Josh Black Threatens Obama With Hanging

Republican Josh Black is running for the Florida House of Representatives. Black thought a good way to show his seriousness to public service is by threatening President Barack Obama with hanging on Twitter.

I am no fan of Chris Latvala. However, I am glad that another Republican called Black out for his crazy talk.

@JoshuaBlack2014 you aren't seriously calling for the killing of Obama are you? I know you are crazy but good heavens.U R an embarrassment

Black continued to double down with his talk of hanging the President.

@ChrisLatvala I don't do drugs. Not intimidated by the secret service, or criminalpoliticians like you.

Black is saying on social media he made his tweet to hang the President of sound mind and body. Black is also publicly challenging the Secret Service. This man is nuts.

Black posts on Facebook that he stands by his tweet.

"I make no apologies for saying that the President is not above the People. If ordinary Americans should be executed for treason, so should he."

The Pinellas GOP is wisely not providing cover for Black. Black already was a candidate without GOP establishment support. Black is done as a candidate. Good riddance.

Quote of the Day: Rick Santorum

"I believe and I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created - in the sense of rape - but nevertheless a gift in a broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given you. As you know, we have to, in lots of different aspects of our life. We have horrible things happen. I can't think of anything more horrible. But, nevertheless, we have to make the best out of a bad situation."

Rick Santorum

Santorum actually believes women are receiving a gift by being raped and impregnated by their attacker. In Santorum's world being raped is something women should put on their Amazon.com wishlist. Santorum then tells condescendingly tells women to tough it out and carry the fetus to birth. This man is insufferable.

Reactions from the feminist blogosphere.

Jill Filipovic

The thing is, we don't just "accept what God has given us" in a whole lot of circumstances. Like when God gives us cancer. Or when God gives us problems with a wanted pregnancy. We try to counteract the things that are physically or psychologically harmful to us, or things that we don't want to happen. And plenty of women do choose to give birth when they're impregnated by rape - that's a totally valid choice. But it's not one that should be forced on any woman, rape or no rape.

Robin Marty

Most candidates, when questioned on whether they could honestly force their family members to carry a pregnancy to term after rape, will at the very least hem and haw a little over the issue.

But not former Pennsylvanna Senator Rick Santorum. He says the baby is still a gift, and he would council his daughters to believe the same.

If you think Santorum has an empathy problem then you aren't the only one. Amanda Marcotte notes that Santorum has spent his career trying to deny the medical rights that saved his wife's life.

Most of us, when we suffer from a traumatic situation, find that it increases our empathy with others in similar circumstances, and many of us are driven to become activists fighting to make life easier for people in similiar situations. But for Rick Santorum, trauma drove him in the other direction: It decreased his empathy for others in similiar situations, and caused him to want to increase their pain and suffering. That's the lesson to be drawn from a profile of Santorum in the New York Times, which explains that after his wife Karen, got sick at 20 weeks of pregnancy and was spared the the spontaneous abortion/early delivery (the distinction is more cultural than biological), Santorum got busy making sure other couples in the same situation could never have the options and speedy medical care that helped saved Karen's life.

Santorum has no problem allowing women to die to please his religious worldview. No wonder Santorum views rape as a minor nuisance to women.

Wingnut of the Day: Judge Michael Malihi

Via Gottalaff: Georgia Duputy Chief Judge Michael Malihi has ordered President Barack Obama to appear in court. Malihi wants the president present at a hearing. At issue is the citizenship of Barack Obama. A complaint has been filed to take the president off the Georgia ballot.

Courts have repeatedly struck down the birther claims. Maihi has plenty of legal ruling to use. President Obama even held a press conference to show his long form birth certificate. I could go on and on about how this is utter nonsense

I guarantee that Glenn Reynolds and Michelle Malkin won't write posts about Malihi being an activist judge. That is because Reynolds and Malkin see the world with partisan blinders.

Wingnut of the Day

Next time the Right-wing media cries about liberal media bias, remember Les Kinsolving of World Net Daily asking White House Press Secretary Jay Carney the repeal of DADT legalizes bestiality. This is the utter conspiracy nonsense that WWD thrives in. Remember that this web site contends that President Barack Obama is not an American citizen. Jake Tapper and other members of the media are literally laughing at the stupidity of the question.

