Today we are having a totally fun Verve Diva Inspiration hop with some special guests joining in and you don't want to miss all the fun creations that everyone has made today! If you are coming here from Julee's amazingly gorgeous blog you are at the right place! I had so much fun making this birthday card using the sweet stamp set: Birthday Bash from Verve Stamps:

Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa and Tuxedo Black ink
Accessories: EK success border punch, corner chomper, heart punch, cropadile, circle nestabilties, silk ribbon from May Arts, twine and dimensionals.

I created a frame for the birthday cake in this set that I first paper pieced and then covered with glitter sprinkles. I added a little border punch bottom half and then cut out a banner from the Love Me DP from MME and then added the sentiments from pieces of twine that was wrapped around a silk ribbon. Gina K Previews and Blog Hop!

Good Evening Everyone!

Have you been seeing all of the gorgeousness that Gina K has for your stamping pleasure for February!! I have been just in awe of all the beauties that have been created and am so excited to be part of tonight's previews where two new stamp sets are going to be previewed - the gorgeous Spring Florals stamp set and the adorable Dream Birds stamp set! These two stamp sets, along with the rest of the stamp sets will be available for purchase at the Gina K store on Thursday night (Feb 11) after the release party!

For a limited time, a free Card Kit will automatically be included with each purchase of the Spring Florals stamp set which is illustrated by Gina K. The entire kit includes the stamp set, a binder sheet, the instructions and materials to make 3 complete cards for $19.95. For more details on the card kit, please make sure to visit Jessica Fick's blog! I loved stamping these gorgeous flowers - and created this birthday card from this set:
Card Ingredients:
Paper: Cosmo Cricket and Deep blush Prism paper
Stamps: Spring Florals by Gina K
Ink: Memento Ladybug Red
Accessories: SU! scallop and circle punch, EK succes punch, Kaiser bling, sponger, corner rounder, copics, white gel pen, fiskar's square scalloped punch, kaiser pearls, dragonfly hardware, ribbon from Gina K (pure luxuary gold-lined ribbon)

The second card uses the Dream Birds stamp set illustrated by Aslea Hopkins - these birdies are BEYOND cute and the sentiments are so inspiring! I loved this sentiment especially: "Don't lose hope, when the sun goes down, the stars come out" - how true that sentiment is! To create a night time feel, I stamped this on a gray piece of paper and then colored the tree branch and the leaves with my Sakura metallic gel pens and then colored and cut out the sweet birdie, the stars and the flowers:
Card Ingredients:
Paper: Black and gray construction paper and grass from K&Co.
Stamps: Dream Birds stamp set by Aslea Hopkins
Ink: Memento Tuxedo black
Accessories: corner chomper, white gel pen, yellow stickles, green glimmer ribbon

You might have already heard of the Hope is Faith stamp set that Gina has created to help Haiti - this is a beautiful mini stamp set will retail for $9.95 and was created to raise money for the Red Cross to help with the devastation in Haiti. $2.00 of every purchase of this stamp set will be sent directly to the Red Cross throughout the month of February. This is such a wonderful way to help out and support the Red Cross in all of their efforts to bring relief. This butterfly in this stamp set is in one word: gorgeous! I love how easy it is to use - just stamp it directly and color or you can paper piece it and cut it out - either way - it creates a gorgeous butterfly! I paper pieced it with MME's papers in this card:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: MME and black bazzil papers
Stamps: Hope is Faith from Gina K
Ink: Memento Tuxedo black
Accessories: white gel pen, may arts ribbon, black spica glitter pen, W/S black pearls, circle punch and black glaze pen from Sakura and dimensionals.

I loved working with these gorgeous stamp sets! Please be sure to check out the amazing creations that each of these designers, illustrators and beautiful ladies have created:

Aslea Hopkins: Dream Birds Illustrator
Gina K: Spring Florals Illustrator

Thank you so much for stopping by! To all my East Coast friends and family - stay warm! Hope you have lots of hot cocoa and marshmellows to melt away the winter blues!

Well, I am off to get my son ready for preschool - after school this afternoon he is having his first tennis lesson - that should be fun - I will have to take some pics so I can scrapbook them someday... like when he is all grown up :)

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #32

Good Morning Everyone,

Do I smell cupcakes baking???
Is it Friday?!!!

