Challenge 18- 2011 - Flourishes and Embossing

Good Afternoon All,

Congratulations to the winners of the Red Hat Challenge.....now we are on to the next one...number 18. Its my (Diane) turn again for setting the challenge, and I have chosen Flourishes and Embossing. Any Flourishes and any kind of Embossing is acceptable. You can make anything you like....card, project, scrapbook...whatever takes your fancy!

We have a great sponsor for this challenge in Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps,

Sponsor1_2stitchy
As always our sponsor has been very generous and offered a prize for the entry the design team judge to be the best. If you are lucky enough to be chosen as the best you will win a $10 coupon to choose digistamps of your choice from the Stitchy Bear Digistamps Store. The winner will also be asked if they would like to join the Design Team as a Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge.
The entrance receiving most votes from the public will also be invited to join us as a Guest Designer.
Now for some Design Team examples to get you going:-
Guest Designer Colette used the Hat Silhouette - Feather Flourish image on her gorgeous sparkly shiney bling card with real feathers!
Guest Designer: the very talented Bev G joins us again and also used the Hat Silhouette - Feather Flourish image for a different and very elegant card.

Spyder (Lyn)
I used 'Take Me Home Puppy' and some Pink Petticoat flourishy papers, which I've also embossed, but you can't see that here! And of course one of the Tim Holtz 'Elegant Flourishes' die cuts
Caro
couldn't resist turning the cute 'hang in there' image into a first day of school card for her son Alex. She used the fluorishes embossing folder from cuttlebug for both the fluorish and embossing elements and went with primary colours to fit with the school theme.

Caro also played with flight of fantasy as a one layer Birthday card for a girl. The wings are heat embossed with Hologram super sparkle and I used an Inkadinkado spotted fluorish stamp. (Sorry about the lighting, using the flash just bleached out the whole image).

I used the Blossom digi stamp, coloured with pro markers and flexi markers. Decoupaged and clear embossed ( pants picture...doesn't show it...sorry folks!) Flourish and Love cut by Gazzelle, oval mat cut by Gazzelle and edge embossed nestie style using the cuttlebug.

Cazzy used Flights of Fantasy on acetate over sparkly moon glitter card. Sizzix embossing folder with Cordinations black magic, and Sizzlet flourish dies, embossed silver card with punched corners.
Cazzy's second card uses the Parrot image, Sizzix flourishes with Prima flowers, and panel embossed with Cuttlebug folder, finally the sentiment is heat embossed with gold EP.

Challenge 17 2011 - Red Hat Society

Hi there, Cazzy here, and it is my turn to set the challenge this time round. I have been thinking up lots of quirky challenges for you, and this is no exception, I hope you like it.

The challenge is called Red Hat Society inspired by our Sponsor who has a range of stamps called The Red Hat Society, and some of the images used by the DT are from that range.

Your project must feature a hat, and that hat must be red, or there must be a predominately red feature on the hat, such as a wide hat band, or red flowers in the band. Any project can be entered, it doesn't have to be a card.

If we cannot clearly see some red showing up strongly on your hat you will not be eligible to win, and your entry might be removed, but we will tell you if we are going to do this to give you a chance to enter something else.

This time we are sponsored by the lovely people at Robyn's Fetish who supplied all the super digi images used by the Design Team.
The prize for the DT choice winner will be able to choose either 5 digi images or 4 digi images and a digi paper pack from our sponsors and will be invited to join us as Guest Designer for a future challenge. The winner of the public vote will also be invited to join us for a future challenge as Guest Designer and both will get the winners badge to proudly display on their blogs.

Here are some great examples from our design team to inspire you.

First of all guest designer Wendy used Strawberry Mouse, and he is wearing a splendid red hat to match his huge strawberry, this image is so cute!

Second guest designer Jac used Red Hat, and added a flower to the hat, and a lovely hat charm on gingham ribbon.

And our permanent team:

I couldn't resist the vintage feel of the 'bloomers' image from our sponsor and decided to turn it into a sewing themed vintage tag. For the first time ever I made my own paper flower, used tiny red buttons and a lot of red embroidery thread to finish it off.

Lyn
Red Hats! The first thing I thought of was my sister-in-law's hat at my daughter's Wedding. It was gorgeous!! So of course I just had to choose Jeanette Red Hat Gal
from our sponsor. I've 3D-ed her, coloured with Red, gold, yellow and green ProMarkers and added loads of Stickles glitter, red gems and a 'hat pin' to the bow.
What an unusual challenge....i loved the Red Hat digital stamp that was provided by our sponsor...but i wanted to do something different with it. I decided to enlarge it and turn it into a hat shaped card. The red and flowers paper were from a free digikit I downloaded ages ago from Summertime Designs. I enhanced the paper by using a glue pen and then sprinkling black glitter. The ribbon on the hat is black glitter too. Just to give the card a bit of dimension I made a rose to add to it using a file by Penny Duncan. I like it, quite sophisticated don't you know!!

Sorry, late for my own Challenge, but I am here at last. I used A Hunting We Will Go, a great image for a boy card, and the photo looks out of focus on Blogger, it wasn't before I loaded it, must be the striped vellum confusing it. Anyway I coloured the image with Promarkers, cut with Nestabilities and the squares behind it, the green vellum is attached with big snaps by We R Memory Keepers using the Cropadile to attach them. Finally a greeting from a Hero Arts set.

Now let's see what you can do. Please click on the big blue frog to enter and give us the link to your blog post with your entry, not just your blog, and please come back and vote for your favourites on Friday 26th August after 6pm, or Saturday 27th August before 5pm UK time.

ll take you to the collection where you will be able to vote. Only one vote per entry is allowed, and if you think you have voted twice don't worry it won't count them both!

Challenge 16 Winners of Lets do Numbers

Hi all, Cazzy here to tell you the news you have all been waiting for: who won challenge 16.

Lyn's challenges are always popular, and this one was no exception and with so many lovely entries it is hard to choose and how we do this is to all list our top three in order, then if we are in agreement the top one wins, if not we have a points system, courtesy of the lovely Spyder Lyn, (3 for first choice, 2 for second, 1 for third, or 4, 3, 2 ,1 if we nominate 4 each) and all the points are added up for each person nominated so the one with the highest points wins it, I bet you didn't know we did all that work before we tell you who won did you? Well - without further ado here are our winners:

The winner of the DT vote (using the system above) and the digi images is Colette with her very cute baby birthday card which is beautifully decorated inside to match. Well done Colette, help yourself to a winner's badge to proudly display on your blog and please contact me using the email link in the sidebar (note you need to click the actual link under the banner, not the banner), and I will arrange for you to receive your prize. We would also love you to join us as Guest Designer in the challenge in two weeks time if you can (or a later challenge), and will be some more free digis from the sponsor to use.

The winner of the public vote this time is Mona with her lovely fairy card again well done on winning, help yourself to a winner's badge for your  blog and contact me via the email link in the side bar if you would like to join us as Guest Designer for the challenge in two weeks time, or later, and you will also get some digis to use from our sponsor.

Have a great evening everyone and check back later for the new challenge which is going to be set by me!