[MR. CARNEY]: Let’s go to the back. Lester.

Kinsolving: Oh, my goodness.

MR. CARNEY: Can you believe it? (Laughter.) I’m in the holiday spirit.

Kinsolving: In the holiday spirit. The family research –

MR. CARNEY: Is everyone okay? (Laughter.)

Kinsolving: The Family Research Council and CNS News both reported a 93-to-7 U.S. Senate vote to approve a defense authorization bill that, quote, “includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, but also repeals the military ban on sex with animals, or bestiality.” Does the Commander-in-Chief approve or disapprove of bestiality in our armed forces?

MR. CARNEY: I don’t have any comment on — I don’t have any comment on that.
Let me go to another question.

Kinsolving: Does the President believe this will be approved by all animal support groups, such as –

MR. CARNEY: Let’s get to something more serious. Yes, Jake.

Jake Tapper: You sure you don’t want to ask Lester another question? Give him another opportunity? (Laughter.)

MR. CARNEY: I’ve learned my lesson, Jake. (Laughter.)

Tapper: Just one –

MR. CARNEY: Lester, I think we’ll — we’ll let everybody get a chance here. Go ahead, Jake.

Tapper: Are you sure you don’t want to take any more questions on bestiality? (Laughter.) You don’t want to comment on that?

To show just how ridiculous Kinsolving is, here is video of him asking former Press Sec. Robert Gibbs a birther question.

The Foreign Policy Worldview of Glenn Reynolds

I am sure people read Glenn Reynolds' blog InstuPundit for nuanced punditry on foreign policy.

Glenn Reynolds, Sept, 11, 2001

GEORGE BUSH IS NOW THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD: People always say that about Presidents, of course, but usually it's only notionally true. Now, if he wants to nuke Baghdad, there is nobody to say him nay -- and damned few who would want to. That's a danger if he goes off half-cocked, but I don't think there's much risk of that. But I wonder: do the people behind this assault realize what this means?

Glenn Reynolds, November 23, 2010

North Korea fires artillery barrage on South. If they start anything, I say nuke ‘em. And not with just a few bombs. They’ve caused enough trouble — and it would be a useful lesson for Iran, too. We can’t afford another Korean war, but hey, we’re already dismantling warheads. . . .

As we can see, Reysnolds' foreign policy evolved in nine years from nuking Iraq to nuking North Korea. In Reynolds' defense, he is an idiot.

Hat tip to Glenn Greenwald.

Quote of the Day

"This should not be a shock to anyone. Obama is a socialist who hates America. He wants to see America in economic collapse. Only if the economy is wrecked and America’s power destroyed can he and his socialist cronies replace the greatest economic system in the world with a failed system."

Judson Phillips, Tea Party Nation founder and conspiracy theorist.

Phillips actually believes Obama has a secret agenda to wreck the country, so Americans would be forced into socialism. I like to hear Phillips thoughts on President George W. Bush's Medicaid Advantage and economic policies. I would love to hear how Bush posting negative job gains during his entire administration was not leading us on the way to socialism. We have seen an increase of people collecting food stamps and unemployment because of Bush's failed policies.

I do not think Bush is a socialist. However, I can make a coherent that Bush is a socialist. Phillips' punditry has the sophistication of a 12-years-old child having a temper tantrum.

Meet Marg Baker

Republican Marg Baker is running for Florida House district 48. In front of a group of Tea Partiers, Baker advocates placing illegal immigrants in internment camps. Apparently, Baker actually took Michele Malkin's historically inaccuracte book "In Defense of Internment."

Baker's last comment: "We got to have guns."

Baker is like the nice old grandmother living on your block that you later find out is a serial killer.

Andrew Breitbart's Hysterical Conspiracy Theory

Digraced conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart when on CNN brought an imposter to play Eloise Spooner; the wife of the farmer Shirley Sherrod helped.