YES and YESSS!!!!

Because its the most wonderful day of the week: It's time for Taylor's Friday Cupcake Challenge and this week is awesome becauseTaylor just announced that she is releasing a new line of stamps called: Stamp a Sweet Impression and let me tell you, from the tempting sneak peeks that I have seen - they are SO awesome and beyond cute!!!  You will have to go check out both her stamps and her awesome storage system that will available starting at midnight (EST) on the 5th.

Well, I was already looking forward to this week because it was my birthday (and while I am excited about everyone else's birthdays, this was the first time in a long while that I have been excited about my own). To even make it more exciting, Taylor picked me to be the Featured Cupcake Sampler this week!

Woo-hoo! I was so honored and excited and surprised! THANK YOU TAYLOR!!The best part is that I got to participate in the new release of her sweet stamps. As soon as I saw this stamp, I was in love!! and couldn't wait to make a card for this week's sketch - which is awesome!
I love the half-circles in the sketch and  the sentiment that immediately popped into mind was: Wish Big! So this is what I came up with:
I love this little guy blowing out his cake!!! I colored this set with my Prism pencils and then covered it with liquid glaze. The little cherry on the cupcake is a red brad, there are yellow brads on the cake and teal star brads on the corners. The sentiment was made in Photoshop and then cut out with My Creative Memories Circle cutters. I outlined around the circles in both little droplets of teal paint and red candy cane
stickles. I wanted a big bow for the Wish Big sentiment and I love that you can see the fun cardstock through the ribbon. This card was beyond fun to make!

Well, you know what they say ... time flies when you are having fun... I couldn't stop after making this card - so I made another one with Taylor's sketch (I couldn't get this sketch out of my mind because the half circles reminded me of cupcake tops - seriously - all I see these days are cupcakes! :)
So I thought I would make another simple card with two cupcakes next to each other:
I used my new Stampin UP! scallop punch (courtesy of my awesome buddy Brooke!) and punched out some aqua cardstock and folded it in half and adhered them together to create the tops. For the cupcake bottoms, I went to the pantry and got 2 baking cups that I folded and wrapped and adhered them side by side.
The little "cherry" is a button with red thread and little burgandy paint droplets on the edges. The edges of the cupcake tops are lined with waterfall stickles and the edges of the pink cardstock are edged with Martha's metallic ink. I wrote the sentiment (happy b-day dear you) around cupcakes in a brown archival pen from CM. This card was so much fun to make too - and very simple :) But then again, how can things not be fun when you are working with cupcakes :)

I love Cupcake Land :)

Thanks everyone for coming over for a visit!
Have a fabulous weekend and hope you give Taylor's fun sketch a try!

Best wishes,
Sankari :)

EDIT: just realized that the OCC theme for this week is birthday - so I am so excited that I can offer these cards for the challenge :)

Jen's Sketch for You to Try & Color Challenge from the Verve Divas

Hi Everyone,

Here is a card made for Jen's Sketch for You to Try.  What a great sketch and boy can I use some sketch ideas - for all the birthdays this week. I feel like everyone's birthday is rolled into this week along with school starting and a million other things that have to get done before the week is through... phew! I am just tired thinking about all that :)
So, I think that is why it was fun to sit down and take a breather and make this card. It was also made for a color challenge from Charmaine from Meet the Verve Divas Challenge - the challenge is to make a card black and white card with a splash of color.

I love a black and white card - with a splash of ANY color - so it was hard to choose - but I went with a violet color. I love how this came together - and I played around for a while trying different flowers and other embellishments in the top right corner  - but it felt too busy next to the sentiment so eventually, I decided on a bow - but kept it kinda centered on the right side. I have to say that I love this stamp set from TCP - it is just so much fun to stamp and to color!

So let's see... 3 birthday cards down... only 3 more to go and 2 anniversary ones too... but from the looks of it now - they might just be getting a happy anniversary phone call (LOL!) ....

So preschool starts tomorrow and then on Friday is our turn to bring snack (how quickly it all begins!) I am thinking muffins and popcorn - any suggestions?

Hope all of you are well - and are enjoying the thought of the upcoming weekend is that looming on the horizon! Speaking of which I be off to clean all the bits of lunch that are looming on the floor (can you really use looming in that context... well, regardless - I still need to go and clean it :)

Thank you for visiting!
Ciao for now,
Sankari

Have A Delicious Birthday! Card

Hi everyone,
Good Sunday morning!

