As You Like It Challenge (DT) Anything Goes

Hello peeps, hope you are well on this blustery January day.  Question of the week:  Why do local authorities design wheely-bins to fall over in one puff of air when they are empty???

I shall leave you to ponder that one and move on to our new AS YOU LIKE IT theme which is
Anything Goes!

Since re-learning to crochet last March, I have slowly been building up the courage to try amigurumi (small critters) and finally I settled on this pattern from MisAdventures of Alice for a Squidlet Ⓒ (ok to recreate but not to claim as your own design, and not to sell) to attempt.  The first (pink) was a challenge but they have gotten easier and now they number 6 (Squidlet 006 is away on a secret spying mission and was therefore unavailable for the family photo).  My favourites are the chubby (out of focus, sorry) white one, and the little multi-colour chap just above his head.  The blue/grey one in the centre of the back row is normally my work desk buddy but he begged to come home just for a couple of days.  Apparently nothing much happens in the office once the cleaners have left for the night.

I won't tell you how long the first one took, but I have got them down to about two hours apiece now.

Let your imagination run wild and join us with your creativity for our Anything Goes theme which is sponsored by POLKADOODLES

Stitching - Real or Faux (DT) As You Like It Challenge

Well hello, how are you this morning?  It's time for another exciting challenge from the AS YOU LIKE IT team and this time we would like you to tell us all about your REAL OR FAUX STITCHING.

Normally when this theme comes around, I always opt for faux stitching, the stitched effect dies are brilliant for adding that extra touch to a card.  However, this year I have been learning a new skill and, ta-dah, you are getting REAL stitching from me!  Yup, I have been bitten by the crochet bug - these are mug coasters (although secretly I think they are too pretty to get tea stains on them)

The orange at the back and the multi-colour at the front were make with
Stylecraft Special DK
The blue on the left is Stylecraft Bellissima
and the blue/pink on the right is wool from Poundland

The pattern for these is Bella Coco Crochet Coaster - the original followed the pattern exactly but with the other three I made a slight change to the final round and got a slightly quirky border design.

I am not spending less time inking and painting, but more time being a hooker while I'm watching tv, sitting on the bus, lurking in coffee shops, it really is a portable hobby!

I have been taking part in the Random Acts of Crochet Kindness movement (Facebook and Instagram), started by the beautiful Olivia, and it is so satisfying to make a little flower that could change the perspective of someone's whole day without them knowing who has done it.

Anyhoo, the fabbie sponsor for our stitching theme is

(what more encouragement do you need?)

Hugs to all
