The Place To Hear All National Anthems
Friday, April 04, 2008A national anthem is a generally patriotic musical composition that evokes and eulogizes the history, traditions and struggles of its people, recognized either by a country's government as the official national song, or by convention through use by the people.
AllNationalAnthems.com is a website dedicated to collect all Anthems in the world, currently collected 184 countries (yup i count em :P). The good thing about this is the Anthem comes in video format :) So you can see some footage or overview of the country while you hear the Anthem (which probably you don't understand most of them :P)
There are 2 ways you can choose a country. First is using the Yahoo!Maps above, which is easy to navigate. Just scroll around click here and there.
The other is, you go straight away to the bottom of the page, search for the specific country, and click the link ;) If you have trouble seeing those link, then if you're Firefox users or IE7+ users, just press Ctrl + on your keyboard ;)
Inside you'll then find a brief summary of the country, followed by a video of the anthem :) Nice and simple !
Scroll down a little, you'll get to know the weather, the map, and basic information such as population etc.
The data so far is quite up-to-date. The population estimate is from 2007. Which is good ^^
So far AllNationalAnthems.com have given a pretty solid value, the Anthem and some basic summary and information ;)
The only thing that needs to be add is a home link/button. Once you go in to specific country, either you browse through another country using the Yahoo!Maps, or change the url address, and pick the link again from the beginning :P
Have a try and have a nice weekend ^^
Digg-less Feed
Saturday, March 22, 2008If digg.com has 1 weakness, it has to be it's feed, for the feeds leads us to the digg page, not the page that was being dug (or is it dugg?)
There are countless of bookmarklets, add-ons, greasemonkey scripts that pretty much can handle this problem. But i wanted to be able to do it while reading my feeds. Just like a regular action when you see the news on your feed, you just have to click the link, and voila! you're there.
Lately there's a new comer floating around the web: Feeddit.
Feeddit is an improvement to the standard rss feed on Digg.com, it's longer, fatter and more awesome.
There are 100 stories long rather than the regular 40 so you’ll never miss another story.
Each feed item has the actual link so you can skip past the Digg story page and get directly to the story.
The only downside of Feeddit is that we can't configure, or choose some category ourself.
But, if you need to optimize you digg daily reading, then this one will save one click time ;)
After you've subscribed, the above screenshot is a peek of what it'll looked like. You have the same (well, almost the same) feed as usual, but with:
- Header which will bring us the page and not the digg page (which is the main feature)
- A footer that have a link to the Digg page, the Comment section, the Category, the Submitter
- And another handy feature, the mirror link ;)
If you're a hardcore digger, who reads everything, this one might save your time ;)

Some other useful links if you wanted to have a particular feeds, or maybe something that you can configure yourself, check this two out ;)

Human Anatomy Online
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Innerbody.com brought us a great site of Human Anatomy Online :) What really catch me is their motto.
To provide high quality educational content through low bandwidth Internet access to children, parents and schools worldwide.
You see that 'low bandwidth' thing ? Now that is just perfect :D Well, on a technical side, it's AJAX :D It's those thing that whenever you click something, the page is not being refreshed yet the content is updated ;)
To begin with, Human Anatomy Online have a comprehensive databases from my point of view, since i'm not a doctor or somethin' :P At least i found it that it may have hundreds of graphics, and thousands of descriptive links.
You will have 10 selections to begin with :)
After you click for example, the Skeletal section, then you will see the detail structure of the Skeletal. And to use this Human Anatomy Online tool, it's simple ;) All you have to do is point and click :D
There are dots that mark places, as you can see in the picture below, if you point to one of the dots, the definitions will show up just like a tooltip. And if you're interested in finding out what the heck is this Coracohumeral Ligament thing is ? Then just click it, and the description will be shown to you on the left area ;) All this was done without the page being refreshed ! VERY NICE !
On the right area, there are a quick list of reference if you know what you're looking for, but does not know where it is on the body :P If you point to the one that have a magnifying glass icon on it and examine carefully, each time you point to it, all the other dots will be disappeared, leaving only one dot, one animated dot, yes, animated, which makes it easy to find ;)
Overall, this Human Anatomy Online is a fun, interactive, and an ideal reference site for students or those who just want to know more about the medical descriptions used by doctors ;)
Give it a try, at least you have a glimpse of how it feels to be a doctor ;P
Oh, by the way, there's some Animation and Tutorials too ;) See if you can find it :D