I feel like its been a whirlwind of a few days so far - lots of birthdays and birthday cake and wrapping presents and general craziness.... but fun. And in the lieu of fun - I had so much fun making this card - that I was cracking up while making it :)

I think I just made my favorite card! This was made for Taylor's Friday Cupcake challenge. I love her challenges - and I have missed participating in them when we were on vacation. When I first saw this card challenge - I said "Woo-hoo!" Why you ask? Well, I love cupcakes and cutting circles - so what could be better than a card challenge with cupcakes and circles??!!! Not much!!!  (how many "C's" were in that last sentence ?!? LOL!)  Her awesome sketch challenge (to the left) this week incorporated a lot of circles - 9 to be exact!.... and what popped in my mind was to do an action sequence where a cupcake was being eaten.

So I pulled out my stamps and found the cute little cupcake stamp with the cherry that would fit into my 2 inch circle. And then I stamped, masked, aligned with my Stampamajig and stamped and masked again. I took my black pen and then created "bites" in the cupcake and crumbs on the table and created a table by drawing a straight line with my ruler on all the circles at one time.

The last circle is my favorite. I think I am going to name this little guy Harold because he looks a lot like my son's teddy bear named Harold. So out came Harold and masked parts of the stamp so that it was just him in the last piece. I then paper pieced Harold and covered him with stickles and painted his eyes white. The ribbon was inserted at two slits on either side of the card and finished with a bow. The sentiment was created in Word,  to read "Have a Delicious Birthday."

This card totally makes me smile :) I was debating trying to draw Harold eating the cupcake in each circle and drawing that out - but then felt it was easier and simpler just to suggest the bites.

I love the brown and turquoise and pink together. It was a total fun card to make and I think my favorite card so far.

I loved drawing the little crumbs and afterwards I went over it with a little pink color pencil and a little bit of stickles.

Its hard to see from the pic - but I love little Harold with his glitter glam and sweet smile after eating the cupcakes.... He is just the cutest... I think the hardest part of making this card was all the masking and use of the Stampamajig... but it was such a fun process and I enjoyed it so much. I suddenly had all these ideas for other cards using this sketch its just a matter for finding enough time in the day to get everything done.... I wish there were 8 days in a week and in between Sunday and Monday could be Stampday.

Anyhoo - all this talk of cupcakes has gotten me hankering to fix some cupcake yumminess for Sunday brunch.

So off I go to raid the pantry!
Hope all of you are enjoying a super fabulous  Sunday!
Thanks for coming over to visit!
Ciao for now,
Sankari

Got Cake Birthday Card

Hello Everyone,

We are back from our summer travels and are all a little exhausted but happy to be home. I have to say that I am really impressed with how well the kids did in the van with all the driving - I think we clocked over 50 hours in the van driving on our road trips this summer - and with two little ones - that is not that easy - but they did great!

On a side note - are you all as shocked as I am to walk into a store and see all the Halloween stuff???! I don't think I am ready for that at all - it still feels like summer to me..... :)

Anyhooooooo - here is a little card that I made for my MIL that I didn't post before we left - its a fun card made with Clear stamps and left over scraps.... I really love this little guy holding his cupcake. The only fun little thing is that the little cherry is a red brad. Well, I can't wait to get crafting - but I still have to unpack all of our stuff... but hopefully today my fingers will get a little inky :)

Hope all of you are enjoying these last days of the summer holidays and also enjoying all this lovely sunshine.
Thanks for coming over for to visit - come back soon :)
Ciao for now,
Sankari

2 Cards for Taylor's Sketch Challenge

Hello All,
Two posts in one day!!! Three cards in one day!! Woo-hoo!  These two cards are made fromTaylor's Cupcake Challenge Sketch. I really loved this sketch - so I had to make two cards. They were both so much fun to make. Since we are leaving tomorrow to go to Minneapolis for a week - I wanted to get these cards made. The birthday card is for my cousin, whose birthday was last weekend (sorry Padmini :) but I am sending it today!!) and the Season's Greetings card is for the challenge from the amazing ladies at the OCC, whose challenge this week was to make a Christmas in July Card.
The holiday card was made with cardstock with unknown origins - it has been in my scrap pile forevah... the buttons are from my button stash - they have been sliver stickled :) and the sentiment is a rub on from I don't know where (these were bought pre-bloggin days when I didn't keep track of where things came from). I added the textured dots by painting them in and finished it all off with some Crystal Stickles.