BREITBART: If it is the case and it can be shown to me that the incident she is talking about was done many years ago... in her current context. As a reporter, you tell me how you confirmed that the incident she is talking about was 24 years ago. You tell me as a reporter how CNN put on a person today who purported to be the farmer's wife. What did you do to find out whether or not that was the actual farmer's wife.

If there is anyone that knows investigative reporting it is Andrew Breitbart.

Getting a lecture on journalism from Andrew Breitbart is the equivalent of Tiger Woods giving a sanctimonious on the virtues on abstinence. It is not an accident one of the labels for this post is humor.

Sharron Angle: No Exceptions on Abortion

Sharron Angle did an interview with conservative talk show host David Manders. Angle told Manders would not allow a woman to have an abortion; including in cases of rape and incest. Angle believes rape and incest is part of God's plan.

MANDERS: Is there any reason at all for an abortion?

ANGLE: Not in my book.

MANDERS: So, in other words, rape and incest would not be something?

ANGLE: You know, I’m a Christian, and I believe that God has a plan and a purpose for each one of our lives and that he can intercede in all kinds of situations and we need to have a little faith in many things.

Angle called the unemployed "spoiled." She supports deregulation of the oil industry. Angle also floated the idea that voters will use "Second Amendment remedies" if Congress doesn't change.

Angle reffered to Social Security as "welfare."

Calling Angle's views out of the mainstream would be a massive understatement.

Update: Rachel Maddow has a rundown of Angle's crazy policy positions. Maddow lists that Angle wants to abolish the EPA, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy and eliminate Medicare. I encourage Angle to tell voters of her opposition to Medicare. Let's see how well that goes over.

Why I Love Conservative On Twitter

Arizona State Rep. Cecil Ash (R) posted this comedy masterpiece on his Twitter page. Ash voted for the birther bill that would require all presidential candidates to provide their birth certificate to Arizona.

Ash appeared on Anderson Cooper's show to defend his vote. Ash maintains he voted for the bill because his constituents are concerned about the internet conspiracy theories about President Obama's citizenship. If that is to be taken at face value: then Ash shows a lack of intellectual curiosity and lack of seriousness in governing.

A mind-boggling exchange between Cooper and Ash.

Cooper: So why vote for something which perpetuates these false Internet rumors?

Ash: Well Anderson I think there’s been a lot of controversy over the issue. It’s created a division among a lot of people in the United States and for better or worse many people don’t believe he’s a U.S. citizen. They believe he has loyalties… ah… divided loyalties I suppose you could say.

Cooper: But those people are wrong. He is a U.S. citizen.

Ash: Well, you’re telling me that he’s wrong. I’ve never investigated that. If he is then he has nothing to fear.

Cooper: But I mean, the information is out there. It has been released. It has been shown. There are some people who don’t believe it, but there are also some people who believe that the moon is made out of cheese and you can say you’ve never investigated it but I think you would probably say to them the moon is not made out of cheese.

Ash: Well, I certainly would but the reason I spoke up on this bill is simply because there is a lot of division in the country and I believe this would put an end to any future controversy about a President’s qualifications.

Cooper: You told our producer you voted for this because you get a lot of calls from constituents who have questions based on things they read on the Internet. I mean isn’t it your job as a leader to actually lead; to not just throw up your hands and say well who knows what’s real or not on the Internet, to actually say well, actually Hawaii has released this information and it’s factually correct?

Ash: Well as I said I haven’t personally investigated that but I think that if…

Cooper: But I mean there’s plenty of things you believe that are not personally investigated? Why this you’re holding on to?

I don't believe Ash is stupid enough to deny that Obama was born in the United States. Ash takes pains to say to say that Obama was born in the United States. Ash then proceeds to cast doubt on Obama's citizenship.

Cooper informed Ash that Obama's birth certificate is on the internet. Ash responded, "You can't believe everything you see on the internet." Ash also said, "Many people don’t believe he’s a U.S. citizen." The current Republican Party panders to the worse factions of America. Cecil Ash is the latest example of this practice.

