CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

I love my vintage Christmas decorations! Here are some of them displayed.

I moved my pretty white sideboard into the living room and brought the console table into the kitchen. I am so loving having the extra window "open". I only have four large windows and a french door in the kitchen so I have LOTS of light! So this table gets my egg nog set and extra egg nog mugs.

I like to line my kitchen window ledges (in the middle where the locks are) with my vintage tiny houses!

I love pulling out my vintage Christmas records each year! My favorite is the 78rpm of White Christmas.

A stack of vintage wrapping paper and greeting card boxes.

The hutch is all lined up with a variety of figurines:

SADLER, LEFTON, & LIMOGES

I have a collection of rose-patterned china and pottery pieces in my bedroom. No particular designs other than I just like roses! But I have noticed that I've acquired four pieces of Sadler (England) pottery with the same pattern on them. Here they are displayed on a bookcase that fits perfectly between the bathroom and closet doors ~

Interesting how the transfer is horizontal on the bell and ginger jar, but vertical on the vase and canister.

I haven't been able to track down the pattern name yet. If anyone knows about Sadler, please send info!

Hanging on the wall is a plate in a hammered aluminum frame. Some years back one of my best friends had this framed plate hanging over her kitchen fireplace in the Victorian manse she lived in. She has since moved out of state, but I so admired that plate! Two years ago I found one at our church's annual yard sale and, boy, was I excited!  I've seen them online selling for anywhere between $15 and $50, so was thrilled when I only had to pay $4 for it.

And, while I'm on the subject of the roses, I want to show you this cute little vintage ashtray set made by Lefton.

My mother-in-law picked it up at her senior center "store" (a shelf in a closet for second-hand items). I really should put it in the kitchen to use for teabags - they're the perfect size!

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Just sharing some of my decorations . . . :)

These vintage-look wreaths were picture frames from a discount store,
just popped out the middle!

 (that's a 78rpm record of White Christmas)

These mini S&P's with the carriages are new from the thrift shop this season!

I made this "elf crossing" sign for the little bridge that my neighbors
use to go to the bus stop at the bottom of my driveway!

REDNESDAY

I don't wanna make a Rednesday post! I just wanna play in the garden!

Hi everyone! I confess - it's true. The computer was the last thing on my mind today. With all the unseasonable weather we've been having this week, I truly want to just stay outdoors! But, alas, I can't. Someone's got to do the housework, and drive the kids to school (and watch t.v., lol!). But, I do have some nice indoor things to show you this week.

I have some pics of my bedroom closet, believe it or not. Not the whole closet, mind you, cuz it's a mess! We have a modest Cape Cod style "cottage" - 3 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths. But the interesting thing about the master bedroom is that it has this huge walk-in closet; and, I mean HUGE! Without taking the time to go upstairs and measure it, I'm guessing it's 8 ft. by 12 ft. - big enough to be a small bedroom.

Anyway, the wall that has my dresser against it is what I'm going to show you. Mister picked up this beautiful cabinet at a yard sale last year. I couldn't decide where to put it until a few months ago - I settled for above my dresser. I love it here! The doors are so pretty!

Open it up and there you will see my bird figurine collection. I just love the colors of the stained glass and birds in here. Especially since there are no windows.

Oh, surprise! There's Steve Irwin courting the lovely lady in yellow to the right. Haven't seen him in a long time!

Here's a close-up ~

And, here are some closer-uppers! ~

This is a wall pocket ~

This set-up brings a smile to my face every day; it's so cheerful!

REDNESDAY

I have a shelf above my computer that I painted white with red trim. Some of my "collectibles" are stored there ~

Mister picked up a computer desk some months ago and this little glass jar w/lid was in one of the drawers - so cute! It's just shy of 2" tall.
What? Do you think I wouldn't buy a Jessie Pez? LOL! The mushroom guy is a Steinbach; and the ceramic cottage is a measuring spoon holder sans spoons.
The oriental cat teapot wears my name bracelet that Jade and I made last year. The old red rabbit was purchased for 25 cents at a yard sale on Saturday. I've never seen a red rabbit, and . . . if you look close, there are yellow cherries painted on its' chest!! You know he was just waiting for me to buy him!

REDNESDAY

(well, almost on Wednesday!)

Hi everyone! Welcome to November's first Rednesday!

Here's a bunch of rose hips left on the bush in the backyard ~

I have, unintentionally, started a pin collection on my perpetual calendar. From left to right ~ a mushroom house from Made In Pixieland, a vintage New England Patriots pin that Mister found in the barn, a gorgeous rhinestone pin from a yard sale, World Vision's Step Into Africa, and All Things Bright and Beautiful from Sweet Things. They all have a touch of red in them, even the rhinestones if you look at them the right way!

Went to the post office thrift store today after voting. I was delighted to find some Christmas this-and-thats.

And not to be left out, a Transformers backpack for Teen! LOL! It even has blinking red lights on it. Too funny!

REDNESDAY - THE BOYS OF FALL

The above is Grant Wood's 1931 painting Plaid Sweater. “Plaid Sweater is a portrait of Mel Blumberg of Clinton, Iowa. According to Wood’s sister, Nan, he was to paint the boy, but did not want him to be wearing his ‘Sunday Best’ for the portrait. He was discussing the matter when the subject burst into the room wearing the plaid sweater and carrying a football. Grant Wood thought this was the perfect way to represent the football player; the portrait was not to be staged, and Wood shows the boy as a heroic archetype of the ‘All-American Boy.’ Wood portrays this youth as a healthy symbol of the future and a natural extension of his environment.”

Have you heard Kenny Chesney's new single called The Boys of Fall? Click on the photo of him below to link to YouTube ~

I'm glad my team's logo has red in it! We beat the Bengals this past Sunday (Sorry Ohio friends!).
Here's some of my plaid collection that I love to bring out every Fall! The bag on the left I'm assuming is a shoe bag, it's the right size; maybe a bowling shoe bag. EDIT: Melody of Brown Gingham Creations says it's a picnic bag that originally holds 2 thermoses and sandwich boxes, etc. ~ Thanks, Melody!

I just love this tote bag with its' leather handle. Wait 'til you see what's inside . . .

Java to go, anyone? A little coffee pot with unopened stir sticks, containers for sugar and cream, and two plastic coffee cups! (Of course, I can't understand why they're not red!) It would be great if it plugged into the car!

I'll leave you with some red-centered 'Jaguar' Marigolds, nestled in among Forget-Me-Nots and Candytuft!

Hey, let's put this baby up wicked early today!