Vector Magic (Beta) IS AWESOME !
Monday, October 29, 2007
Few days back, i was posting a screencast on How to Enlarge Vector Picture Easily Without Losing Quality, this is one way to be able to enlarge an image IF you DONT have the original vector image !
Vector Magic is the result of a Stanford University Artificial Intelligence Laboratory research project by James Diebel and Jacob Norda.
Vector Magic is capable of tracing images and convert to a vector file, and with a PRECISE results ! Just upload your image and Vector Image will do the converting :D
I will try to give a few Highlights of what this Vector Magic is capable of (it's still even in BETA and am already very impressed)
1. Image Classification
First thing after you upload a picture if will automagically detect your picture's type. Currently they still only have 2 types, photograph and logo. This is not 100% accurate, so be sure to double-check, after it do the detection. But it should get the choice right most of the time ;)
2. Bookmark !
This simple information is brilliant ! If you had big picture to vectorize, and you can't even see the progress bar running, usually you leave the page open. But not anymore ! Just hit Ctrl-D and do somethin' else with your browser ;P
3. Zoom and Swap Your View !
After you get the result, the only thing you can do to check whether this Vector Magic did the job right or not, is to ZOOM in the result ;) Because you can see the quality of the vector more accurately if you can ZOOM in ;) And of course you have to compare it with the original image. And the Bitmap button did was a useful button ! Just a click, then you can view the original image :D NICE !
4. Geeky Enough ?
If you're curious, then play around ;)
5. Still Not Enough ?
Learn more about Vector Magic, they have a very descriptive screencast ;)
___________________________________________
The result is very nice :) maybe because the original image is nice too :P It might not look very good here (because i scale-down the image) Try to see the real size result by clicking me :D
Bottom words, you should really give Vector Magic a try ;)

Tabs Have Never Been Easier !
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
The famous duo Alex 'Pit' La Rosa and Fabio Fidanza, the brain behind the Stripe Generator (find out more here), and introduced the TARTAN movement (find out more here) :D has done it again !
The newest addition is the Tabs Generator ! Boy, how their tag-line hit the bullseye ! Tabs Have Never Been Easier !
Although the interface is not as AMAZING as the previous stripe generator and tartan maker. The feel of easiness still there. And that is all we need ;)
Every time you change some of the value, there'll be a Refresh button to generate the new tab ;) This is good, as we don't have to wait everytime we change a value, then the picture will load again. We can just set the whole value, and hit Refresh ;) Well, maybe a minor change here and there, and Refresh again :D
________________________________________________________
Overall this is very nice tool, if you happen to need a tab fast :D There's not much can be done on tabs i think, but it will be nicer if we can have more style for the tabs (something like Button Boost done quite well), and maybe a nice gallery to show off too like in Tartan Maker ;)

