Hello all! 2014 brings new challenges, new vision and a new focus for Flourishes and today starts that focus. If you travel through our store, you know that we have a mix of old and new. Well, with a new year, we want to focus on all new! That means that what you'll find in the store will be smaller in scope, but always something to appeal to your creative side. What does this mean? We need to clear our shelves. What does that mean for you? You get a chance to save and save big!
I created this tag using various Tim Holtz products found in the Flourishes store. I love getting inky and creating mixed media projects. When I sat down, I had actually intended to make a card. Somehow I deviated from that and made a tag. Am I happy with the end result? Not really. It came out a little darken than I wanted, so I tried to white wash a little with gesso. Since TH inks react to water, the washing was causing the ink to turn muddy. I had to try and dry bush the gesso with very little water. Next time I will use paint instead of ink pads. I wasn't about to throw away the tag since I spent two hours of my time on it. I decided to go ahead and share it.

So Distressed
Here we are at our last day of November Sneak Peek Sets! Do you sometimes look at your blank sheet of card stock and think, “I wish there was a way I could warm it up or add some interest or texture without taking anything away from the main image? Or have you been longing to get your fingers inky and dabble in the mixed media craze?
I created this tag and the one in yesterday's post with this awesome distress stamp set. I started off with a manilla tag by Inkssentials that I Picked up at my local craft store. Then, I stamped one of the distress images in embossing ink and sprinkled it with clear embossing powder. The rest of the distress images are stamped in various Tim Holtz distress inks. I stamped and colored the sweet little butterflies with my copic markers and added glitter glue for some sparkle. The seam binding is hand dyed with Tim Holtz inks as well.

Friendship & Flowers
Hello again and welcome to Day Two of November Sneak Peeks! Now that you’re all warm and cozy from our fantastic hot-beverage set yesterday, today we’re going to celebrate all that’s warm and special about friendship.
I decided to make a vintage Tim Holtz inspired tag. I used various Tim Holtz distress ink pads to achieve this look. The seam binding is hand dyed with the distress inks as well. I absolutely love Sam's images for my mixed media projects. They have such an artistic flair to them, and the long stems work great for tags.
The pretty Swarovski crystal charm is a cell phone charm that my mom made for me many years ago before smart phones were so popular. Beading was my mom's hobby that I dearly miss. She was always making pretty beaded bookmarks to match each book she was currently reading. When she passed away I made sure to get all of her bookmarks. I gave a few away to close family members so they would have something to remember her by.

Prima Doll
Why hello there! I am back with a fun little Prima tag that I made using one of the darling new Prima doll stamps. The sweet Cheryl at Scraptown Lady was nice enough to have me guest post again and I chose this pretty gal to work with.
I stamped her on to some Flourishes white cardstock and colored her with my Copic markers. Her dress was then stamped and hand cut out of some darling MME paper, I then took my Copic markers and added some shading.
As you can see up close, I used some stencils from MFT and sponged on some Tim Holtz distress ink into the design of the stencil. The tag already has this great script writing on it.
I rolled up some MFT flowers and placed them on the scroll die cut. The doily was sprayed using some of my old Glimmer Mist sprays. Cheryl has an unbelievable amount of products in her online store, Scraptown Lady, just about anything a girl could want to make some crafty projects. Make sure you stop by and check it out, she carries products from many different stamp, die and paper companies as well as loads of embellishments and trims.
