Challenge #16 of 2011 Let's do Numbers!

Evening peoples! Welcome to another Quirky Crafts Challenge! This time it's my turn (Spyder) to set the theme, and I thought we're all very busy with school holidays and vacations (and other things!) so let's have a really easy challenge this time, so for this fortnight I've chosen...
Numbers!
You can interpret that in any way you like. A shaped number card, a tag, ATC, any kind of altered art, a Scrap Book page, patterned numbered papers, images, it's up to you. We love to see any crafty project, so let your imagination go mad!
This Challenge is kindly being sponsored by
Digital Delights by Louby Loo.

The winner of the Design Team Choice will receive 3 lovely digi images of their choice from Digital Delights by Louby Loo! And both the Design Team Winner and the Public Vote Winner will also have the chance to be a Guest Designer in one of our future Challenges and the right to display our winners badge on their blog!
To give you same inspirations here's some lovely makes by our DT and of course our Guess Designer, and winner of our past Challenge. Please pop over and and say 'Hi!', we all love a visit!!

Guest Designer Sara Winter made this gorgeous shaped 1st Birthday card using
Birthday Pippin.

Lyn
"I've made a numbers birthday card using Ridley Raccoon. I've 3D-ed him and coloured him with Promarkers. You'll have to pop over to see what I've typed inside!"

"I have a friend who will never admit her age....so when Lyn chose numbers I decided to take the micky a bit. The digi stamp, Chef Luigi is one kindly supplied by our sponsor and the image was coloured with Promarkers."

Cazzy used Chef Luigi and Kiss the Cook sentiment with Celebrate its your Birthday sentiments from our Sponsor, and added 50 to the top of Luigi's cake.

"When Lyn chose this theme I knew I just had to take the opportunity to scrapbook my son's 4th Birthday party from earlier this year. I used the 'Celebrate it is your birthday' and 'Birthday Ridley Raccoon' from our sponsors, coloured with Promarkers and added as embellishments to the page."
Well done everyone!! Now it's your turn, looking forward to seeing your creations! Don't forget to pop back Friday or Saturday, August 12th & 13th to vote for your favourites!!

Oh and by the way if you can't vote on this post you need to click on the big lovely Mr Blue Froggy just below this and it will take you to the collection where you will be able to vote. Only one vote per entry is allowed, and if you think you have voted twice don't worry it won't count them both!

Quirky Challenge #15 2011 - Very Puzzling (Cazzy)

Hi everyone, and Welcome Back, it is challenge time again and I thought of a really quirky crazy challenge to get your creative juices going!

My challenge is called "Very Puzzling" and I want to see puzzles, real jigsaw puzzle pieces, or punched or die cut ones, or even inchie puzzles will qualify for the prize, please note inchie puzzles must form a bigger image and not be independent inchie images if you see what I mean. (See what our GDT did, if you don't). You can make any project you like, altered jigsaw pieces, ATCs, cards, boxes, jewellery - anything that fits the Very Puzzling theme!

We had lots of lovely entries last time, I hope lots of you will join in this time too.

This week our lovely sponsors are: The Stamping Boutique

, and the prize is 5 digi images of the winner's choice, how cool is that! The Stamping Boutique have just introduced a one day per week where everything in the store is one buck, so check it out and get a bargain!

and the gorgeous Crafty Ribbons
Who are providing us with a lovely prize - Summer Ribbons.

Now as we have two sponsors there will be two winners; one will be the DT choice and one will be the public voted winner. If those happen to be the same person then the DT will pick a second choice. Both winners will also have the chance to be on the Design Team as guest designers for the next or a future challenge and there will be some free digi images for DT members to use. I would like you to add CR for Crafty Ribbons or SB for the Stamping Boutique after your name so we know which prize you prefer (if you don't add this we will assume you like both prizes), and if you are chosen as DT winner you will get first reserve if both winners choose the same prize.

So without further ado here are some examples by the Design Team to get you going:

First Guest Designer Tammy Louise with her lovely inchie puzzle card. Tammy used Cynthia's New Wings digi image from The Stamping Boutique.

Second Guest Designer this time is Katrin who used Hidden for her gorgeous card featuring an inchie puzzle.

Caro decided to alter two small puzzle pieces using images from our sponsor. I first painted the pieces, then stamped a background onto each one, then printed, coloured and cut out the images and then added writing, gems and drawing. The coin in this photo is a 5p to give you an idea of scale (Close ups are on her blog).

