2 Sketches 4 You - Groovey Owlies

Good Morning Everyone,

I can hardly believe its Thursday already - when did that happen? Yesterday has been filled with errands, dentists appts for little wee ones who won't sit still, doing laundry from camping (ugh!) and unpacking... (still not fully unpacked! - does it take you guys forever to unpack - it always seems to me that there are more clothes coming back then going... :). Even though we got home
Mon. night - I had to wait till Tuesday afternoon after work
to get our mail from our neighbor who has been holding it while we were gone and I was b-e-y-o-n-d pysched when I saw a big
package of yumminess from the wonderful ladies at 2 Sketches 4 You!   I let out a big Whoooooop!

Thank you so much Laura and Kazan and beautiful DT for the wonderful sketches and encouragement during the Ultimate Card Showdown - I am still in happy shock :)!!! It was such a total
blast!! I was so psyched to open my package - but I wanted to take a quick picture - so I ran home to get my camera and had my neighbor snap a quick pic - I was so excited that I opened it right at her house! - lol!!! She was cracking up at my shrieks of delight :) She told me I was speaking a different language when I was explaining to her what the different products were - lol!
I couldn't wait to make a card with the yummy goodies! And so here is a quick card I made using Laura's sketch 31 and I used the
yummy papers from Teresa Collins and cut out the little black swirlie patterns on the paper from the package to go on either side of the oval - I loved stamping and coloring these cutie pie owlies from Inky Antics - seriously there is just something about owls that is just so adorable. I popped the side swirlies on dimensionals and added a little bit of yellow bling on the sides. I loved making this little owlie card and can't wait to ink up the rest of the owlies - they are such a hoot! (sorry couldn't resist! ;) Here is my card for Laura's sweet sketch:

Card Details:
Ink: Stazon Black and Martha Brown
Stamps: Groovy Owls - Owl Trio from Inky Antics
Accessories: Martha punch, ribbon from Taylored Expressions, bling from K&Company, oval cutters from Creative Memories prisma color pencils,

2 Sketches 4 You - Top 20 - Round 3

Happy Friday Everyone :)

Before I get to my card - I just wanted to say a big thank you to Laura and Kazan and the wonderful judges and to all of you who left such sweet comments! Thank You So Much!!!! Thank you for allowing me to be part of the Top 20 in the Ultimate Card Showdown that Laura and Kazan are holding to celebrate their first blogaversary over at 2 Sketches 4 You! I am so honored to be part of this amazing event and to be surrounded with such talented artistes from around the world! A big Thank you to you all!!

This week Laura gave us a wonderful sketch - there were so many possibilites that I didn't know which way to go. I love how from one sketch there are endless possibilites for making cards :) I wanted to make a fun little scene and used the circle element as a little owl's home in a tree that could open and close (I have been watching the Adventures of Winne the Pooh with my 4 year old son :) .

The door on the little owl's house says: Knock Knock ....
and from the side:

The little knothole opens up to reveal a little owl-ie who is sitting on a sign that says: Whoo's there? :) I don't know what it is about little owls - but they are just so cute :)

and from the side:

Here is a close up picture of the outside of the knothole door and then it opens up to show the inside of the little owl-ie's nest:

I had so much fun making this! I drew out a tree and then tore some pieces of ribbon in strips to create a bark look. The knot hole was actually a ribbon spool that measures 1 3/4 inches and I took the top part off and put it into a hole that I punched with my 1 3/4 punch into the tree. I created a little “door” to the owls’ home and adhered it with some Tacky super glue on one side to the side of the kothole. Here is a closer look at it:

I was so excited when the ribbon spool that I had actually measured 1 3/4" the same as my punch! I added some green flower soft to the inside of my little owl's nest for a more nest-y-ish sort of look.

I decorated the inside of the card with the same theme of the sketch and left it blank inside so that it can be for any occaision :)

Card Details: Paper: K&Company (for the green and blue DP) and the rest from stash Ink: Chocolate Chip SU! and Martha Stewart brown, Stamps: Branching Out Accessories Accessories: flowers from the Mother’s Day KI, brads, ribbon spool for the knot hole, 1 3/4 circle punch SU!, 1 1/2 circle punch CM, 1 inch circle punch SM, Diamond Stickles, Flower Soft, white gel pen, corner rounder, dimensionals, button from stash.

I had alot of fun making this card - and I can't wait to see what wonderful creations have been created with this lovely sketch! A big thank you to Laura, Kazan and lovely judges and all of you and big hugs and thanks to all of my fellow showdown participants – it is a total honor to be with you!

I feel so blessed to be part of this global crafting family :)

Thank you for visiting my little corner :)

Big hugs!

Mini Bookcase with Drawers - project

Good Morning Everyone,

Have you checked out the Stamp a Sweet Impression Blog? This is a blog that showcases some of the amazing stamps and products at Taylored Expressions - its really amazing to see all the creations on this blog - as well as a place to find lots of tutorials on how to create something sweet - and recipes too for creating something sweet for your sweet tooth :) You can check out the blog and subscribe on the right hand side when you click here - so that you don't miss out on these great inspirations and ideas!

Today was my turn to contribute to the blog - so I create a little mini chest with drawers. Here is a mini sneak peek :)

I made this project with boxes and a mini drawer shelf for some projects that Paper Craft Planet was hosting. I got a few questions on what the dimensions were for the box holder - so I thought I would make a little tutorial on that...

Please check it out - its kind of my first tutorial (the kind with measurements and stuff :)

Thank you so much for coming over to visit today! This is the last day of march! Do you have any April Fool's tricks ready up your sleeve??  I am going to have to watch my toes around here tomorrow!!!