Beck's Wingnut Theories Boomerang Back to Fox

Glenn Beck labels General Electric (owner of MSNBC) as a fascist group bent on controlling America. Beck replaced the stars of the American flag and with the logos of ACORN, SCIU, General Electric, Wall-Mart, GM and Citi-Bank.

"You know, SCIU and GE are big on designing the whole health care bill," Beck told John Stossel. General Electric is a technological company best known for making refrigerators. GE Healthcare makes medical equipment. Sen. Max Baucus floated the possibility of taxing medical equipment. General Electric has good reason to be against health care reform. Nevermind the fact Beck provides no proof of his General Electric conspiracy theory. The truth is GE is hardly socialist. As Megan Carpentier points out: GE continued to advertise on Beck's show after other companies fled.

In 2009, General Electric, Farmer’s Insurance and Office Depot have financially supported Glenn Beck’s racism and threats against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the radio; Bayer, Chattem Pharmaceuticals and Wyeth have given Lou Dobbs money to continue his radio-based support for the Birther conspiracy theorists and his portrayal of the current Administration as alternately Socialist, Fascist and Communist; and Home Depot, JC Penney’s and Office Depot are helping provide Rush Limbaugh promote his racist, divisive commentary on a daily basis.

On another hysterical episode of Beck's program, the shock jock explains the Rockefeller family put secret socialist/communist imagery in the Rockefeller Center. A check of Google Maps shows Fox News is located in Rockefeller Center. The News Corporation/Fox News Channel headquarters is located in a building owned by the Rockefeller Group. We are to believe that Beck is protecting America from News Corp's landlord. Beck is so frightened by GE that he will let them run ads on his program. The other possibility is Beck needs bogus villians to portray himself as a coked up knight. Beck will use the flimsiest on connections to make conspiracy theories.

In professional wrestling, there needs to be heroes and villians. Beck needs mock bad guys because he isn't paid to give wonky speeches about policy. The question is why is News Corp letting Beck go after corporate partners. People wonder why Beck is losing advertisers. This is why.

Erick Erickson Quote Machine

Erick Erickson has a history of making extremist quotes. Erickson can not make a coherent argument. On Bloggingheads.tv, Erickson defended waterboarding as not torture by describing the interrogation procedure as torture.

"See, I actually don't think waterboarding is torture. I understand McCain's postion on that. I don't think it is. I don't think it puts their life in jeopardy when they're tortured."

Erickson wrote the Left is is working with terrorists to harm America.

We must not allow the left, working on behalf of our enemies, to lead Barack Obama down this most dangerous road. The best way to stop that is for the current President to deny any ability to prosecute American heros who have kept us safe for eight years.

Erickson isn't a patriot. He is an angry man with a laptop. Erickson wrote, "I’d be cleaning my gun right about now," because Spokane County, Washington banned phosphates from dishwasher detergent.

"At what point do the people tell the politicians to go to hell?" Erickson wrote. "At what point do they get off the couch, march down to their state legislator’s house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?"

At what point does Erickson seek help for his anger management issues. Erickson fired off his lates temper tantrum on Twitter.

"Linda Douglass really is the Joseph Goebbels of the White House Health Care shop:"

Linda Douglass is the communications director for the Office Office of Health Reform. Erickson sees nothing wrong with comparing Douglass to a the racist propanda of Goebbels. Erickson refered to President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize win as "an affirmative action quota." Erickson also defended the racist song "Barack the Magic Negro." The defense is it is not an attack on Barack Obama, but Al Sharpton. Nevermind the song is titled "Barack the Magic Negro", or that Sharpton is black. Ditto for Erickson's defense of Obama's image photoshopped as the Joker. Erickson couldn't give a rat's ass about racial tolerance. He would never have compared Douglass to Goebbels if he was racially sensitive. Erickson is a racist whom does not have the intelligence to make success policy arguments. So, Erickson resorts to demonizing his political enemies. Voters should know that Republicans (such as Marco Rubio) pander to this angry little man.

9/12 Project Targets Hillborough County School Board

The Glenn Beck group the 9/12 Project sent out this email to Hillsborough County tea baggers.