Diane used the candy shop image from our sponsor to make a very clever jigsaw card.

Lyn has made an easel card and has also used The Candy Shop digi from our sponsors for her 3D Puzzle card

Cazzy altered a very large jigsaw piece, and used the Tree of Circles image (twice) from The Stamping Boutique.

Quirky Challenge #14: No patterned papers (make your own)

Welcome back to Quirky Crafts challenges! Can you believe it is July already! Our sponsor for our 14th Challenge of the year is STITCHY BEAR DIGITAL STAMPS
The Winner of The Design Team Choice will win a $10 voucher from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps so you can choose something from the great range of images and papers, which you'll find in their store. We'd also love you to join us as a Guest Designer in one of our future challenges. The winner of the Public Vote will also be invited to join us as a Guest Designer .
Challenge 14: No patterned papers (make your own background papers)
It is my turn (Caro) to set the challenge this week and as I just love messing round with inks and stamps I thought I would set you a challenge to make your own background papers. This means that you are NOT allowed to use any shop bought or computer generated patterned papers. Your own background papers can be as simple as dry embossed plain card or made using inks, stamps, paints, a mosaic of other plain papers, or anything else you can think of! We look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Don't forget, we love to see all your cards but we also accept anything crafty as long as it fits into the current challenge. That includes ATC's, Altered Art, Fat Pages, Scrap Book Pages, Magic boxes, Tags, Book Marks, in fact anything crafty you can think of!
Here is inspiration from the DT and GD for you to enjoy, all using digital images from our sponsor.
Guest Designer Claire Easson used the Camellia in Watering Can image. Claire said "I've made the background using Tattered Rose distress ink, on an Impression Obsession cover-a-card background stamp (Damask). I embossed it with clear powder and then went over the edges with some Old Paper distress ink." See more details of this very pretty card on Claire's blog.

Guest Designer Lori made this stunning card using Flower Fantasy. Lori said "I used the Stampin up swirl wheel stamp in Versamark and embossed it with iridescent ice embossing powder".

Leah the Orange also used the Floral Fantasy image for her stunning card. Leah said, "it's coloured with Prismacolor Pencils and the background is stamped with pale green chalk ink."

Caro: I made a tag using colourwash inks and glimmer mist for the coloured background which she stamped over with small silhouette stamps and then added the 'Guarding the egg' image from our sponsor, which she left uncoloured for contrast.

Caro: I also made a bookmark using distress inks (antique linen, tea dye and walnut stain) and stamps for the background and then layered the ink pot and quill from the 'Just a note' image from our sponsor, which she coloured using promarkers.

Diane has decided to go with an embossed background using a cuttlebug folder. The Iris digistamp is from our sponsor and she has coloured it with inktense pencils and a waterbrush. Some organza ribbon, mirri card and sticky gems complete the card.

Lyn used 'The Big One' Digi from our sponsors, a Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder, Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distressed ink, some faux stitching, and used a stencil to make some clear embossing on the green card.

Cazzy used Butterfly Love and made her background using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and Whitewash Cordination paper sanded lightly to reveal the darker green underneath. The image is coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue applied to the wings.

Rules for entering our challenges are in the side bar and we reserve the right to remove any links that don't follow the rules, although we will tell you so you can enter something else. Just a reminder that our challenges go live on Sunday evening and close on the next Friday but one, so this challenge is open until Friday 15th July. Please pop back then to vote for your favourite cards. Voting remains open until the end of Saturday 16th July. Have fun and we look forward to seeing your home made background papers.

Challenge 13: Lyn's recipe winners!

Welcome all! It is nearly challenge time again here on Quirky Crafts!! Thank you to all who entered into Lyn's recipe challenge. It seemed to be a popular one with you all with so much variety in the interpretations making it really difficult for the design team to choose their favourite. In the end after much debate the design team favourite and the winner of the yummy selection of strawberry ribbons from Crafty Ribbons is Katinka with this fantastic card!

The winner of the public vote and choice of either 5 Robyn's Fetish digital stamps or 4 digital stamps and 1 digital paper set is Tammy Louise with this great card!
Congratulations to both of you! We would love you both to join us at Guest Designers. Please e-mail Cazzy (link is in the side bar) to arrange your prizes and to join us as a Guest Designer in the future. Also please take a Quirky Winners Banner to place on your side bar with a link back to us!!
