I ink blended it all together and then splattered water and ink color and white acrylic ink on top! I used the Basic Stars stencil to add details, with the ink blending. then I used the same stencil with white embossing paste for extra texture!

driveway hockey layout!

hello there!
today I'm sharing this layout I made for the 10th Altenew Sketch Challenge! love it!

the Altenew Sketch Challenges are my FAVORITE challenge, I just LOVE each sketch!
so this time, I made a layout combining both Scrapbook Kits: Our Family and Reflections

so fun!
I love the loose, grid style, and tried to mimic it on my page!

I love those wood leaf shapes, and even though it has nothing to do with hockey, I added them in! and I'm so glad I did!

I used my sewing machine to stitch a little bit all over the page, and also did some heat embossing with two mini sets: My Family and Traveling!

there's also some tissue paper, patterned papers and tabs behind some of the photo areas. and I used the awesome Dotted Washi Tape, which is my new favorite product ever! lol!
and I finally used that camera - SO IN LOVE WITH IT! I've been hoarding it, but I told myself to just use it! h!

so that's my page!
hope you like it, and be sure to check out the challenge here on the Altenew Scrapbook Blog!
enjoy!

you're so bow-tiful!

Hi there!
Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a cute and FUN way to make some embellishments with your brand new Sweet Stamp Shop Washi tape

Yes, bows!!! Bows are probably my FAVORITE thing to add to my scrapbook layouts, but they're cute as a little pop of color on planners, cards and paper clips! So, let's make some washi tape bows!

Here's what you'll need:

- a scrap piece of white carstock
- scissors
- pencil
- washi tape

And that's all! I know!
First, decide which two kinds of washi tape, you want to use to male your bows! Then, place strips of washi tape onto the cardstock and cut them out.

Next, you will need to do some folding. With your first strip, fold it in half,

and then fold the flaps in half again, so you have an 'M' shape:

Next, using your pencil, draw a sort of 'bottle neck' shape, and cut out along the lines.

This is the shape you'll see, once you unfold it!

Use your strongest adhesive, and tape the flaps behind the middle of the bow shape.

Then, cut one of the strips of washi thin, and fold it three times to create the little part that goes in the center of the bow, like this:

Adhere it around the center and we're in the home stretch!

At this time, you can either use another strip of either the pattern of washi to create the ribbon parts that are under the bow.
Fold your desired strip in half, and then, using your pencil again, draw a fishtail banner on the edges and another bottle neck pattern at the folded part:

Cut along the lines. And then unfold. Once it's unfolded, cut the piece in half:

All that's left to do now is to adhere each piece to the bow!
These are SOOOOO fun to make and once you get going, you can make a bunch in a short amount of time!! I'm totally addicted to making these!

What's your favorite way to use washi tape? I LOVE using strips of washi on the sides of my cards, under photos on scrapbook layouts and in my planner, too!
Be sure to head over to the Sweet Stamp Shop online store to get your hands on the ADORABLE washi while you can!
Thanks again!

Newton's Nook Designs Holiday Release Day 4 - Ornamental Newton + coordinating Die and Festive Forest + coordinating die

today is the last day for Newton's Nook Designs 2016 Holiday release!

I am not kidding when I tell you that the sets this month are AMAZING!!! I can't wait for everyone to see the whole release!
today the whole team is showing off Ornamental Newton + coordinating Die and Festive Forest + coordinating die!! These sets...I CAN'T EVEN!! the cuteness is off the charts!
you can totally use this to scrapbook, create a project life type spread, gift tags and, of course, cards! all of the new sets will be available for purchase on October 28th, right here!

i created two cards with the new Newton set, and they're similar but different! :)
the first one is in reds, and i colored my kitty with tiger-like stripes! so fun!!

again, I used Distress Markers to watecolor everything, and then used the coordinating die to cut them out! i added some glitter to the strips on the ornament for a little more festiveness!

on the background i used some embossing paste and my favorite star sentcil and then splattered it with light dots of black ink to match the bold sentiment!

my 2nd card uses the same image, but with greens and soft, beige kitty!

adorable too, right? ha!
i used some grey distress ink and my kraft mat to create the background! i simply scribbled the marker in a line, spritzed with water and pressed my cardstock on top! love the messy rectangle!

i curved the sentiment around that beautiful, big ornament, and love how that looks!

my Festive Forest cards are clean and simple and fun!

i LOVE green and black! i used Distress Markers to color directly onto the sentiment tree and then stamped it onto white cardstock! i did the same thing with the base and star of the tree! i heat embossed in black, the polka dot trees, and i LOVE that pop of black!!

the background of the the card was created with embossing paste and a striped stencil! so subtle, and so pretty!

my last card uses the scribble tree image and it's divine!

i used Twisted Citron, Mowed lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Markers! I colored directly onto the stamp and then pressed it onto the card front! i splattered the front with some black ink and then used two strips of washi on the side!

i used a gold and black washi, because i LOVE the idea of golds, greens and blacks for Christmas!
oh..cough cough...so the 'ornaments' on the tree...they started off as pearls...they're totally flat now though...so TIP people: don't run your cardstock through your die cut machine AFTER you added your pearls! ha ha!!
i totally FORGOT that i had added them, and then when i took the card front out...there they were, all flat and squished! but it's ok! easier to mail! ha!!

oh my goodness - this set is so sweet and so cute!!
i watercolored my images (again!!) with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (hey, practice makes perfect, right?! I'm practicing! lol!)

for my first card, i fussy cut out the images and popped them up onto a white cardstock base.

i added a black woodgrain washi tape strip, and a little bit of watercolored 'grass' underneath the image! ha! i LOVE that phrase from the stamp set - it's going to be getting a LOT of use! ha!

i also added some stitching to the top of my card front - it's hard to tell, because it's white on white, but i really like the detail it adds!

my second card is aso clean and simple, but it's so cute because of that hedgehog!! seriously - adorable, people!! ha!

i added some white on white texture to the card front with some embossing paste and a woodgrain stencil! love it! and that phrase people - I DIE!! ha!! so so so fun!!!!! it totally reminds me of this song, and it was in my head for DAYS! ha!! love!

the grass was created with an old punch and then I added color to the vellum grass with Distress Inks in Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio! i added a strip of yellow star washi, because I had colored the hearts in the cup yellow, but it was hard to see! and i really thought the pop of yellow worked here!

Newton's Nook Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

Hello!
Today Newton's Nook is having a super fun blog hop - all about sweet treats, mmm!! Just in time to get those Valentine's ready! :)
for my project, I created some FUN and easy heart shaped treats!

and when I say that these were easy to make, I couldn't be more truthful!
I die cut the hearts with the adorable Darling Hearts Die out of lots of fun, pink-y patterned papers! then I stamped the images from the cutest Darling Duos stamp sets onto most of them! I added just a minimal amount of coloring and shading to the images, but i really wanted them to be simple and sweet!

I stuffed the hearts with a few of the tiny M&M's you can get and then adhered them all closed with roller tape, and then also liquid glue! those little M's aren't going anywhere! lol!

I just finished off each little candy with some washi flags and that's that! easy!!