The birthday card has the same situation where I don't know where anything comes from - except that the brads are from American craft (i love that the cherries are brads) and dots behind the cupcakes are crystal stickles. The cupcakes and sentiment are from Clear Stamps (?) and they were stamped three times onto white cardstock, colored, cut and stacked ontop of each other. The gold dots were painted on as an afterthought - I tried to keep this card dot free - but I couldn't help it - I think I have become a dot addict... help!!! :) LOL! Well, what can I say - I love Faith's cards - and suddenly I feel like its not complete with dots :)

Okay - we are now off to the post office and the park and where ever else the road may take us - perhaps for a little Radiance dairy ice-cream!!! YUM!

Thanks for coming over to visit!
Ciao for now,
Sankari

PS - Oh my gosh! I just noticed that these cards are ribbon-less!!! Gasp!! How could I have let something like that happen :) !!!!

Happy Birthday Julee (My Mojo Owl with a Color Challenge Oops!)

Good Morning Everyone,

I combined the Color Throwdown Challenge  for this week with Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch challenge (#47), but since I made this card in the wee hours of this morning - I don't think I saw the colors quite properly --- Oops! For the color Throwdown, we were supposed to use Ruby Red - but I ended up with something that looks like a soft pumpkin color - but totally looked like it matched the color swatch in the wee morning hours. I think I must get a better desk lamp  - I can't believe I made such a color faux pas .... aww shucks! I didn't realize my mistake until ---- oh about 3 minutes ago when I was uploading the swatch for the colors this week.... well.... what can you do?

Anyhoo - I would like to dedicate this birthday card to the amazing Ms. Julee Tilman of Poetic Artistry , who every week supplies us with Mojo-licious Sketch Challenges. Since yesterday was her birthday - I decided to use the Sketch challenge from last Monday for her birthday card - using the colors from the Throwdown this week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULEE!!! hope you had a great day!

The sentiment and this little cute owl is from Clear Stamps and she (I am officially calling her Julee :) was stamped with Martha's brown ink onto the owl cut by my CM oval cutters - I used Martha's scalloped circle punch  for the scallops around the owl and finished her off with some cinnamon and platinum stickles. The ribbon is from a gift my friend gave me (i love saving ribbons) and everything was rounded with my corner cutter.

I really loved making this card and this little owl is just the cutest.... I am loving all the rounded corners in this little card and can't wait till monday for the next sketch from Julee and wednesday to see the colors that the girls are going to be throwing down.

Don't you just love the term Color Throwdown - everytime I write it, in my mind I hear the word throwdown on loudspeakers. It's just a fun word. And when you have a fun word with making cards -then you automatically have fun-ness sprinkled into your life.... hmmm there I go making up words again.... it might mean that I have been up just a wee bit early thanks to my two little wonder darlings.

Hope all of you are enjoying your Saturday!
Thank you for visiting,
Ciao for now,
Sankari

Color me Cupcakes! 2 challenges in one card

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all having a great Friday. Things here are good - but have been a little slow on the stamp front because our little one has been a little sick. But I think today he is a little bit better - so I had a little time to make a card (wow, how many times did I just use little?!)  I have been meaning to make a card with the sketch from Taylor's Cupcake Challenge since last Friday - but did not have a chance. And even though its very late, I thought I would still make it because it is such a fun sketch. I combined the sketch challenge with a color challenge from the ladies at The Cat's  Pajamas  TCP Tuesday challenge. The colors were pink, orange and chocolate :
my FAVORITE colors all together.... and those colors totally reminded me of cupcakes and cakes - so it seemed like a great mix to combine the color challenge with Taylor's Cupcake Challenge!
These colors are so much fun together - that I wanted to make a fun bright card, so I used the little critter image from Clear Stamps - isn't he so cute, holding a little cupcake in his hands :) I paper pieced him onto the orange and paper pieced the cupcake onto the pink cardstock and added stickles. I colored his eyes white and then added the black pupils. The circles were punched out and then cut in half and pasted with alternating colors. The ribbons are from Offray and the little Faith dots :) are done with some paint.

