherry, 1 3/4 circle punch from Stampin Up!
Shows Watched: 30Rock on Hulu

Hope you will check out the Christams Stampin All Year Blog and join in on the fun!!! I am psyched each week to knock down another Christams card!!! Woot!!!

Wishing all of you a wonderful Happy Happy new week!

Got Cake???

Good Thursday Morning Everyone,

Here is a card that I made using Laura's awesome sketch #21 over at 2S4U - LOVE it!!!  I love the circle and the square element of the sketch. I also did the Caardvarks challenge which was to create a critter card - just the name of which (critter card) makes me totally smile :) !!! I also was psyched to play with the OCC challenge which was to add a doodle to your card or creation.

For these challenges, I had to pull out Harold - I totally love this little guy - he is just soooo darn cute! He always brings a smile to my face and just stamping him makes me so happy...! I paper pieced him onto brown cardstock and then filled his eyes in and then drew his eyeballs - which made me giggle :) I love his sweet expression and love the way he is holding a cupcake (i had to add a little bling to that cute little cherry).

Card Details:
Paper: K & Companyy
Ink: Adirondack Expresso, Staz-on Black
Stamps: Clear Stamps
Accessories: ribbon, bling, silver pen, corner rounder for the scallops, liquid pearls, sponge dauber, glue dots, dimensionals, Creative Memories Circle cutting system.

I hope you guys are all enjoying your Thursdays - I for one am sooo excited for Friday!!! Hope this finds all of you in good health and happiness!!!

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #45 - Happy Birthday Cupcake Flowers

Good Morning Everyone!

Quick post before I run out for the day - (have the days suddenly become faster and crazier?) seems like there isn't enough time to get everything done. Here is Taylor's Sketch #45 from her Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge. Taylor does a sketch challenge every Friday where if you have cupcakes, why not use them in your card! I realized that for the last 2 sketches that I haven't used cupcake stamps! So I wanted to fix that right away!

Last night, as I was talking to my friend - I was doodling some flowers on a piece of paper and it kind of reminded me of a birthday card that I got from my mother last year - which was a flower with a cake on it - so I thought how about a flower with some cupcakes!

So I drew the whole image and then cut it out with my oval cutters from Creative Memories. I colored it in with some pencils and then a little stickle and liquid pearl for the frosting :)  I used the colors from 22nd color challenge the lovely ladies at the Color Throwdown this week  - which are pink, green and black (the black is very minimal in this card- mainly just for the drawing pen color) and I had to add a tiny bit of orange to give it a little pop - hope that's ok?)

The oval was matted onto a dusty pink oval. I used my Creative Memories decorative cutter to create a wave pattern for the bottom panel. And then embossed the sentiment "Happy Birthday" which is from Taylor's Sweet Celebrations. All of this was adhered onto a crystal glitter cardstock from DCVW - it is totally glittery and totally hard to take a picture of. I adhered some matching ribbon as a panel - the ribbon is from Taylored Expression - I was going to try to make a bow - but then it seemed too much - so I just kept it simple. The buttons are from my button stash - and the little butterfly is from my Creative Memories meadow makers punch.

I had a lot of fun doing this card - and a lot of fun drawing - I haven't done that it a while and it was fun to do a little doodle :)

Hope you guys are having a fabulous day!!! I am off to run a whirlwind of errands with 2 kids! Wish me luck!!!

Thank you for coming over for a visit!
Best wishes,
Sankari :)

Paper Craft Planet Sketch Challenge!

Hi Everyone,

You might have heard that Pluto is not considered a planet anymore (what's up with that??!!) But don't worry - there is a new Planet in town that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better: it is called Paper Craft Planet and it is the creation of Susanna Boyd of Card of the Week. Susanna does such an amazing service to the paper crafting community in her site Card of the Week - because she goes through hundreds of blogs and even more posts and puts it all together in her site - its is such a great way to see what amazing things people have made and are up to.

In that same way, Paper Craft Planet takes this to a whole new interactive networking level and is an online community for papercrafters that is filled with familiar faces, a chance to meet new friends and is an amazing new way to draw inspiration from each other, share photos, videos tutorials to all things paper crafted.

In one week, the number of people who have joined has jumped from 500 members to 2500!!!! There are numerous Stamp Companies that have created groups and are doing fun give aways and challenges - You have to check it out and it is so easy to join and get started in the fun - click here to get started (if you haven't already) !!!

This week, Susanna is hosting a sketch challenge - (below is
her fun sketch). Sakura is offering a prize for two lucky winners - all you have to do is to create something crafty with this sketch that expresses the theme of thanks or gratitude and then go over to Paper Craft Planet and link it up to the sketch (use the keyword: Sk110808 when you upload so that everyone can see your work in the gallery!) When you are done also leave Susanna a link to your creation on her blog and you are automatically entered to win another prize from Sakura!

