Love + Hugs Birthday Card!

Hello my crafty friends! Are you enjoying some spring weather? We are having some absolutely beautiful weather here and I am loving it! It makes me want to craft my little heart out! LOL!

This is a card I decided to whip up for my hubby, whose birthday is coming up Monday. We are celebrating Sunday, however, with a big family get together in conjunction with Easter. I absolutely love my husband with all my heart and feel so blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life...he is a terrific friend, husband, and dad!

For this card I decided to use a Bee Crafty image that I received as a prize for winning their Valentines challenge. I absolutely love this image and think it is so sweet! I used my Prisma's to color the image and used some Spica glitter pens (thanks Kelly!) on the dress & hearts, too. The background paper is American Crafts, as is the brown ribbon and yellow cardstock, while the pink plaid paper is The Paper Studio. The teal, scallop-edged ribbon is Making Memories. I used a Prima flower and a little bling from my stash too. The sentiment I printed on my computer, then cut out and inked with some Studio G magenta ink. On the inside of the card, the sentiment is finished with, "on your birthday!"

A Shabby Spring Wreath!

Hello again! I guess my crafty mojo is back because I have been on a roll lately! Thank goodness! I think a lot of it though has to do with the weather...it has been so beautiful here the past few days and I am just so happy that Spring is finally here! Which is why I decided to whip up this shabby chic wreath and share with y'all!

I have to say I love how this turned out all vintage shabby chic and most of all I love it because it practically didn't cost anything! The only item I purchased was the wreath form and the ribbon, both for $1 at Dollar Tree! Everything else I had on hand. I had some vintage dress patterns on hand from Gauche Alchemy, as well as some Vintage sheet music. You can find the old dress patterns at your local thrift store. I have seen them around mine for less than a quarter a packet! Or, you can always get some by ordering one of GA's awesome kits! I free hand cut a lot of circles out of the dress patterns, then hot glued them on individually. I did this by putting a pencil (eraser end) in the center of the circle, folding the circle around itself, added a dab of hot glue to the bottom where it met the pencil, and then attached it to the wreath. The great part about it all was that none of it had to be perfect! It gave it some character and added to the shabbiness of the whole project if some of the circles weren't perfect.

After the wreath was assembled, I spritzed it with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (which I totally heart!) and set it aside to dry. I then pulled out my Cricut and used the Indie Solutions cart to cut my butterflies out of the vintage sheet music. After they were cut, I inked the edges with some Autumn Leaves Topaz ink and hot glued those to the wreath. I gathered my ribbon, cut my length, and hot glued that on as well!

However, I am undecided about one thing! I am not sure if this cutie needs a bow or not? What do you think? Should I add one at the top where the ribbon attaches to the wreath? Or, should I leave it as is? Oh, and see that lovely old rocking chair in the background of my photo? Yep, that is one of my future projects! I want to repaint it a nice, antique white with some mild distressing. I have had the poor thing for over a year sitting on my front porch after picking it up at a antique sidewalk sale for less than $5! Maybe I will get a chance to do that this weekend! Currently I have this chair, three tables and a bench that need to be refinished. But first, I have to work on several Design Team projects for this week...so check back in soon for some more projects! Happy

2 Cute Rubber Stamps DT!

I am so very happy to announce that I am now a DT member at 2 Cute Rubber Stamps! How cool is that?! I was just tickled pink when the amazing Sammye Jo (you must check out her fabulous site!) asked me over the weekend if I would like to join this wonderful DT. I didn't even hesitate to say yes!

The awesome stamping site offers both digi and cling mounted stamps that are, as the name says it all, 2 Cute! I love all the furry & feathered friends that I will have the opportunity to play with! I will be sharing my first crafty post next week, Tuesday, April 6th, and you can catch my regular crafty post at 2 Cute Rubber Stamps each and every Tuesday after that! I am so excited, I can't wait to get started. The hardest part? Deciding which adorable image I want to play with first! Prairie Fairy Friday Easel Card Challenge!

Hey everyone! I am back with another Prairie Fairy Fun Friday challenge! This week, the amazing Roberta asked us DT members to create an easel card and I was more than happy to whip up another one! I had so much fun making one a few weeks ago because these popular cards are simple and fun!

To get the party started I used a Prairie Fairy Digital Stamps that is offered up as a FREEBIE on Roberta's blog! That's right! You can snag his adorable little Easter bunny, entitled All Cracked Up, by going right HERE! I decided to try something new this week and didn't use my Prisma's to color the image and instead I used some Sharpies. I am not thrilled with how the image came out at all, although I will say that I do love the look I achieved with the little egg! I actually colored the egg with a white Sakura gelly roll pen and then, while it was still wet, I covered it with Stickles. It doesn't show up in the photo too well, but in person it looks like liquid applique! Pretty neat!

The cardstock I used was CTMH & Bazzill Bling, the patterned paper is by Pebbles, Inc. & American Craft, the flowers are Prima, the ribbon is American Crafts, the buttons are from my stash, and the ink I used on the edges is by Studio G. I also used my Paper Pups & All Mixed Up Cricut carts for the sentiment. This was also my first time using Core'Dinations cardstock and I absolutely loved it!

