This month's theme over at anything but a card is Celestial. The moon, the stars, the sun, or what you think celestial is.
I'm still in the apartment and my stuff is in storage ( This is the last time in saying that) So all my suns, moons and stars rubber stamps are all in storage in cold Chicago. But I did manage to do a celestial project.
One of the weeks of Documented life the prompt was Stars. I stamped a Julie Nutting stamp on newsprint. painted her skin an hair with Neo Color ii's. I then stamped her outfit using Lady Bird 6x6 pad by Prima. After I dressed her I used the scraps for the stars. I just drew stars on the back of the papers and then cut them out. and glued them to the planner pattern side up. then I glued on the girl. I added some washi tape also the same collection by prima. I outlined the stars with a black Bic pen. and I added a crown sticker to her.

Anything but a Card Challenge 38: Lets get Zen
This month at Anything but a card the theme is repeating motifs/patterns.
As you know I won a spot in Soul Food class. I started out doing good with the lessons, but then it was getting to advance for me with some of the lessons. But one lesson was from Dana (who I won the the spot to take the class from her blog. ) Her lesson was how she makes a collage background then does her faces and she made an angel from music paper. I went for the part on how she does her faces. It was super easy. Course mine are NOTHING like her's. lol
For this months challenge I decided to do a face. I first drew her on graph paper. Made it easier for me to get the spacing right for the eyes. Then I copied it on the printer. Then I traced it on to copy paper using a light box. I colored her with Derwent 24 Studio rose pink color pencil. But it was so pail I had to use water color crayon in the apricot. I also used the red for the lips and blues for the eyes. I used the ivory black for the eyes and the nose. Instead of coloring her hair like I normally do, I zentangled her face. The patterns I found were from the books One Zentangle a day by Beckah Krahula, Online, and from the book Totally Tangled by Sandy Steen Bartholomew.
After drawing and Tangleing her, I had no idea what to do with her. I decided to use her for the Documented Life pages. This is for the week of July 23. The prompt for that week was use a quote from a book. For the background I wanted to play with the Ferro Special Effects paste by Viva Decor In Graphite. I took a circle stencil and used a pallet knife to put the paste through it. I made sure not to put the paste where I was going to put her. I let it dry over night, but It did dry pretty quick.
I glued her down on the page. I then went to find a quote from a book. After not finding one from Shelfira.com I went to brainry, com. First I looked at Dr. Seuss, But nixed that idea and looked for an Anne Frank quote I liked. I copied and pasted it in Word Pad. I used a font called Dean Martin swing. Cut the words apart and glued it down.

Documented Life Weeks 8 and 9
Last week the prompt was add a flap to the flap. Well my flap is on the opposite side of where everyone else flaps are.(dose that make sense) So I made 2 flaps to my journal page. I used DCWV Fame Fatal papers. The imaiges are from a Life Magazine book that i got from the used book sale at my library a couple years ago. They are black and white imags. And I colored parts of them with my neo color 2's.
The other side of the flaps I tried out some watercolor crayons and some new stencils/masks I made with my Hot Marks tool and transparency.
the main page
This page of my junk journal had 2 little pages in it. I doodled on one of them both sides. they other I doodled and stamped and smashed.
This Week-Week 9 It was collage something you recycle. At our Jewel (Albertson's in some parts of the country) They have a monopoly game. I had a ton of duplicates, instead of tossing in the recycle(after seeing of someone else needed any) I glued them on the page. Then sprayed and painted the background. Added some stencils. Added a pocket which was a library pocket from a book I had gotten from the library book sale and took off. Covered it in scrapbook paper and sponged some stencils on to that. glued it on the page. I added another stencil I made. And then a quote by Marilyn Monroe I was going to use on journal page but added it here.

Documented Life Weeks 3 and 4
Well I'm still keeping up with Documented Life.
Week 3 prompt was mail art. I took an envelope that I had made with the envelope maker and glued it to the page. then I put stuff that I had gotten during the week inside the envelope. The other side of the page I smashed other stuff I got during the week. Can't show that because it shows addresses.

Week 4 prompt was write whatever you want on the page then paint over it but only leave 1 word.
I did a word dump and wrote what I was feeling. Then I painted over that with 2 types of craft paints. and some sprays. but you can still see what I wrote So I took this Number mask that my friend Julia sent me and sponged black craft paint. I then used some punchenilla and the White Linen Dylusions spray ink. I then glued one of the Julie Nutting dolls by Prima that I made a while back. I wrote down 2 words with this white chalk pen that I got at Target in the Dollar bin. The pen is ok. lol

Documented Life
Happy 2014! I taken some challenges to do for the year. We'll see how well I do at keeping up with them. :) One of the challenges I joined with along with my friends is Documented Life. Its part planner, part art journal and part journaling. I know I wont do the writing part. but the planning and the art part I will eb doing. We are 2 weeks in 2014 so I thought I show off what I did with the prompts. I don't know if I will blog my art every week for this every week or every 2 weeks. We'll see how it goes. :)
Week 1 prompt is door. you can draw a door, take a picture of your door. what ever. I happen to have a stencil.

Week 2(this week) prompt is selfi.. There was no way i was going to take a selfi of myself. lol So I drew a figure. and wrote some stuff about me. I had the girl holding half of broken heart. The other half is on the ground. I know some of the words I wrote made people sad but those are what popped out when it came to what words described me. The broken heart has shown up in various pages in my art in my art journals.
Oh I'm not really a secratary...I just play one online. LOL