This was such a quick, fun and simple card to make - so that means, I am going to be using all these elements again! I think I am going to make a bunch of these cards for my MIL's birthday present.

But first, I must go and make breakfast :)
Thanks for coming over for a visit,
Ciao for now,
Sankari

KW Color Inspiration Challenge #17, OCC Faux Emboss Challenge

Hello Everyone,

It's time for another KW Color Inspiration Challenge and a technique challenge from the ladies at the OCC. When I saw the picture of that Kristina posted for the inspiration below - I had to get started right away. The colors to use were  Regal Rose, Rose Red, Sage Shadow and Whisper White. And from the ladies at the OCC (Our Creative Corner) the challenge was to dry emboss - but since I don't have the tools for that, I did the faux dry emboss.

When I saw the dress - I fell in love - I love that dress!!! -it has a simple elegance to it and touch of soft spring. I think my card has a lot of white in it because after the last post of bright cards - I think I needed to shift from the bright spectrum to something softer. As I mentioned in my last post, I need to make a slew of birthday cards - so thought this might a perfect one for a friend of mine whose birthday is coming up at the end of this month.

The layout for the card comes from Jen's sketch Inspiration that I made a card for (click here) and I really loved that layout - so I decided to use it again for this card. The dress is a stamp from My Sentiments Exactly (I folded the dress to mimic the pleats) and the ribbons are from Offray. The faux dry embossing was made using the smallest Fiskar circle punch on white cardstock and layering the background of the dress with it.

Alright, going to go make breakfast now (Waffles! here we come!!)
Hope all of you are having a beautiful day!

Thanks for stopping by!

Make A Wish Birthday Card

Hello Everyone,

What a great day today has been! We have had great weather today, I had a chance to pick up the house a little, my daughter had a playdate (she is one) and it was very sweet to see the little ones playing together and now both the kids are in bed - so that means I get to craft a little - woo-hoo! yay!!

Since today was a bright and sunny day - I was inspired to make a bright and sunny birthday card for my neighbor's daughter who is turning 5 on Saturday. I was inspired by the sketch at the awesome Mother's & Daughter's Creations Challenge Blog and had to try that sketch for this card.
I really liked that the pink part of the sketch was off center a bit. I wanted to make a fun card and so this is what I came up with.

The background DP is from DCWV. The stamped sentiments are from All Night Media and colored in by Prisma pencils, the ribbon from Offray and the brads are from American Crafts. Although you can't see it, I used some paper glaze on the cake stand and on the candles and lots of Crystal Stickles on the teal cake layer.

I think, I like making birthday cards best because they put me in the festive mood - and festivities means that there will be cake- and that is always awesome !

Hope all of you are doing well and are excited for all the promises that await you tomorrow!!!

Sunny Smiles :)
Sankari

PS - Thank You to all the awesome people who left comments today! That totally made my day! You guys all inspire me!

A Two in One! Cupcake Challenge & Verve Divas Challenge

Hello All,

Just wanted to post a card that I made for 2 challenges. One is for the Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge (#24), that is created by the awesome Taylor Vanbruggen. I have really enjoyed the cards that have been made for these challenges in the past and have always wanted to try, so tonight was the night. And the other is for the first Verve Divas Challenge, by the awesome Shannan Teubner.  I just discovered Verve, through doing the Mojo Monday challenges and can't wait to for some Verve stamps to Verve up my life!!

The challenge from Taylor was to create a card/layout etc. most closely resembling the following sketch:

And the Challenge from the Verve Divas Challenge was to incorporate the following colors in your card. Since I as of yet, still don't have any SU! papers, or Verve stamps (yet!) - I just went along with what I had.

So this is what I came up with. A simple birthday card, with a cute little cupcake from Jolee's Boutique. The stamped sentiment is from All Night Media and the ribbons are from Offray. I made the dots with my white craft pen from Martha Stewart Crafts and added a little Diamond stickles dots around cupcake layer. This is in tribute to Faith - whose dots leave me amazed and wanting more!

This was a great sketch - and a great color swatch - my favorite colors together with a yummy cupcake! Mmmmm!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Ciao for now,
Sankari
