PATRIOTIC BANNER REVEAL!
Here it is, folks! All the pieces of the patriotic banner swap - all five of them, lol! They're all great, and unique, though!
First is Sarah's (Hope In Every Season):
Because there were a few extras she had sent along, and they were longer than the others, I made a banner by themselves for my living room window!
Next is Debby's of Cozy Blanket. I like the boldness of this design:
Then there's Pam's of Virginia Retro, all picnic-y and fireworky! Summer at it's best!
Here's mine. I couldn't decide between which girl image, so I used them both and made a two-sided piece.
The above ones I strung together and the banner is hanging on my hutch:
Lastly, we have Judy's of 20 North Ora. She stitched a wonderful fabric mini-banner!
Mine is hung in the kitchen window!
At first, I was disappointed that more women didn't join in, but I think I got the cream-of-the-crop here!
Everyone have a safe (especially East Coasters) and fun Fourth, remembering the freedom we fought for!

MOTHERS DAY
I hope all you mothers and daughters had a very nice Mothers Day today!
I planted a fairy garden, went grocery shopping, bought myself an outdoor umbrella and some potting soil.
My most-awesome neighbor gave me a cute little Boyd's Bears treasure box and I gave her some wildflowers from my yard.

REDNESDAY
Rednesday in Boston. Prayers for the injured and their families, and all those traumatized by the explosions at the Boston Marathon on Monday. I live ten minutes from the starting line, and I'm glad I didn't go into Boston for the finish! (45 minutes away) One of my cousins was at the finish line, but left before the explosions.
An ex-New England Patriot player (football), Joe Andruzzi, was there and helped with the injured. He was at the marathon to support a team that was running to raise money for his cancer charity.
Will Middlebrooks, of the Boston Red Sox (baseball) tweeted:
Yup! We've got Matt Damon, Ben and Casey Affleck, Mark Wahlburg, Chris Evans, Edward Norton, James Spader, Leonard Nimoy, Conan O'Brien, Kurt Russell, John Cena, Michael Chiklis, Misha Collins, and Denis Leary, to name some of the heavies born in our Bay State! Along with our superstar sports teams, they can ward off any more offenders!
That's all I'm going to say today.

REDNESDAY - LET'S BOOK IT!
Today I'm going to share some books that have red in them!
This first, We Like To Do Things, was an antique store find this past weekend. It's from 1949, doesn't have a back cover, and I paid $3.25 for it - way too much for its' condition, but the graphics are so awesome!
Hey, where are the child labor laws?
No child abuse here - just grandpa abuse!
Picking cherries? Sounds good to me!
I'm sure many of you are familiar with this darling book from 1945. A little bunny saw a cardinal and decided he wanted red wings, too. So he went to the wishing well, got his wings, and no one recognized him, even his mommy. So he had to go back and wish them away.
The next three books are family heirlooms. This first one is called Song and Study for God's Little Ones, copyright 1894.
It was my great grandmother's.
In this book, "Nearer My God to Thee" was called Bethany. "Come Thou Almighty King" is called Italian Hymn!
This book was my grandmother's.
It has no date, but I'm guessing early 20th century.
And, this one was my mother's.
Yes, her name was Agnes . . . and she had red hair!
Now, this adorable little book is from Made In Pixieland. And, guess what? It's not a book! It's a secret book.
I recently put a gnome and mushroom inside it!

HAPPY REDNESDAY!
Welcome back to Rednesday! Hope all you U.S.-ers had a great long weekend! I had a mild stomach bug last week, but am back to normal (whatever that is) now. I've been doing a "mulch marathon" this week. With my babysitting money, I've been buying a few bags each week. I'm up to 13 bags and will probably need 3 or 4 more - whew!
I noticed that Mister had a few dirty coffee mugs on the counter and thought they'd make a nice photo! The flag one is from a set of four Ralph Lauren I got at a yard sale last year.
This is one of the cubbyholes in the unit beside my computer. I got the beer glass at a thrift shop only because my Dad used to drink Black Label, and it's a nice memory. The cup is Adams of England called "The Season of Blossoms", a yard sale find. The game pieces are from a vintage Wide World Travel Game. After I loaded the photo here, Katherine (Teen) walked by and asked if I liked it. I said, yeah, it's got red in it. She giggled and said she had turned the yellow ship in the opposite direction on purpose! (There is no dust, there is no dust, there is no dust . . . )
A pile of baskets with the cherries box, and my canisters on the book shelf.
And, now for the patriotics that I didn't get to show last week. Mister's humongous 48-star flag:
A few shelves in the living room:
A close-up of the green dish and butter knife. I haven't looked up the maker of the green dish, but it probably had a lid - wish it was red or blue! The knife is a Wm. Rogers & Son that says "United States of America" with an eagle and shield. Wouldn't it be cool to have a whole set in this pattern?
And, that wraps it up for me! I hope to see lots of red vacation shots this summer!