"Troubling are statements such as 'Teachers can build background knowledge about the president by reading books about Barack Obama.'… One would expect this type of indoctrination from teachers of the 'Young Pioneers' of the old Soviet Union, but not in 2009 in Hillsborough County!" the e-mail reads.

The 9/12 Project is urging tea baggers to storm tonight's townhall meeting at Hillsborough High School at 7:00 PM. The source of ire is President Barack Obama visit to Tampa talk to school children at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. Somehow the 9/12 Project finds it offensive that teachers would have students read books about the current President. I find it offensive Beck used the 9/11 tragedy to market his 9/12 madness. Obama talking to children has nothing to do with the worse terrorist attack to take place on U.S. soil.

There is nothing offensive about a Republican or Democratic president speaking to children. It is a good opportunity for children to learn about the political process. The 9/12 Project and tea baggers aren't interested in protesting policies based on wonky matters. They don't like Obama and they are going to scream their heads off at every townhall meetings. And Glenn Beck makes $18 million-a-year.

Image created by the Gen. JC Christian

Image created by the Gen. JC Christian

Update: there is no school board townhall meeting tonight.

Update: RPoF Chairman Jim Greer couldn't resist the opportunity to put his foot in his mouth.

"As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology,” Jim Greer, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida writes in response in a press release, “The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power.”

The Chairman said that the President has turned to America’s children to “spread his liberal lies” by “indoctrinating American’s youngest children before they have a chance to decide for themselves.

Greer says that while he supports educating the nations’ children and respects the office of the American President he does “not support using our children as tools to spread liberal propaganda,” when it “the youngest children in our public school system to agree with our President's initiatives or be ostracized by their teachers and classmates.”

Greer accuses Obama propaganda. Would he dare say this about the factually-challenged Fox News or Weekly Standard? Of course not. Obama is indoctrinanting children in socialist ideology? Obama's speech is not going to become a master's program polical science class on the socialist revolution. Kids would fall to sleep listening to a real lecture on socialism.

If Greer really respected the Office of the President he wouldn't spend so much time pandering to tea baggers. Greer blew his conservative credentials by supporting his friend Charlie Crist in the Senate race. The conservative base created the Facebook group Recall Jim Greer. The group's description is priceless.

Greer has disgraced his title and the party through his gross abuse and misuse of the party's treasury for personal lavish expenses, his transformation of the once-respected organization into nothing more than a Charlie Crist fan club, and equating Florida's first Cuban-American speaker of the House to a "fringe" candidate by pushing for the exemption of a rule that prevents it from endorsing one candidate over the other in a primary.

Jim Greer has become an embarrassment and a liability for Florida Republican elected officials, candidates, and the party organization. His actions have earned the party negative press and have endangered its fundraising ability. Party leaders should remove him immediately and be clear that the Florida Republican Party is not a Chicago-style party boss machine bent on promoting one politician's career, but rather an organization that represents all Florida Republicans and key fundamental principles that are not up for compromise or negotiation.

Those RPoF American Express cards showed real fiscal conservatism. And yes, that was snark.

Randy Terry Kicked Out of Townhall Meeting

Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry was kicked out of Representative Jim Moran and Howard Dean. Moran gave Terry the chance to have a civil discussion. Terry declined.

Citizen journalists at the event reported that Congressman Moran incited the crowd further when he suggested there were some people in attendance who don't live in his district and had come only to disrupt the meeting. As Salon reports, Moran first singled out the instigator, demanding that Randall leave the town hall, "but then reconsidered, offering him the chance to ask the first question as long as he ended his protest and kept the question short enough that other people would still have their chance."

Terry declined. Instead he was escorted from the building as he continued to accuse Dean of murdering babies.

Terry and followers chanted "You Are A Baby Killer" and "We Won't Pay For Murder." House Republicans and Democrats have gone to pains to omit abortion from HR 3200. In the video, Terry tells a reporter the health care reform bill will fund abortion. Not true. From a pro-choice policy standpoint: I wish abortion was in HR 3200.

