Easel Calendar Display by Virginia Nebel

It's a New Year and I thought it would be fun to share a project that incorporates a mini calendar and room for seasonal photos.  This will look pretty on your desk and keep you organized at the same time!  The inspiration for this project is the easel card construction.  My easel card is sized A9 which measure 8.5 x 5.5 inches when the project is flat.  I chose this size so that it fits into a standard mailing  envelope should you decide to make some for friends and family.

Supplies: Pink Paislee and Crate pattern paper, Scor-tape, Twinery twine, Creative Impressions brads, Washi Downtown Tape, Calendars (saved from advertising mail)

Here's how to make the A9 sized Easel card:

1. Score 11 x 8.5 inch cardstock at 5.5 and 8.25 inches.

2. Valley fold on 5.5 inch score line and mountain fold on 8.25 inch score line.

3.  Apply Scor-tape on the top panel only.

4.  Adhere a separate 8.5 x 5.5 inch card stock piece, lining it up to the top edge of the folded panel and adhere together.  You have just finished your the easel card construction.

5. The easel part of the card only stays up when it is positioned behind a raised element (positioned about halfway) on the horizontal panel of the card. 

6. The calendar was a marketing mailout that I had saved, if you do not have a calendar you could download mini calendar templates off the internet or substitute a post-it pad instead.

7.  Making the project sized to A9 gives you plenty of room to include a favorite photograph.  Here I just used washi tape to tack down a photo that would slip under the belly band.

8.  The easel card easily lies flat so that you could place it into a mailing envelope.

Hello!  It's Lisa with a fast project today.  I was so inspired by the beautiful Fancy Pants papers!

The Good Life Easel Card and Wall-hanging Note Holder Gift Set

Supplies:

Patterned Paper: The Good Life by Fancy Pants Designs, Paper Tape Sticker Sheet

Embellishments: Mingled Buttons by Fancy Pants Designs

Tools: Scor-Pal Scoring Board in Inches, Scor-Tool, Scor-Tape

Cardstock: Dark brown (one piece trimmed to 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" and one 4-1/4" square piece) and Solar White from DiscountCardstock.com

Other: Paper flowers by Prima Marketing, Maraschino twine by The Twinery, 1-1/4" circle punch by EK Success, white Behr paint with primer from Home Depot, Notebook cover (dollar store find), red ribbon by May Arts, Mod Podge glue adhesive

Creating personalized gifts for those we love is easy with the right tools and beautiful papers.

To create an easel card:

Begin with a 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" piece of cardstock.  Score in half with the Scor-Pal scoring board and Scor-Tool at 4-1/4" and again at 6-3/8".

Pre-fold along the score lines.

Add Scor-Tape to the end section of your pre-folded base as shown pictured below.

 

Align the 4-1/4" square cardstock square to the bottom edge of the pre-folded base to create the card.

Complete your card with additional patterned paper.  Be sure to add a decorative strip on the base of the card to provide a place for the easel to stand upright.

To complete the note holder:

Begin with a sturdy base for your wall-hanging.  In this example, I used the front page of a purchased notebook that had a die-cut edge.  You could use chipboard (purchased for the purpose, the back page of a spiral notebook or a piece of cardboard from a cereal box).

OPTIONAL: Paint your wall-hanging base.  I love to use small samples of Behr paint that has primer added to it.  You can purchase this at Home Depot in white (or you can ask to have it tinted to a preferred color using one of the provided chips).  It's incredibly economical and covers excellently.  Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

To embellish the wall-hanging, I created a rosette.  Trim a piece of patterned paper to 1" x 10-1/4".  Score at 1/4" intervals.

Accordion fold the strip, alternating the folds for a mountain / valley fold.

Adhere the end of your folded strip to the opposite end.  The folds will be continuous and match.

Flatten the folded structure to create the rosette.  Adhere punched circles of patterned paper (2 of them) to the front and back of the rosette to hold it together.  Embellish with a button and twine.

Embellish your wall-hanging with additional coordinating patterned papers and ribbon.  In this project, I did use Mod Podge to adhere and seal the papers to the front of my wall-hanging.  Adhere a small stack of self-sticking notes to the front with Scor-Tape.

Your project, made with many found or low cost items, will be a perfect gift without damaging your pocket book!

Are you ready for Christmas? Time is running out, so the Scor-Pal team has some last minute ideas to share with you this week using our faithful Scor-Pals and gorgeous papers from Fancy Pants Designs.  While some of my team members had to be creative to turn their papers into something fun for the season, I had it easy! The papers I received were from the Home for Christmas collection.   

I created a Christmas ornament, but it would also be lovely used on a package.

Begin by cutting 20 Heirloom Ornaments (Middle size) from the patterned paper.  Score 15 of these down the middle.

Attach one side of an ornament to another (wrong sides together), using Scor-tape. Add a 3rd ornament the same way.

Add the fourth (and unscored ornament) across the back of the dimensional ornament. Make 5 of these total.

Cut 5 pieces of paper 3" x 3".  Cut a decorative die cut and glue to the center.  Fold the two sides together to form a cone and glue with Scor-tape.

Repeat until you have 5 of each shape.

Cut a circular base from cardstock, and arrange the ornament shapes evenly around the paper.  Adhere with Scor-Tape.

Nestle the cones between the ornaments and hold with Scor-Tape. 

Cut 2 strips of paper 1" x 12" and form a rosette.  Place a decorative brad in the center of the rosette and glue to the center of the large ornament.  Add a ribbon loop to the back to hang the ornament from your tree or package. Add stickles and ink the edges to finish.
