Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #178 - Color Inspiration

happy Monday!
let's start this week off with a NEW challenge over at the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge blog!

yay!
there's nothing better than using stencils on a card!! one my favorite things to use!

I think I love color inspirations most!
for my card, instead of making a traditional summer card, I used the colors as an jumping off part!

BFF Necklaces Card by Samantha M for Lawn Fawnatics Challenge, Card Making, Distress Oxide Inks, Stencil, Rainbows, Die Cutting, Heat Embossing, handmade Cards, #lawnfawnatics #lawnfawn #diecutting #cardmaking #heatembossing #distressinks #inkblending

so fun, right?
I used the super cute Heart Shaker Gift Tag and altered it to create a set of friendship necklaces!! I'm in love!
I used Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry for the outline of the pendants. And I used Saltwater Taffy and Dried Marigold for the inside!
I used the Harold's ABCs set to add the 'BFF' with some heat embossing in white.
I used the Single Natural Cord to mimic the chains for the pendants!

for the background, I used the Corner Rainbow Stencils with various blues and teals of Distress Oxide Inks: Uncharted Mariner, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Salvaged Patina
I also couldn't resist adding some gold splatters, too!

I finished by heat embossing a sentiment from Happy Hugs and then die cutting it out with the Stitched Sentiment Banners.

I really can't WAIT for you to play along! you could win a $25 gift certificate to Lawn Fawn!!!!
enjoy!

puppy friends are the best friends!

...or even friends who have puppies are the best friends! ha!
my best friend recently adopted TWO Aussiedors! (which are Australian Shepherd and Chocolate Lab mixes) and they are the CUTEST, softest best little puppers ever!

I decided to make a card for her featuring them for her and the card is up on the Newton's Nook blog today!

so cute!
I stamped and colored the images from Puppy Friends Stamp Set with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then used the coordinating dies to die cut them out!
I had a hard time coloring the one on the left, ha!! but I did my best to emulate the real puppies on the card! any tips for coloring Australian Shepherd type pups is welcome! :P

for the background, I die cut the heart from white cardstock and ink blending with Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves and Dried Marigold.
after the initial ink blending, I placed the Petite Paw Prints Stencil on top and used the same colors, but with more pressure to add the tone-on-tone look for the background.

then I die cut out the frame from the new A2 Card Layout 2 Die Set from white cardstock and then cut THAT frame out with the Heart Frames Die Set! I popped it up with foam tape.
the sentiment was heat embossed with white. and then I used the smallest heart from the Heart Frames Die Set and ink blended it with Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers, because I felt the card needed one more area of a pop of green!

be sure to check out the card up on the Newton's Nook blog!
enjoy!

aw, I just LOVE all of those kitties!
I combined images from Keep on SwimmingSay What? Pets and Meow You Doin'!
I used lots of Distress Inks to create the background, ink blended them all together, and then for the 'wall', I used the Woodgrain Backdrops to add some wall-paper-y texture!

I think my favorite interactive die right now is the Let's Toast Pull Tab Add-On Die, and I used it to make that fish jumping in and out of the bowl! lol!
this card just cracks me up!
the sentiment was combined with phrases from Critter Chatter: Pets and Meow You Doin'.

don't forget to check it out on the Lawn Fawn blog...and also check out my video on youtube, if you're up for a laugh! ha!

hello and happy release day to everyone out there in the Sweet world!
today Sweet Stamp Shop is releasing new stamps and NEW washi! yahoooo!!

i have a BUNCH of new projects to share, so let's get right down to it!

what's not to love, am I right?!
I LOVE that new Bubble Alpha, Bubble Alpha Fill and Bubble Number sets!! The shapes of the letters/numbers are SO FUN!

it's perfect to pair with any other Sweet Stamp Shop to create a custom card! I used the super adorable Peekaboo Cats set to create this fun and funny card!
i'm TOTALLY a cat person, so it's OK that i made it! ha! most of my friends are dog people, so they'll get a kick out of this one!! ha!

also, people, there's a new WIZARD set!!!! EEEEEEEEE! i made have done an actual happy dance when I saw this one!!

it's SO perfect to combine with the previous wizard stamp sets, and I can see a LOT of these kinds of cards in my future!! LOVE! :) The new Magical Friends stamp set works seemlessly with the original Wizards set! EEEEE! love them!

my last card featuring the new stamps is RAINBOW!!!
so of course i LOVE it! ha ha! i took two traditionally planner stamp sets and made this fun card! I am in LOVE with it!!! hope it made you smile, too!

next up, let's look at a sample of the new washi!!! but believe me, there's SO much more being released!!

i know there are going to be LOTS of you out there who are excited for this new zombie washi!!!! i even used a piece of one of the rolls as my title!!! a little stamping with the Hand Out stamp set as a bunch of zombie hands!! ha! so FUN and unexpected!

and I love lining the edges of my journals with washi!! SO easy, and super fun to do! and just look at how FUN that looks!! i can't wait to do a rainbow theme in my next album!!