Listen to the crowd chant "Kick Them Out" to Terry's party. Terry manages to alienate liberals and conservatives. TErry will never understand being shrill will not help him win.

Why I Supported Obama in 2008

Zo titled is Youtube video "BTW I'm Voting For Mccain / Palin." He proceeds to list reasons he doesn't like Democrats. Zo states conspiracy theories about Democrats wanting to place people on welfare to increase their voting base. Zo tells viewers Democrats run the school system to keep people on "the plantation." The one thing Zo fails to do is articulate why he voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Zo hysterically says no conservative wanted to impeach Bill Clinton for infidelity. Zo claims conservatives wanted Clinton impeached for commiting perjury in court. Clinton never appeared in court in matters relating to Monica Lewinsky. The President gave told Ken Starr, in a deposition, "I have never had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky." It is easy to see why Zo believes conspiracy theories. He doesn't bother to learn the details.

I wanted Barack Obama to be President because we needed competent leadership. I wanted a leader that would America feel good about itself and improve it's standing on the world stage. It is time for America to be a world leader and not a punchline.

I wanted a foreign policy that was based on responsible decision making. Obama appointed experienced professionals. The world is a complicated and dangerous place. Obama appointed strong-minded people that won't be afraid to offer their opinions. Hillary Clinton and George Mitchell aren't there to make the President feel good about himself.

I wanted economic sanity. Obama has taken bold risks with the stimulus package and TARP. We are slowly starting to see banks repay loans and federal projects have been fast tracked.

America needs health care reform. All American should have a basic human right to health care. Too many Americans are uninsured. Emergency room visits increase medical costs. Obama is correct that more prevented care is needed.

We need a President that can articulate his vision and not talk down to the American public. America desperately needed the lofty language Obama supplied. For far too long we heard mindless talking points. The people will listen if inspired and treated with respect.

That is why I supporteed Obama. I know Zo voted against Obama. I have no idea why he supported McCain. I'm not sure if he knows.

Wingnut of the Day

Rep. Steve King is the only member of Congress to vote against a resolution thanking black slaves for building the nation's capital. King's press release explains he opposed to resolutions based on Democrats would not allow a a depiction of the words ""In God We Trust" in the Capitol Visitors Center. Democrats may have resisted King's religious grandstanding because to courts have repeatably declared religious displays in federal buildings unconstitutional. The real hint is how King says "I opposed yet another bill to erect another monument to slavery." I wasn't aware there was an overabundance of slavery monuments. I guarantee there aren't as many slave monuments as there is Christian churches in this country.

"This is just the latest example of a several year effort by liberals in Congress to scrub references to America's Christian heritage from our nation's Capitol. Liberals want to amend our country's history to eradicate the role of Christianity in America and chisel references to God or faith from our historical buildings.

"Our Judeo-Christian heritage is an essential foundation stone of our great nation and should not be held hostage to yet another effort to place guilt on future Americans for the sins of some of their ancestors. Christian abolitionists gave their lives by the hundreds of thousands to end slavery. Great American leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worshiped God just as our Founding Fathers did. We must never forget this important aspect of our heritage or use it as a political bargaining chip."

The only member of Congress to vote against the resolution. Remember that.

Quote of the Day

"LMRM: The nation loses the only goat fucking child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court in David Souter's retirement."

Erick Erickson, on the retirement of Supreme Court Justice David Souter.

This is the same Erickson that was ready to go into a gun-toting rage. What earned Erickson's rage was a ban on sales of dish washing detergent with heavy contents of phosphate in Spokane County, Washington. Erickson would rather a dangerous product be on the market than have a government recall.

Wingnut of the Day: Charlie Van Zant

I just confirmed Florida House Rep. Charlie Van Zant made these comments in favor of HB 1219.

"God created the oil and will create more once we pump what is there."

"If we don't drill, the China, Argentina, and Cuba will so they can fund terrorists."

"Drilling will provide more money to Florida than tourism."

Oil is a finite organic sources. Oil comes from dead dinosaurs, the fat of remains and plankton. Living entities have to die to create more oil. We can't just magically make it.
