Thanks so much

Hello Friends!

I have another Shadow Box Card to share with you today.

This was so easy and fun to make using the new
from The Stamps of Life.

This was a thank you card I made for someone who had us over for dinner a few weeks ago.

I used Houses4us and the matching dies.

I colored the image with Prisma pencils.

This cool card folds flat and fits in an A2 envelope for mailing.

There are more samples in the Gallery so be sure and stop by to check out the inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by!

Make it Winter

It has been close to 100 degrees all week where I live and I am ready for some cooler weather! I wish I had the ability to just "make it winter" and cool it down! I felt a little cooler while working on these snowy samples for you.

Today the newest Scene it release is coming out over at Cornish Heritage Farms and it's call Make it Winter.

The thought behind it was that it can be used along with some of the other Scene it sets to....yep-you guessed it....Make it Winter!

My first sample uses this new set along with The Ranch:

Don't you just feel cooler looking at it???

Here's another sample using Mountains and Make it Winter.

Sooo many possibilities. I am having a blast seeing how many ways I can combine this new set with the ones I all ready have.

If all the scene cards have inspired you to try to make a scene...don't forget that this weeks challenge over a CHF for the Summer Stamp Star Challenge is to make a scene. You have till Monday to enter your Scene card in the contest.

You could win $50 in free CHF stamps if you win this weeks contest. The gallery is filling up with lots of great cards. I can't wait to see yours!

To celebrate the start of the CHF Summer Stamp Star Design Challenge we thought it would fun to have a little blog hop to help inspire you for the challenges!

Challenge 4 is to Make a Scene: Take elements from one set or many and build a scene in any style from realistic to cute. (Gallery opens at 9 a.m. Monday July 20, 2009 and closes at 9 a.m. on Monday July 26, 2009)

Never made a scene?  Not sure where to start?  I made up a few samples to help get your creative mojo flowing...

This first one was made using Kim Hughes Bear Hugs set.  Many of Kim's sets would work great for this challenge.

I just love the fun whimsical look of this scene.

I finally cut out my newest GM set, The Beach for this next card.  This set is perfect for creating a scene or use any of the great GM vehicles to build a scene around.

My very favorite way to make a scene is with any of the Scene it sets.  Most of these sets come with a huge variety of images so that you can create many different scenes.

If you don't have any of the Scene it sets yet or you are new to scene stamping I would recommend the Beacon of Hope set to begin with.  It comes with three different light house images, sailboats, birds, and several great sentiments.  You will get tons of use out of this set and it makes it pretty easy to create a scene.
Here is a card that I made using this set.

Still need some inspiration to get started making a scene?  Go check out the CHF gallery.  Just put in the key word scene and search...there are tons of great samples!  Have fun playing.  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Now go check out the other blogs for some samples for the other challenges:

A drop in the Ocean

Just a quick post for today...trying to make up for being such a lamo blogger last week...

Here is a card that I made a while back that I never shared with you.

For this card I die cut the vellum-but my intent wasn't to hide my coloring like I wanted to do on yesterdays card...but to highlight the sentiment.  I just love that saying!

-By the Seashore (Scene It Line)

Paper:
-Baby Blue Dark and simply smooth white by Prism
-Vellum

Ink:
-Clearsnap Blue Lagoon fluid Chalk
-Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink by Tsukineko

-cuttlebug embossing folder

My week in Atlanta is half over!  Even though I am scheduling this post on Sunday before I leave...I can assure you that I can not wait to get back home on Friday!!  Hope your week is going well!

Nothing Ventured...Nothing Gained..

I don't think I have shared this card with you yet, though, it was on the CHF creative blog last week.  I am having so much fun practicing scenes.  This card uses several different stamps from CHF.

The Eagle is from the Saturday Evening Post line.  The mountains/trees are from the Mountains Set in the Scene it line, and the sentiment is from the newest Mona Lisa Moments set, Encouragement Expressions.
The clouds and water were all sponged in using Adirondack dye ink by Ranger.

It's the first time I've inked up the Eagle...but it won't be the last!

I am still in Atlanta...aren't you proud of me for getting my posts set up a head of time this week?  Check back tomorrow...

The Homestead

I am taking off in the morning for a few days of camping fun! Garret is playing in an honor band at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo on Sunday and the university is having their open house on Saturday which Tyler wants to go to so we thought we'd go camp at Pismo Beach and kill all the birds with one stone!

I wanted to share this card with you before I leave since a new Scene it set, The Homestead, is being released today. I think one of the things that I love most about the Scene it sets is how they all work so well together. For this card I combined The Homestead with Mountains.

Stamps:
-The Homestead (Scene it)
-Mountains (Scene it)
-birds are from Beacon of HOpe (Scene it)

Paper:
-Prism Paper cardstock

Ink:
-Adirondack Juniper, Aqua, Meadow, Pebbles, & hazelnut dye ink by Ranger
-Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink by Ranger
-Copic Markers

Other:
-Ribbon from www.ellenhutson.com
-Nestabilities by Spellbinder
-black brads
-sponge daubers

I am going to set up my post for tomorrow but then I won't be back till next week! Have a great rest of the week!

Heartfelt Color Challenge

I took the day off work because the kids have a bunch of appointments that I have to run them around to today so I had some time to do the color challenge on SCS this morning.

I used the newest set from the Scene it line that is being released tomorrow. It's called The Homestead.CHF Stamps:
-Pretty Pattern Backgrounder
-The Homestead (Scene it )

Paper:
-Twilight Medium, Sunflower Light, Iced Pink, Suede Brown Dark, and simply smooth white by Prism

Ink:
-Adirondack Hazelnut, aqua, meadow, lettuce, and black dye ink by Ranger
-copic markers

Other:
-Nestabilities by Spellbinder
-EK Success punch
-ofray gingham ribbon
-crochet flower from http://paperblooms.etsy.com

Technique: masking

I used to be so intimidated by masking and scene making but it is fast becoming one of my favorite ways to stamp! If you haven't tried it yet-starting with one of the scene it sets is a great way to start because each of the sets comes with everything you need to create a complete scene. I hope you'll give it a try!

Nearly a week away...

Sorry I've been absent this past week. I got home from North Carolina late on Wednesday last week and had a pile of home stuff (shopping, laudry, etc) to do as well as three days worth of my real work that I had to catch up on!

I haven't stamped in two weeks!!! But I do have another card that I made with the Under the Sea set from the last Scene it release to share with you.

I used the colors from the Basic Grey patterned paper as my inspiration and love the way it turned out. I am hoping to stamp later today...we'll see how it goes!
