So, not to be deterred by my rust effect failure, I'm back at it today with some new test models.
By the way, if you haven't already, please check out my article on Blood of Kittens.
I normally work on at least two different minis at once, especially when I'm inking or overbrushing a model, simply so I'll have something to work on while I'm waiting for paint to dry.
Because nothing is worse than waiting for paint to dry.
I have a double-handfull of these secondary models laying around. Usually it's a test for some technique or scheme - something I don't care about or isn't for an army.
That's what the model to the left is.
Marines commonly favor bright, primary colored armor, so I thought...
...why not try a more muted, earthy tone? I obviously contrasted that with the bright green, but if I have a failure it's a tendency for my stuff to appear uni-tonal. I deliberately avoided that with this choice.
The base isn't done.
That bugs me. Also, my light studio still isn't set up. That bugs me too.
I'm using my Cybershot to take these pictures, and like I said I haven't resetup my light studio, so it's a point and click affair. Point is, these were the first two pictures. Not good. I got a decent one by pointing the camera away from the model, taking the picture with it very off-center, which I fixed during the crop and enhance.
That worked better than I had any reason to expect. Maybe it'll help some of you, I don't know... but I thought I'd mention it.
I'm out. Thoughts?

The light parts almost look yellow. Not sure if it is your camera or what. It will help to see some other colors as at this point it is hard to tell.
