Churned Up

Happy Skywatch Friday from 1500 miles south!  The Atlantic coastal waters have certainly been churned up lately depositing all sorts of treasures on beaches.  Pictured in the foreground is a Portuguese Man O' War.

Thursday Is "This Old House Day"

This single family house at 75 Russell Street in the Atlantic section of Quincy, was built in 1890.  There are lots of windows used in this house design which must allow some gorgeous light inside.  If you look down the driveway you will notice a side portico.  The columns used in the side entrance are similar to the ones on the front porch which makes me think that the portico is part of the original design.

Thursday is "This Old House Day"

This Late Queen Anne style house at 87 Walker Street was difficult to photograph because of the trees and wires encroaching on it. It has a beautiful porch (my favorite feature).

Thursday is "This Old House Day"

Today's house is located in the Atlantic section. Some of Quincy's oldest houses are located here along with turn-of-the-century period residences like this one.

Thursday is "This Old House Day"

This house at 30 Williams Street, built in 1890, is listed as a 4-family. It is located one block from Wollaston Beach in the Atlantic section. I like the graceful gambrel roof lines. It must have been a beautiful beachside residence in its day. Removal of the chain-link fence would improve it's curb appeal.

Thursday is "This Old House Day"

The records show that this house was built in 1920. The conical tower looks more in keeping with an 1880s style. I have seen the arch treatment on this porch in a previous house I posted(click here) I like the open porch better then the glassed in one. This house is located in the Atlantic neighborhood.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
