Kristina # 42!!

I used to feel kind of guilty when I CASED someone else's work as if I was somehow doing something wrong and wasn't clever enough to be able to think up my own ideas. But now I more think that you are giving someone a HUGE compliment if you like what they have done SO much that it inspires you to have a go too. I would be happy if I knew I had been able to inspire someone in this way. Besides I spend such a lot of time on the computer and have PAGES and PAGES of Faves that it seems such a shame if I never actually DO anything with them!! Mostly you end up changing features of the card anyway and "make it your own" .
So here is my first "CASED FAVE" using the beautiful colours that Kristina set for the challenge this week and the wonderful inspiration of "skdeleeuw". You can find her great card here......
I'm really happy with how this turned out and once again have been inspired by the challenge to use colours and colour combinations that I would never normally choose- Thanks Kristina!!
I think this is a great layout too and would work well with a wide variety of DSP and stamps. Maybe you would like to have a go as well? Please leave a comment and a link here if you do so we can all see your ideas!!
I used -
Stamp Set- True Friend (retired) / So many sayings Cardstock-More Mustard/Really RustDSP-Fall Flowers/Apple Cider (retired) Ribbon- Old Olive Brad- Old Olive Hemp Twine Small Oval /Word Window / Scallop Edge/ Punches (How did we ever manage before we got the scallop edge punch LOL!!)

Kristina # 29

Wish we had that gorgeous "Pacific Point" here in Oz but we don't yet so I had to make do with Brilliant Blue. The other colours are Elegant Eggplant/Pumpkin Pie/Taken with Teal and Whisper White. Ink used is Elegant Eggplant. Sentiment from Fun & Fast Notes. Ribbon is striped grosgrain in Pumpkin Pie. The vase is made from the large oval punch (with ends cut off). Flowers are made with the Spring Flower Bouquet Punch and silver brads. The "stems" of the flowers are pieces of hemp twine.

Here are the new colours for the latest challenge by Kristina. And here is the card I made with them ! The stamp set is Fun and fast Notes- I had not actually ever used the little bird stamp from this collection before and it just seemed to suit Kristina's colour combo - and a thank you card will always be useful to have on hand!

Kristina # 24 "Thanksgiving"

We don't celebrate "Thanksgiving" in Australia and I think that is a shame. So often we take for granted everything that we have until a tragedy makes us stop and realise what we are doing.
Last Saturday, two people that we knew died suddenly in separate instances . Both were young- one 45 and the other 39. We did not know them both so well that it was heartbreaking but we knew them both well enough that it gave us quite a shock to realise that their life was over so soon and that there was no going back. I realised that I had been taking a lot of the blessings in my life for granted and that this was something that I needed to change. So this is my "Thanksgiving " card using the colours for Kristina's Challenge, the stamp set "A little bit of Happiness" and my "Butterfly Friends" Layout.
So .. how about you ??.....- Don't let it take a tragedy for you to realise how blessed you are and to be thankful for your life and the people in it that you care about -Life is a precious gift- Make every day of yours count!

Kristina's Challenge # 21

Here is my card for this week's colour challenge on the Kwerner Design site - Sorry the photo turned out a bit small. The colours to use were Old Olive/Rose Red/Regal Rose and Tempting Turquoise. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out considering I almost put it in the "Too Hard Basket"!! The stamps I used are Baroque Motifs and Seasons of joy (the tiny old olive flower) The spotted paper is Pallette 'O Prints If you look closely at the sentiment you can just see a turquoise border around the words-its made with 2 turquoise cuts with the word window punch which are then layered behind the word-I learnt how to do this on Sarah Gough's site (thINKing stamps- see a link on the right) Thanks Sarah!
Postscript- Wow you've got to be quick these days to enter Kristina's challlenge- I was too late again!! Oh well I loved making the card anyway!!

Better late than never !

I loved the colours for Kristina's Colour challenge # 15 but at the time did not have a supply of cardstock in those colours! Now I do ! So , even though the time for that challenge is long gone I decided to have a go anyway. I CASED a card which I liked (which is also by woodknot (SCS)) except I put the twine to the left hand side of the card. The colours are Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa,Real Rust and Certainly Celery and the stamp set is Mostly Flowers (which I love - guess you've noticed! LOL) I also used my cropodile for the first time for the eyelets!

Kristina's Challenge #17

As I mentioned in my last post, my parcel from Stampin Up! contained all the beautiful colours of card stock. Now I was able to do Kristina's Colour Challenge for the first time! (See my blog list to the right for the link to the "kwernerdesign" site if you don't know what this is!) I also had a beautiful new stamp set to try out too called"A little bit of Happiness"-(which you could get too as a special gift if you host a level 1 workshop.....!!!) The colours chosen by Kristina to be used this week were... Sage Shadow/RoseRed/Regal Rose and Whisper White-gorgeous colours!!...and this card is what I created with them! I am pretty happy with it-only it took me so long to make it that I missed the deadline for the challenge! Oh well, next time.....
Here's some more details...The main part of the card is Sage Shadow. The image is stamped on Whisper White. Then the flowers were coloured using Stampin Pastels and a blender pen. The printed paper is "Pallette o Prints". The large flower has been stamped on the same print, cut out and adhered over the shape on the stamped image also with a circle of regal rose in the centre. To finish off the card- 2 strips of Regal Rose- one with a scalloped edge and a tie of Purely Pomegranate double stitched ribbon. Oh! and if you would like to know more about hosting a workshop and receiving a beautiful stamp set of your own- be sure to leave a message!
