January Artful reading club

Well it's the 25th of January and time for my review and art..

This month I read Killer Cruise by Laura Levine

Its Number 8 in the Jaine Austen mystery series. Came out in 2010.

Jaine Austen is a jingle writer in California  In  Killer Cruise she took a job at a Cruise to teach a class about writing. While on the cruise a murder takes place, one of the workers of the cruise ships is murdered and they think the murder victim's girlfriend did it. Jaine became friend with the girl before the murder and decides to help her out by finding out who did it. While teaching a class, flirting with a man she met on board, and editing a manuscript. Oh and sneaking salmon and shrimp to her cat that's she's hiding on board. I forgot to mention that her cat, Prozac(yes that's the cat's name) snuck out of her apartment and into the trunk of the car while Jaine went back as she forgot something. Once and a while we see e-mail from Jaine's parents and her neighbor as a b storyline.

The book just like all the other ones in the series is a good fast read. When I first sat down to read it I read 20 chapters. Then on Sunday Jan. 7 I finished it. It has lots of humor that I like in a book. The character are great. I can't wait to get the next one in the series (hopefully in kindel edition.lol)

I did a journal page when I wasn't really done with the book. But I got the jest of the story from the 20 chapters I read before doing the journal page.

I glued some tropical napkins to the page. Then I used some aqua and green craft paints. I swirled them together on the page. In the mail the day I was doing this page I happened to get the Cruise Traveler magazine. I ripped out the cruise ship and the couple on the page. I added some punchenilla with white craft paint. Then lastly I used some Mudd Puddles in Key Largo on the bottom of the page, to look like sand. I still have to put a title on the page, and maybe something about the book, Don't know yet.

The next book I'm going to be reading is Big Hair and Flowing Cows by Dolores J. Wilson

Nice review - leaves me feeling that I want to read the book, so I've noted down the details. I like a bit of humour and detection.
Interesting piece of artwork - that was a lucky stroke to be sent the cruise ship just on the day you needed it.

I am adding this to my reading list when I need an easy read. I like mysteries and with a cat named Prozac the humor sounds to be just my style. It also seems to have inspired some fun artwork!

Your journal page looks great. For some reason Janet Evanovich's books came to mind when I read your review. Sounds like a good light read.

This book series sounds like a lot of fun and this book in particular seems to be calling out for a spot on the beach and a cabana boy with a fruity drink. Love the bright colors on your journal page.