Write Your Name in Arabic
Wednesday, October 03, 2007[Update 2007-10-09] The link to Efendi in Arabic is back again ;) Thanks Reem :D
A little while ago i posted about My Name in Arabic.
The site have gone through a lot of changes. Reem had a long break on providing the service for free. Then Reem decided to take a small fee in exchange for the service, which make sense for me, since Reem provided your name with a nice font with a beautiful frame, and even provided it with a .pdf .doc and .jpg :)
But now Reem is announcing that My Name in Arabic is free of charge again ;)
And the site is really is Undergoing Changes. Previously the Archive have many many names, including my own (dead link now), which is now disappear. Efendi in Arabic is up again now ^^.
I recall there are quite many of western name have been done back then, so you can always find it first. But right now, it's like going back to zero again. And am still not sure if Reem still working about this.
Meanwhile, Nomadturk left a comment, pointing out to a nice Arabic Name Generator ;) Thanks for the hint Nomadturk :)
Arabic-o-matic will the job for you, all you hafta do is enter your name, and voila ! The arabic version of your name will be prompted just as you type ;)
While the result are not in the arabic letter at all, which mean you cannot copy paste the result, but still this is quite handy if you need a free arabic name ;)
There are some notes about this though
This gadget may be used to write your name in Arabic letters, but be careful... Arabic has only three vowels, a, i and u. That's why the "i", "y" and "e" keys here just trigger the same Arabic letter. So do "u", "o" and "w".
Such contraptions cannot work very well, first because you need to know a lot of things about the sounds of the Arabic letters to cast your name into Arabic letters the right way, and second because the font is not very good.
So Reem's My Name in Arabic provides more accurate result, since Reem knows real well on how the sounds of your name is, and write it precisely on arabic letter.
You can see my name in arabic which Reem did for me إفندي (note that i can copy paste it ^^)
I think those of you who can understand Arabic will definitely choose Reem's My Name in Arabic version ;)
__________________________________________________
So, if you really need it fast and free arabic name generator, then Arabic-o-matic will do just fine while you wait for Reem to do your name ;)

Grow a World from Network Traffic
Wednesday, September 26, 2007Packet Garden captures information about how you use the internet and uses this stored information to grow a private world you can later explore.
With each day of network activity a new world can be generated, each of which are stored as tiny files for you to browse, compare and visit as time goes by. You can think of packet gardens as pages from a network diary.
Each time we use a computer and connect to the internet, there are ports that were open and sending out tiny little packets all around your network.
It can be Peer to Peer applications, Instant Messaging applications, checking an email, browsing on the web, uploading a file through FTP, or even playing games online.
All of that generates information which is used and presented with a beautiful visualization called Packet Garden.
Packet Garden was developed by Julian Oliver, originally an experimental artwork that seeks to provide an alternative and accessible approach to visualizing daily internet use. It runs on every platform that we had Windows, Linux, and even OS X computers :D
You will have a unique 3D virtual world that built to your network usage :) For example, if you download something, then it will be represented as valleys with the size matching how big the data are ;) and vice versa for uploading which represented in hills :D
For each type of traffic, you'll see a different type of plant for each type of traffic ;)
After you installed the Packet Garden, you need to capture a traffic first, and then you can grow a world :) you can load it the next time you wanted to visit this world :) if you go inside the world, you'll become a little ball :P and can move around, too bad you cannot zoom out/in :P
Anyway, if you have a decent PC, this will run pretty smooth ;)
Have a try :) it's fun :D

HTML Playground
Wednesday, September 05, 2007
HTML Playground is a nice way to present a reference ! It is an (X)HTML and CSS reference by example ;) A perfect companion for learning the YAML (X)HTML/CSS Framework ;)
HTML Playground present the reference in a nice way, they make learning fun ;)
They brilliantly give all of your need in just 5 steps
First is of course, the list of all HTML tags, which you can browse through and select one of it ;)
Back then, i always refer to Emil Stenström's Encyclopedia of HTML Elements from friendly bit, which is very simple that even an elementary school can understand ;)
_____________________________________________________
The example are made with the correct structure, complete from title to body.
There are other tags here which you can also click to learn about it ;)
And if you're not satisfied yet, you can add a style to the tag ;)
This come in an easy way !
For every tag you click, it will list all the possible style, in which you can add to the code ;)
_____________________________________________________
All of that, of course, come with the rendered Results ;)
So you don't need to fire-up and editor, save it to an html file, and then open it in your browser :P
All the hassle are gone :D
_____________________________________________________
Now, HTML Playground is sitting in my bookmark ;) This sure come handy when in needs ;) And if you're more curious, there are 3 little buttons on the Example Code area that you might wanna click on it :P