lastly, I made a planner spread with some DRAGON washi!! MY FAVORITE!! ha ha!! not only are the designs just ADORABLE, but check out the colors!! i was super inspired!!

so be sure to get your favorites before they're gone! i want to hear what you're most excited about!! the washi? or the stamps?

crunchy and creamy and cool

i had SO much fun going through my old stash and making a card for the use what you have challenge at the sweet stamp shop last week! i had to play along again - it's too fun! and i feel accomplished afterwards because i have less waste in my craft room! it's win-win!

this week, nicole also challenged everyone to play along and combine your card with another challenge, too!! even better! so i chose to play along with the retro sketches challenge this week, as well! it's such a fun sketch!!

i used the sweet stamp shop's, perfect match stamp set - one of my top favorites! i love the pairings of the food! so fun! :) ha ha! here's my card!

i paper pieced the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and also added some glossy accents - it was calling to me! :) they're also popped up - i could NOT resist adding a touch of dimension! oh, and i LOVE that red strawberry jelly!! ha ha! oh, and as for my 'old' stash...check it out: rub ons!!! oh yeah baby! two different kinds to be exact!

i just couldn't get past the sentiment i created in my mind (through thick and think, crunchy and creamy - best friends!)! get it? because peanut butter can be of the crunchy or creamy variety? lol! i crack myself up. the 'crunchy & creamy' part was created by using individual rub on letters...sort of tedious. but, worth it in this case. :)

i especially love the blue striped banner and bit of twine on this card - i added them to follow the sketch closer and i think that aqua blue is a great compliment to the reds, brown, and beige-s of the pb&j colors! :)

so that's it!
enjoy! and don't forget to go through your stash and give new life to your old product! :)

a couple of best friends

today i have a card to share that just made for the play date cafe challenge
this time, the colors are super pretty and soft!

i have to admit i was staring at my brand new mama elephant stamps and i just really wanted to get them inky and play! and then the idea came into my head for a best friend (aka friendship) card! and i really like it! i want to run and put it in the mail today!!! ...but no mail today, tomorrow though! :)

so here's my card:

i used the cosmic stars and smitten stamp sets for the card - LOVE!!!!
the little gemini's are paper pieced and popped up for dimension. and i even added a little blush to their cheeks with 1 of my 5 copic markers! lol!

the doily is literally from a restaurant!!! they were the 'coasters' and i snagged them for scrapping!! (who needs coasters? napkins it is!) i think i may have a problem! lol! but i'm so glad i did, because i think it adds to the femininity of the card!

the yellow banners are cut from a MFT banner die, and the pink is some washi - i tried, but just couldn't NOT use washi. i have so much! and i love it , so i want to use it! lol!

so that's it!
enjoy!

gettin texty with it

today i am sharing a card i made for the most recent challenge at lawnscaping - getting texty!

it was super fun and easy card to make, and i really like it! but i was looking at the other submissions so far, and they are so amazing! so i'm having a bit of card envy! i already have another card in mind for this challenge, as well as a layout. now i just have to find time to make them! (we're moving on saturday, so i'm also operating with half my supplies, which makes it more difficult!)

anyway, here it is:

i printed out the lyrics to queen's 'you're my best friend' onto white cardstock. that is one of my all time favorite bands, and song! i used a strip of vellum to soften the lyrics where i put the main sentiment.

i used lawn fawn's 'quinn's abc's' stamp set (one of my new favorite sets!) and just fussy cut the letters. inside of the card i paper-pieced the pears from 'my silly valentine'. i thought it would be a cute little addition since the pears just look so cute and friendly together!

alright, that's it! i'm off to finish work and hopefully get a little crafty later tonight! :)

enjoy!

made for each other

well shoot! i just made the title for this post "made for each other" and i'm thinking that should have been the sentiment on my card instead of what i used! nuts! ha ha! oh well!

moving on...

i just finished a card for the latest lawnscaping challenge - pick one of kelly marie's cards and CASE it! first of all, all of her cards are amazing and beautiful! so how do you improve on that?! i decided you can't, so instead i used her card as inspiration for mine. as soon as she posted this card a (month or so ago), i was instantly in love with it! so i knew i would use that card for my inspiration. here is the original lawn fawn card:

see? how can i compete with that?? ha ha!
here is what i decided to do:

it's a squre card with an off center-ed circle border in the middle. i used glitter-y yellow thickers for the sentiment - and i originally went with bff's because well, milk and cookies seem to always be together! (especially in this house. my husband is a stickler for having milk whenever he has cookies. he has even NOT eaten a cookie because we were out of milk. now, that's a little nuts and i even tease him about that. cookies are good by themselves too!!) but as i mentioned earlier, i think 'made for each other' would have worked even better! :)

back to the card. i popped up the milk and cookies stamp (which i also paper pieced); do i even have to say that they're lawn fawn? :) the circle border thing is also popped up. i used another stamp to make the background of the card. it says, 'friends are the chocolate chips in the cookies of life'.

so that's my card! :)
enjoy!
