Fairy Fun Fridays "Anything Goes" Challenge!

Okay. Just to let you know, I am several days late posting this layout! I should have had it up Friday, but did not. Why, you may ask? Well, because when it rains, it pours! In the past week my car had to go into the shop (grand total of nearly $900), my hubby has been laid off until February, our son had to go to the ER (he is okay!), and I took on some freelance work editing/laying out a friend's new magazine, which kept me very busy several evenings last week. However, my faith is strong and I am keeping my head up! I am trying to let God have total control and realize that everything happens for a reason. The wonderful Roberta helped me with that this very weekend with kind emails and understanding words. I am so appreciative to be on her DT. It is definitely a blessing because not only do I get to play with her wonderful images, but I also get to work with someone so patient, sweet and understanding!

So, this layout is for Fairy Fun Friday!! The current challenge going on is "anything goes!" So, I went with a layout of our adorable cousin that I was able to compliment with some beautiful digital images from Prairie Fairy Digital Stamps. The flowers and leaves can be found in Roberta's store and are really fabulous to work with! A lovely vine comes with this set too, but I just decided to use the leaves. I colored the images with Prisma pencils and use pop dots for the dimension. The buttons in the flower centers are antique ones from my stash and the thread is Bazzill. I am not sure who the kraft cardstock is by, but the black cardstock is Bazzill. The polka dot paper is by Junkitz and the leaf paper I made by using a SU wheel stamp. The border punch is SU, the chipboard letters are by K&C0., distressing ink by StampCraft, the adhesive paper ribbon trim is by Flair Designs and I used a Sharpie for journaling.

The photo was taken when we were doing family photos for Christmas. Casey was having such a good time and if you can get him to slow down long enough for a photo, it is a miracle! He has so much energy! I just happened to click several shots of him and got this one, which we loved, hence the title, 'Still.' The journaling is Psalms 46:10 and reads, Be still and know that I am God. I just thought that went so well with this layout!

I hope you will take the time to hop on over to Fairy Fun Fridays and see the amazing work by the other DT members, and take part in the current challenge! Roberta is offering some great goodies for the winner! And, don't forget to visit her store HERE! She has several new releases that are just too cute! Happy Scrappin'!

Scrapsketch #184

Oh, how I love being on the Scrapsketch DT! I just love being able to play with Stephanie's awesome sketches and work with so many talented scrappers on the design team! This is sketch #184 and I decided to venture out of my safety zone a little by doing a horizontal 81/2 x 11, something I had not done before. So far, I just love doing this size layout! It really is a nice change of pace from having done 12 x12 for so long!

This layout is of my hubby and what we now call his signature pose, well, at least one of his signature poses. He does have another but that is best saved for another layout! He is always doing the thumbs up sign...especially at NASCAR races, which is where these photos were taken. Although it sometimes drives me crazy, we do giggle about it and it is kinda cute.

The background paper is by Elsie, I believe. I am not sure because it was part of an unamed stack my awesome mom in law bought me at a recent scrapbook yard sale we went to at our LSS. I do love the paper though and if anyone knows for sure, leave me a comment! Would love to know! The patterned strip is MME and the scalloped polka dot is an adhesive border I have had for ages that I picked up at Target. The white chipboard arrow is by Junkitz. The other arrow, the chipboard circles, and the stars are all by Miss Elizabeth. The journaling tag is Basic Grey and the ribbon is American Craft. For the title I used my Cricut and the Opposites Attract cart. The brown polka dot paper is DCWV and the orange is Chatterbox.

Please take a moment to head on over to Scrapsketch and see all the amazing sketches Stephanie created and the rockin' layouts the DT created to accompany them! They are completely awesome!

And, don't forget to sign up for my blog candy! Either click here to go directly to the post or just scroll down a few. All you have to do to win some fun American Craft goodies from my stash is sign up to be a follower and leave me a comment! Easy Peasy! Happy Scrapping!

Creative Twist Up Close & Personal Challenge

Hello, Hello! Sorry to all that I haven't been posting much crafty goodness lately! It seems though that God is taking care of things for my family and the days are getting easier! I promise to get back on track and have some more posts this week than I have had in the past two weeks!

It is Monday, which means my regular Creative Twist DT challenge post! This week, the awesome Christina gave us an absolutely fabulous challenge that I just loved! It was an 'up close & personal' challenge, meaning to use a photo that was a close up or zoomed in on someone or something. I chose this photo of my rockin' hubby, Andy. I took it back in April during our annual NASCAR trip. We always go to Fuddrucker's in Grapevine, Texas for dinner the Saturday before the big race. He ordered the biggest burger you could get! He is a big guy and as you can see from the photo, that is one HUGE burger too! Yes, he did finish it all too...and the yummy cheese fries!

It seems I have another new love of late too....81/2 x11 layouts! I finally stepped out of my comfort zone a few weeks ago and did my first one. I am hooked! I absolutely love them and will definitely be incorporating them into my regular scrappy style! And, I really liked how this one turned out too! I used Reminiscence, K&Co., MME and Making Memories paper along with some fiber from the Lady Marmalade Gauche Alchemy kit, and some vintage buttons I have been hoarding for awhile. Love, love, love vintage yummies! The rub-on is Making Memories as well, and the journal tag is Heidi Swapp. I used Thickers (pajamas felt font) for the title and I am definitely getting the most out of these little guys! See, those "l's"? They use to be "i's"! And that "i" in American used to be a "j" & the "a" at the end of American was a "d" in a former life! I am a firm believer in getting the most bang for your buck and this is such an easy way to use all the letters! I also have to admit I love how my little flower turned out! As you can tell, since I am always using them, I love making these cute little flowers and they are super easy too! This one I sewed together using some Bazzill thread. I also used StampCraft ink in black and coffee to distress the background paper and journal tag.

Make sure you hop on over to Creative Twist and check out all the terrific projects the other DT members came up with! If you play along with the challenges you will be entered to win a gift certificate! And, there is currently an AMAZING fall challenge blog hop going on that Creative Twist is participating in! Make sure you start out at Scrapsketch and enjoy the blog-hoppin' party! Happy Scrapping!

Every Day

I finally conquered one of my scrappin' fears....an 8.5x11 layout! Yay! I see so many cool layouts in this size and finally got the courage to do one myself. I like how it turned out for my first one too! And, this is the first time in a little while that I have done a layout without a sketch. Everyone knows I love sketches, but letting your mojo flow is fab too!

The photo was taken last week while I was sitting in traffic driving home at rush hour. This is my daily commute. UGH! For some reason I decided to pull out my camera and snap a pic, despite the odd stares from a few drivers! LOL! I get sooooo tired of dealing with this on a daily basis but there is not much I can do about it. I work an easy 30 minutes from home....in good traffic. My morning drive is usually not this bad, but evenings are always crazy. I totally identify with the song, How Far We've Come, by Matchbox Twenty. I like to listen to the part about sitting in traffic...when I am sitting in traffic. hehehe If you haven't ever heard it, take a listen to it HERE.

Most of the products I used are Reminiscence. I won a small kit when I went to a crop at my LSS quite awhile back and finally decided to use it. I also used some thickers and some random letter stickers from my stash. The black chipboard arrow is also from my stash and I inked the edges of the papers with StampCraft black ink. I also used a Uniball Vision Elite black pen (my fav for journaling and such) to draw all the lines, the circle and to journal. Thanks for taking a look and I hope you like my first stab at this size! It is pretty simple but I kind of like that too. And although it was cloudy, at least it wasn't raining again and I got outdoors to take my pics! I do love rain, but not so much when it interferes with my scrappy photos! LOL! Happy Scrapping!
