Good Day Sunshine
Quincy's first Porchfest was a huge success with great music and neighborliness. Chief Noda, from Brockton, Ma., serenaded folks with his unique finger picking guitar style of Beatles music and a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace. He played on the stone "porch" of the Wollaston Congregational Church.

Winter Blossoms
The wet snow from yesterday stuck to vegetation like glue. Wollaston Congregational Church is the backdrop for this young cherry tree.

On The Lam
This white dove showed up at a Park Street bird feeder a few days ago. It has a blue band and is obviously someone's pet. Anyone you know missing a dove?

Let It Snow!
Quincy got two to three feet of snow in last week's storm. Schools were closed for 4 days. It looks like we need to make room for some more magic white crystals! Ahh, New England winter . . . presents new photo opportunities. Happy Monochrome Monday!

Thursday is "This Old House" Day
This 1887 classic single-family residence, with a fantastic wrap-around-porch, is located at 87 Grand View Avenue. It sold last January for $350,000. Workers have been very busy giving it a complete makeover to ready it for a "flip." After getting much needed TLC, it is on the market today for $799,000. Click HERE to see the before ... you'll barely recognize it.

Stairway Challenge
The stairway to this house of worship is a challenge to climb. The large stone slabs have been removed, labeled and set aside in this early stage of the stair restoration project at Wollaston Congregational Church. The project was made possible through a city preservation grant.

Thursday is "This Old House" Day
This 11 room Queen Anne on Lincoln Ave. was sold last October and is slowly being renovated. What a great porch to hang out on. I wonder if the new owners will put back the balustrades on the second level above the wrap-around porch. Those big square windows are early picture windows.

This 1910 house at 99 South Central is sitting pretty in its spring setting. I like the Quincy granite wall and walkway just visible in the foreground.

The Hills Were Alive . . .
The sounds of Handel and Bach were heard Sunday, on Wollaston Hill, at a special Christmas concert called "Music On The Hill" held at the Wollaston Congregational Church. The icy conditions outside melted to the soothing sounds of chamber music inside.

Thursday is "This Old House" Day
This 1880 house on Marion Street has some wonderful light entering through all the windows in the turret. Now that the foliage is gone, conditions are better for photographing some houses. Now if only the blue sky would return.

Thursday is "This Old House" Day
According to the city records, this house was built in 1935. I have been told that it is actually a converted stable that was used for one of the mansions located behind it on Grandview Avenue. You can see remnants of granite steps leading up to the former stable. This would be a real interesting property to research.
