Kristina # 24 "Thanksgiving"

We don't celebrate "Thanksgiving" in Australia and I think that is a shame. So often we take for granted everything that we have until a tragedy makes us stop and realise what we are doing.

Last Saturday, two people that we knew died suddenly in separate instances . Both were young- one 45 and the other 39. We did not know them both so well that it was heartbreaking but we knew them both well enough that it gave us quite a shock to realise that their life was over so soon and that there was no going back. I realised that I had been taking a lot of the blessings in my life for granted and that this was something that I needed to change. So this is my "Thanksgiving " card using the colours for Kristina's Challenge, the stamp set "A little bit of Happiness" and my "Butterfly Friends" Layout.

So .. how about you ??.....- Don't let it take a tragedy for you to realise how blessed you are and to be thankful for your life and the people in it that you care about -Life is a precious gift- Make every day of yours count!

Stubborn Stamper !! Triple Challenge makeover !

Despite the nice comment by Yvonne- I was , as the saying goes" Not happy Jan" with my Butterfly card and being a very stubborn stamper !! - I could not rest until I had fixed it! Amazingly enough I made up my own layout design which I liked better than the one I had CASEd !! So here it is again my triple challenge card for Lisa, Makeesha and Stamp Something - this time "inspired" by Mrs Nemo and Seattle Stamper and ....I am NOT , DEFINITELY NOT pulling it apart again !!

Triple Challenge card !!

Readers of my blog would know that I love participating in challenges- but a triple challenge??? Now that's a first!!

Firstly I must say that this card is inspired by and draws a lot from 2 beautiful cards that I found on SCS by Mrs Nemo... http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1033822?cat=12524&si=A%20little%20bit%20of%20happiness and Seattle Stamper.....

That said...here is the challenge info... Firstly it is an entry in a challenge on the new "Cardinal Stampers" blog (run by my gorgeous niece, Lisa!) (http://www.cardinalstampers.blogspot.com/) Sorry it's a bit late Lisa!! This challenge called for an entry that was watercoloured. I coloured my image with Stampin Up's Watercolour pencils blended with a blender pen.

Secondly it is another entry in this week's colour challenge at Makeesha's blog. (http://www.makeeshabyl.com.au/) colours required were Elegant Eggplant/Pretty in Pink/Soft Sky/and Whisper White.

Thirdly it is an entry in a challenge on a site I found called "Stamp Something!" (http://www.stampchallenges.blogspot.com/) My entry qualifies for this challenge because even though I have had this stamp set since the absolute beginning of my stamping "career"- I have never used it- in fact I hadn't even cut out and mounted this particular image ! (from A little bit of Happiness ...Hostess Set) I have also used the butterfly image from Sprinkles which is stamped on the pink panel with Versamark)
Apologise for the photo- My official site photographer is at work ! (He would be horrified at my effort!!)The card looks nicer in real life!!

Another Wedding card !

My kids are in their 20's - so weddings are quite a feature of our life lately ! My daughter, Laura, will be bridesmaid for her friend Emily in September. Here is a card I made for that happy occasion! It uses the cardstock colours of perfectly plum and pale plum and the stamp set "A little bit of Happiness". The image is simply embossed with silver. The sentiment is from the hostess set "So many Sayings" and is also silver embossed before being punched out with the large oval paper punch. Non SU ribbon.

Kristina's Challenge #17

As I mentioned in my last post, my parcel from Stampin Up! contained all the beautiful colours of card stock. Now I was able to do Kristina's Colour Challenge for the first time! (See my blog list to the right for the link to the "kwernerdesign" site if you don't know what this is!) I also had a beautiful new stamp set to try out too called"A little bit of Happiness"-(which you could get too as a special gift if you host a level 1 workshop.....!!!) The colours chosen by Kristina to be used this week were... Sage Shadow/RoseRed/Regal Rose and Whisper White-gorgeous colours!!...and this card is what I created with them! I am pretty happy with it-only it took me so long to make it that I missed the deadline for the challenge! Oh well, next time.....
Here's some more details...The main part of the card is Sage Shadow. The image is stamped on Whisper White. Then the flowers were coloured using Stampin Pastels and a blender pen. The printed paper is "Pallette o Prints". The large flower has been stamped on the same print, cut out and adhered over the shape on the stamped image also with a circle of regal rose in the centre. To finish off the card- 2 strips of Regal Rose- one with a scalloped edge and a tie of Purely Pomegranate double stitched ribbon. Oh! and if you would like to know more about hosting a workshop and receiving a beautiful stamp set of your own- be sure to leave a message!