I made two cards for this challenge.

The first draws its color inspiration from the lovely ladies at the Color Throwdown.
This week's colors were Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Pale Plum.
The center flowers are from Handmade Heart (felt flowers) and are layered on a scallop punch and a 2"punch on dimensionals. The lavendar buttons race to outerskirts of the circle, which are followed by an outline of liquid pearl dots.

The ribbon is from Offray, the cardstock from the Paper Company. The bottom edge is corner rounded as are the dies of the images. I threaded a ribbon through the center and added a little chocolate button. The little thank you tag was hand written and was punched out from a Fiskars Tag punch and then adhered onto the cardstock.

The second card draws inspiration from the lovely ladies at the OCC (Our Creative Corner) - where the challenge this week was to draw inspiration from a holly inspired Martha stewart cupcake. Well, I just can't pass up a cupcake challenge - and Taylor is the guest designer, so I had to play! The card for this week's challenge uses her new stamps from the Stamp a Sweet Impression line (this reindeer cupcake is from the Home Sweet Home set).

paper pieced the reindeer and put a little red sequin as the cherry/nose and red stickles for the glow lines. The Icut ovet the larger circles with CM cutting system. The papers are from the Paper Company and DCWV. I added some cotton uff dots as snow, embossed the sentiment Let it Snow in white RP and then added some white liquid pearl dots to one side of the cirlce. The scalloped edge of the circle is from a mini scalloped punch from Martha. The center circle is raised up on dimensionals and for a little touch, I added an ornament to the sweet little reindeer's nose.

These cards were so much fun to make - I really enjoyed the process :) Can't wait to see all the fun creations that everyone has made - don't forget to check out Paper Craft Planet - and also stop by see what our pick is for the Cinema Challenge Creative Challenge for this week.

Thanks for coming to visit!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge # 4 - Grease!

Good Afternoon Everyone,

This week has been so very interesting... just when our daughter was getting better - our son got a sudden high fever and after taking him to the hospital yesterday then waiting to do lab work... we were told that he has strep! The last 2 nights I have been up with him till about 3am - so regardless to say... there was no cardmaking going on... I was able to finish my card for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge this morning, while my DH took care of the kids and breakfast and got our daughter to nap. He has been very sweet about giving me some craft therapy time and so I dedicated this card to him!

The Cinema pick that we choose for this week is the movie GREASE! I was so excited to make a card from this movie and have really enjoyed listening to the songs again and singing along... my husband and I used to karoke to the song "Summer Lovin" and it was fun to get up and sing and entertain the kids with my really bad lip synching abilities... they were kind of speechless (I would like to think it was because I was that good - but I think it was because they just didn't quite know what was suddenly up with mommy :) LOL!

The inspiration for my Cinema Saturday card came from the beginning of the movie where the intro is done cartoon style - it is just so fun and I love the song: "Grease is the Word" by Franki Valli (you can see the intro here) and wanted to make my card kind of cartoonish. I made my card using Taylor's Friday Cupcake challenge #40 and used one of the brand new cupcake stamps that she just released for this card - the reindeer cupcake. I masked the reindeer's face and horns and stamped the image twice and paper pieced the cupcake. I "painted" their hair to be like Sandy and Danny from the movie.

I was totally cracking up while making these images of  an Olivia Newton John cupcake and a John Travolta cupcake. The car was hand drawn to be like the Grease Lightning car and then embossed with red EP - (very glittery IRL) and then I painted some yellow flames. The wheels were punched out and then buttons were adhered for the hubcaps. The sky was painted and then I added some clouds that I embossed with a bridal EP. The sentiment was written in swing script on the computer and reads: "You're the one that I want!" from the song by the same title towards the end of the movie.

I had a lot of fun using this stamp (check out Taylor's new set of stamps here) and can't wait to ink up the rest! And also it was so much fun to make a card inspired by the movie Grease for the Cinema Saturday challenge. And one of the best parts was to make a card for my DH, who also loves this movie (or specifically Olivia Newton John ;). I still have all the songs going through my head and have been humming them doing the dishes, the laundry, the cooking etc. - makes everything more fun :)

I hope you have a chance to try out the movie inspiration for this week over at our Cinema Saturday blog (every week we pick a movie from which to draw inspiration - it can be from the dialogue, the characters, the costumes, the movie jacket, anything really - and you can create anything from this movie: card, layout, altered project, etc!).