Have a wonderful day!
Sankari :)

KW Color Inspriation #47 - Happy Birthday Card (TECC 61)

Happy Friday Everyone,

Are you doing a little TGIF dance? Cause that's what we are doing over here! Look at these yummy colors that Kristina has picked out for her 47th Color Inspiration Challenge! Thispicture is from her friend Adrienne

The colors for this week are Chocolate Chip,Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Whisper
White. I love these colors together - they just feel so rich and yummy - how can it not be yummy with such titles like: chocolate chip, pumpkin pie and so saffron! I really enjoyed making this card it was a lot of fun.

I used Taylor's awesome sketch challenge from her Friday Cupcake Challenge  #61 for inspiration. I flipped the sketch 90 degrees counter clockwise. I also used her newest stamp release set Branching Out. I think this might be one of my fave sets - its just so versatile. I needed to make a Happy Birthday card for someone special.

I love the Basic Grey Ambrosia set of papers ... and used one of the DP to stamp the tree onto and then paper pieced little orange leaves onto the tree for a little contrast. I had fun putting buttons and also Taylor's Tiny Twinkles on the eyes of the owl and on the scalloped edge.

Here is a side ways view of the card:

Card Details:
Paper: Ambrosia (Basic Grey), Brown metallic cardstock, Orange carstock from trash
Ink: Pumpkin Pie from Stampin' Up!
Stamps: Taylored Expressions: Branching Out stamp set and Branching Out coordinate set
Accessories: Random ribbon, liquid perls, stickles, foam dimensionals, buttons from stas, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles n the scalloped edges and the little owl eyes, corner rounder

I hope you get a chance to play in both challenges! AND you can win a free set of Taylor's Tiny Twinkles - all you have to do is upload your card with Taylor's sketch to Paper Craft Planet with the keyword with the sketch name: TECC61 and your card could be chosen randomly to win these awesome tiny little blingy blings!!!

Thanks so much for visiting my little corner!!!
Hope all of you are having a wonderful Friday and are doing the Friday happy dance!
Ciao for now,
Sankari :)

Happy Birthday Julee (My Mojo Owl with a Color Challenge Oops!)

Good Morning Everyone,

I combined the Color Throwdown Challenge  for this week with Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch challenge (#47), but since I made this card in the wee hours of this morning - I don't think I saw the colors quite properly --- Oops! For the color Throwdown, we were supposed to use Ruby Red - but I ended up with something that looks like a soft pumpkin color - but totally looked like it matched the color swatch in the wee morning hours. I think I must get a better desk lamp  - I can't believe I made such a color faux pas .... aww shucks! I didn't realize my mistake until ---- oh about 3 minutes ago when I was uploading the swatch for the colors this week.... well.... what can you do?

Anyhoo - I would like to dedicate this birthday card to the amazing Ms. Julee Tilman of Poetic Artistry , who every week supplies us with Mojo-licious Sketch Challenges. Since yesterday was her birthday - I decided to use the Sketch challenge from last Monday for her birthday card - using the colors from the Throwdown this week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULEE!!! hope you had a great day!

The sentiment and this little cute owl is from Clear Stamps and she (I am officially calling her Julee :) was stamped with Martha's brown ink onto the owl cut by my CM oval cutters - I used Martha's scalloped circle punch  for the scallops around the owl and finished her off with some cinnamon and platinum stickles. The ribbon is from a gift my friend gave me (i love saving ribbons) and everything was rounded with my corner cutter.

I really loved making this card and this little owl is just the cutest.... I am loving all the rounded corners in this little card and can't wait till monday for the next sketch from Julee and wednesday to see the colors that the girls are going to be throwing down.

Don't you just love the term Color Throwdown - everytime I write it, in my mind I hear the word throwdown on loudspeakers. It's just a fun word. And when you have a fun word with making cards -then you automatically have fun-ness sprinkled into your life.... hmmm there I go making up words again.... it might mean that I have been up just a wee bit early thanks to my two little wonder darlings.

Hope all of you are enjoying your Saturday!
Thank you for visiting,
Ciao for now,
Sankari

Graduation - Congratulations Card

Hello Everyone,

Two cards in one day! What!!! 2 posts in one day!! Que Pasa??!! I know, I know - its been that kinda of a day - trying to do too much... it feels like there has been 32 hours in this day... ever feel like that?  usually it feels the other way around - anyhow....
This is a graduation card made for the high school graduation of our family friends daughter -- ok ok - she graduated like.... 4 weeks ago - and I have been meaning to make a card (better late than never right?) and so I whipped this little number up,

while I was in my craft space gettin' busy with the KW Color Inspiration Challenge posted below. Since this card was for a young lady (this one's for you Lakshmi!) I decided to give the owl some eyeshadow and then put some Crystal Stickles on her eyes -- for that fierce look (LOL!)... and of course once you bring the Stickles out --- you just want to put them everywhere - so I put them on her wings... and had to then put the Stickles away in case I just went a little Stickle-crazy :)....  Hopefully, I can get this out in the mail ASAP  - that part is whole other kinda ballgame...  I am not sure what all the ingredients of the card are ... (i am typing downstairs and i feel too lazy to go upstairs.... the only thing i remember is that the sentiment Congratulations is from G studio... I know this because I have used it sooooo often in the last few cards.  I will have to update this with the card ingredients later...

Tomorrow is Friday!!! YAY! since we are on vacation that doesn't have the same kinda oomph - but its a great thing because my mother will be done with work and we can all be together in this last weekend of June! Can you believe that its almost July! I surely can't.... Anyhow...I will end with my late night ramblings and sign off for today :)

Hope all of you are well and happy!
Best wishes,
Sankari