You Light Up My Life!

I am slowly getting over my loss of mojo. For several weeks now I have had a hard time crafting anything, unless it was something required by one of the DT's I am on. That usually happens to me about twice a year, but this little bout of mojo madness lasted longer than usual and seemed to go a little deeper than normal. But alas, I whipped up a card that wasn't required and I used my stash to do so! And I do like how it turned out...all shabby chic!

First, I want to say how much I simply adore this little three dimensional chandelier sticker by K&Co.! Not only is it super cute, but it lights up as well! How cute is that! I tried to take a closeup photo of the little lamps lighting up and it shows up a little in the photo. I have had this bad little bugger in my stash for a couple of years now, and when I did pick it up, it was in a clearance bin for 50 cents. Even cooler!

The cardstock is Bazzill Bling, the patterned paper is My Mind's Eye & Making Memories, vintage looking ribbon is from Dollar Tree, satin ribbon was leftover from a candy package (!), and the button is a vintage one from my stash. I used some vintage dress pattern from Gauche Alchemy for the ruffle, which I spritzed with a little Glimmer Mist. I also distressed & inked my papers with coffee colored StampCraft ink. The sentiment is part of a set by Sweet & Sassy Stamps that my dear friend Leah sent to me when I won her blog candy a few months ago. It was just perfect for this card! Now, on to some totally non-craft related stuff! Let me start by saying that the weather here in Oklahoma is craaaazzzyyy! It is often joked about here that we have two seasons...hot and cold! A great example of that is what happened over the weekend. As you can see in the photo, this was what we woke up to Saturday morning on the first day of spring. Yep, a bit of a blizzard in spring. What makes this a little more odd was the fact that it was in the 70's on Friday, the day prior to the snow storm, and on Sunday was back up into the 60's. Right now, it is 72 degrees here in our great state! Needless to say our fur baby was delighted to get one last romp in the snow in before he works on his tan through the end of the summer! Our son however was not as happy as it ruined his movie plans with his little girlfriend! I was just happy that it wasn't as bad as they had forecast. Originally they said full scale blizzard with 14 inches of snow and 50 mph winds. Well, we got the winds, but thankfully we only ended up with about 6 inches and 2-3 foot drifts. What made me giggle to myself was that we have beautiful green grass springing up all over and poking up through the snow! But what aggravated me was that one of our fruit trees had started blooming a few days prior to the snow...now I am afraid she is done for the rest of the year without bearing any fruit. Poor thing...happened to her last year too!

Home is Where Your Dog is...Prairie Fairy Challenge!

Hello! So sorry I have been absent the last week or two! Both the kiddo and I got sick, and then I have been enjoying my stay-cation with him during Spring Break! So nice to have this time to ourselves...I have really enjoyed being with him this week! Now, on to the crafting!

This week's Prairie Fairy Friday DT challenge is to use complimentary colors! I chose to use primarily blue with a little bit of orange thrown in...as well as coordinating brown. I loved this challenge and was happy with the way the card turned out. It challenged me in a different way and that was fantastic! The adorable little puppy image is one you can snag HERE at Prairie Fairy Digital Stamps! Roberta designs the absolute cutest stamps and her latest ones are fabulous! Make sure to check them out because her prices are fabulous too!

I colored my adorable puppy using my Prisma pencils then clipped him out and used pop dots on the top portion of his head to give him some dimension. The sentiment is Studio G and I used Staz On black ink for it and StampCraft coffee ink for the distressing. The paper is by K&Co. and My Mind's Eye, the lace & flowers are from the Dollar Tree, & I used my Cricut to cut the shape out of some Making Memories scrap paper that my sentiment is stamped on.

Fairy Fun Friday "Green" Challenge!

Hey y'all! I'm back with another creation for the awesome Prairie Fairy Design Team! This week's challenge from Roberta for us Prairie Fairies were to use the color green on our layouts. We could design a St. Patrick's themed creation if we wanted, or we could just use green. So fun! I had a birthday card that needed to be done and managed to incorporate just enough green to pass the challenge, I think! LOL!

Once again I used an adorable digital stamp from Prairie Fairy Digital Stamps called, Party Animal! Are those not the cutest little wild critters you have ever seen? So much fun to play with and you can grab the image yourself at the store HERE. I used my Prisma pencils, as well as a silver & black Sharpie, to color my image. I absolutely loved how well the Sharpies and Prismas blended together! The cardstock is by Bazzill & The Paper Studio, and the patterned papers are by Making Memories, My Mind's Eye & American Crafts. The ribbon is also AC. The buttons are from my stash, the floss is Bazzill, the brads are Making Memories, and I used some Studio G ink for distressing. The sentiment I just snagged off the Internet and printed on my computer! Thought it was so cute! I also used a sketch from the awesome Stephanie over at scrap sketch! This is the same card sketch I used last week, but I flipped it around!