Thanks so much for coming over for a visit!
Hope all of you are happy and healthy!!
Best wishes,
Sankari :)

Pease not Please :)

Good Morning Everyone,

Taylor had a really fun sketch for her Friday Cupcake Challenge - it was to make a project using this layout to find out what your stamps are really saying! I had so much fun with this challenge and came up with a  fun birthday card for my son's friend.

My daughter who is one and a half is saying the cutest things and one of the sweetest things at this age is how they say please - there is no "L" sound and it becomes the cutest little word: pease.... So now everyone in the house has adopted this new way of saying please - we all just say pease....

I love this little baby girl sitting in her high chair with a messy mouth - reminds me of my daughter - although, my daughter's hair, the floor, the table and the walls would all have food on it - not just her face :) This image is from Inkadinkado and the cupcake image that I popped up with dimensionals is from Hero Arts. The thought bubble and dots are all popped up also and there is liquid pearl (of course :) to the cupcake and to
her mouth :) The sentiment was created on the computer and then cut out and the bite marks on the cupcake were cut out as well.

I loved going though my stamps and seeing what fun things they could be saying - and can't wait to make some more cards with this challenge's idea!

Hope your Monday is going off to a great start! Don't forget to check out the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge blog (click here) and check out the creations for this week's movie pick: Breakfast at Tiffany's. You can still link your creation to our challenge by Thursday 9pm PST.

Well, I am off to make some breakfast!
Thanks for visiting!

Ciao for now,

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #37 - 2 Cards

Good Monday Morning Everyone,

It's been a crazy busy weekend full of birthday parties and celebrations  and laundry and cleaning up. And I am so happy that we launched our new challenge site called Cinema Saturday (click here) where we make cards inspired by movies :) it has been so much fun to see everyone's creations!
And one of the nicest parts of my weekend was to have some time alone to play with Taylor's fun sketch for this week's Taylored Expressions Friday Cupcake Challenge! I actually made two cards for this challenge... I started out with one.. but had so much fun - that I couldn't stop at one!
I had all these ideas when I saw Taylor's sketch - but the one that really popped into my head was of a scene inspired by the blog header of "Paperlicious . (so Joan, I dedicate this card to you - and thank you for inspiring this card - it is so much fun to read your blog!) It was so pretty and somehow with all the circles - this sketch kinda reminded me of rolling hills and a little tree.
The bigger cicles were cut with my CM circle cutting system and the small circles were punched out. The paper is from my scrap basket - I think I have to made up a new rule: which is that I have to use a scrap piece of paper in every blog post - that is the only way to bring down this mountain of scraps....
The thank you sentiment was a sticker from Crft Essentials,  the ribbon and bow were from American Craft. I punched out the moon with my cicle cutters and then painted some flowers and dots and added some dimension by cutting the paper to look like grass. I totally enjoyed making this card - had so much fun!!

I realized that I had not made any cupcakes in my card for the challenge - and while that is not a requirement - why not use them, if you have them?! So I made a second card using Taylor's sketch using the Hero Arts stamps that my MIL just sent me - how sweet is she!!!!
I used the same green paper - and added the other two papers from my scrap pile (it is still a mountain but at least it has three less pieces in it :). I paper pieced the cupcake bottoms onto the image. I first used some liquid applique to create a fuzzy cupcake and then painted over it for some texture with the white and pink paint. I added some bling and then popped everything up on dimensionals.
It was so nice to craft last night while watching Lipstick Jungle on Hulu. It's amazing how happy you can feel after a little card making :)
Hope all of you are enjoying your Monday!
Thank you so much for coming over for a visit!
If you have a chance, check out our new challenge site Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge and join in the fun!

Ciao for now !!!

Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge #25 - Celebrate!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I can't even believe how quickly this week has flown by - and I haven't done any crafting or anything this week - whaaat is goin' on?? well, nothing like a Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge to fix that! I was going to do it this morning - but my friend called to remind me that today was Bike Fest at my son's school (where the ride their bikes and trikes to help raise money per mile)... so I put away any craft stuff and instead packed our bikes and trikes and helmets and water and snacks and treats in my magical diaper bag and headed off... I have to say that my son loved ever second of biking -he did a great job and even my little girl (who is one and half did a few laps on her push trike... sooo cute...)
Anyhoo... I quickly made this card so that I could take a pic in the last rays of the sun... I am so glad that the weekend has officially begun.
Here is my little card of a silhouette lady holding a cupcake (of course there has to be cupcake ... right?) I painted the sentiment "Celebrate" and then glazed it. This is an early birthday card  for our friend Julie whose b-day is coming up in a few days and owns the yummiest store in town and has the sweetest heart and smile! Happy Bday Julie!

Also in exciting news - our new challenge site: Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge premiers tomorrow - click HERE for all the fun details!! Hope you all come and play along with us!!!

Thanks for coming for a visit!
Sending you all sunshine,

Taylor's Cupcake Challenge #31 (Miss you Cupcakes!)

Hello Everyone,

Happy Labor Day - hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Things here have been more than busy - I can't believe that its been so long since I have made a card - I feel like I am in card withdrawal .... so it was so nice to do Taylor's Cupcake Challenge.  On the left is Taylor's fun sketch for this week! I love all of her fun sketches and especially the fact that we are encouraged to use cupcakes - who doesn't love that!!!
I started making a completely different card - but then after about an hour - it just wasn't working - have you ever had that experience....  aarrgH!...  so after a while - I just gave up and started from scratch.
I created the tree background in Photoshop and then after printing it out, I drew little cupcakes that I cut, colored and adhered to the tree - as if the tree had  little cupcake flowers.

(sidenote: Wouldn't that be great if there was a cupcake tree that grew in your back yard! Then, if your child told you at the last minute that the bake sale was tomorrow - you could just run out to the back yard and pick a few from your backyard cupcake tree! mmmm... cupcake tree!)
That was a yummy digression..  :) the rest of the card was pretty straightforward to put together... I cut the ribbon slit a little bigger so that I could run two ribbons through and then run another one on the side to tie a little bow... The ovals were cut with my CM cutters and centered onto the cupcake tree panel. I painted the cupcakes with a little pink paint and added some pink dots to the ovals and wrote the sentiment: Miss You Cupcakes!"  in the honor of my friend who I totally miss and who is as sweet as cupcakes :)

Well, hope all of you get to enjoy some cupcakes soon! (Even the word cupcake is fun to say!)
This is my birthday week! There I said it!! So I am turning 29 again :) LOL! I am so excited !!! Will have to post some pics! Wishing all of you a happy Sept!!!!
Thanks for visiting!

Ciao for now,
Sankari  :)

Got Cake Birthday Card

Hello Everyone,

We are back from our summer travels and are all a little exhausted but happy to be home. I have to say that I am really impressed with how well the kids did in the van with all the driving - I think we clocked over 50 hours in the van driving on our road trips this summer - and with two little ones - that is not that easy - but they did great!

On a side note - are you all as shocked as I am to walk into a store and see all the Halloween stuff???! I don't think I am ready for that at all - it still feels like summer to me..... :)

Anyhooooooo - here is a little card that I made for my MIL that I didn't post before we left - its a fun card made with Clear stamps and left over scraps.... I really love this little guy holding his cupcake. The only fun little thing is that the little cherry is a red brad. Well, I can't wait to get crafting - but I still have to unpack all of our stuff... but hopefully today my fingers will get a little inky :)

Hope all of you are enjoying these last days of the summer holidays and also enjoying all this lovely sunshine.
Thanks for coming over for to visit - come back soon :)
Ciao for now,
Sankari

2 Cards for Taylor's Sketch Challenge

Hello All,
Two posts in one day!!! Three cards in one day!! Woo-hoo!  These two cards are made fromTaylor's Cupcake Challenge Sketch. I really loved this sketch - so I had to make two cards. They were both so much fun to make. Since we are leaving tomorrow to go to Minneapolis for a week - I wanted to get these cards made. The birthday card is for my cousin, whose birthday was last weekend (sorry Padmini :) but I am sending it today!!) and the Season's Greetings card is for the challenge from the amazing ladies at the OCC, whose challenge this week was to make a Christmas in July Card.
The holiday card was made with cardstock with unknown origins - it has been in my scrap pile forevah... the buttons are from my button stash - they have been sliver stickled :) and the sentiment is a rub on from I don't know where (these were bought pre-bloggin days when I didn't keep track of where things came from). I added the textured dots by painting them in and finished it all off with some Crystal Stickles.

The birthday card has the same situation where I don't know where anything comes from - except that the brads are from American craft (i love that the cherries are brads) and dots behind the cupcakes are crystal stickles. The cupcakes and sentiment are from Clear Stamps (?) and they were stamped three times onto white cardstock, colored, cut and stacked ontop of each other. The gold dots were painted on as an afterthought - I tried to keep this card dot free - but I couldn't help it - I think I have become a dot addict... help!!! :) LOL! Well, what can I say - I love Faith's cards - and suddenly I feel like its not complete with dots :)

Okay - we are now off to the post office and the park and where ever else the road may take us - perhaps for a little Radiance dairy ice-cream!!! YUM!

Thanks for coming over to visit!
Ciao for now,
Sankari

PS - Oh my gosh! I just noticed that these cards are ribbon-less!!! Gasp!! How could I have let something like that happen :) !!!!
