Andrew Breitbart lackey Jason Mattera grills a Bono impersonator. Mattera complains about the liberal media. If Mattera was an actual journalist and not a partisan hack, he would have realized he did an ambush interview on someone who actually isn't Bono. Breitbart.com editor Joel Pollack refused to admit to NY Magazine that they interviewed a fake Bono.
"We went through a vetting process on this and appropiate questions were raised and appropiate answers were given," Breitbart.com editor Joel Pollack assured us by phone. "But the videographer then asked us to take it down, so we did." But Pollack said he would neither "confirm or deny" that mistaken identity was the reason for the scrubbing.
I would love to sit in on a Breitbart.com editorial meeting to find out what the vetting process is. It surely doesn't involve posting corrections on the Breitbart.com web site. I look forward to future posts at Breitbart.com about how the liberal media doesn't fact-check.
Andrew Breitbart is famous for having bizarre public temper tantrums. In Wisconson, Breitbart told union members to "go to hell," repeatedly. Repeating insults is Breitbart's stock-in-trade.
Breitbart had a freakout against progressive protesters at a Right Nation conference. The people were protesting at hateful rhetoric against Glenn Beck. Breitbart claims that the protesters were being paid and that Beck never said a hateful thing. It must have slipped Breitbart's mind when Beck said that President Barack Obama "has a deep-seated hatred of white people."
The funny thing is Breitbart is engaged in a full-on feud with Beck. The reason is after it was proven that the Shirley Sherrod video a doctored, Beck tore into Breitbart on his radio and Fox News show. Breitbart refuses to take responsibility for running a video that falsely claimed that Sherrod is a racist.
Breitbart had an epic melt down at Occupy protesters at the CPAC conference. Breitbart started yelling and falsely accused the Occupy protesters of being rapists and murders. Anyone who would falsely accuse a group of people of rape and murder has no grounds to call anyone else a hate monger. Breitbart's insane tirade is indicative of his journalism style. Breitbart projects his own failing on his political enemies.
"There is reports that have come out that Cuba has been working with another terrorist organization called Hezbollah. And Hezbollah is looking at wanting to be part of missile sites in Iran and, of course, when you are 90 miles offshore from Florida, you don’t want to entertain the prospect of hosting bases or sites where Hezbollah could have training camps or perhaps have missile sites or weapons sites in Cuba."
Hezbollah does not have bases in Cuba. Bachmann is reciting rumors floated on Townhall.com and the Andrew Breitbart web site Big Peace. Stories The Star tabloids about aliens giving farmers anal probes have more journalistic credibility.
Jesse Lee used to blog for the DCCC. (I know since I exchanged a few emails with him during his tenure at the DCCC.) Andrew Breitbart rattles off a crazy conspiracy theory that Lee was once the leader of the anti-war movement. The truth is Lee is an establishment Democrat.
BREITBART: Jesse Lee was at the forefront of the antiwar blogging movement, a point in time in which the same media that is out there saying that you can't criticize the president, Barack Obama, were out there saying 'dissent is patriotic' and so Jesse was protected by the media. Now he wants to go after Fox News, AM talk radio, Andrew Breitbart, and what he's doing is adding an extra protective layer to George Soros -- all the media that he's buying, and now Media Matters, which is a --
MURPHY: This is the Hannity show, not Beck.
BREITBART: This is a $15 million a year operation to try and shut up dissent. This is exactly what they do in totalitarian leftist nations like Venezuela. They try to shut people up.
BREITBART: He's a hit artist.
MURPHY: So are you!
The Clinton campaign in 1992 started a rapid response team. Bill Clinton didn't want to be paralyzed from political attacks like Michael Dukakis. The Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama campaigns both had rapid response teams to counter media criticism and attacks by opponents. Of course, Fox News and conservative talk radio is freaking out.
Wisconsin: Andrew Breitbart repeatly tells union members to "go to hell." John Fund, of the Wall Street Journal, floats the conspiracy of voter fraud. Fund alleges that Wisconsin was illegally won by Barack Obama. The Right actually considers Breitbart and Fund journalists.
Side note: it is fascinating to constantly watch Breitbart have meltdowns in publics. I'm glad that Republicans want Breitbart to be their spokesman.
Andrew Breitbart does the Jesus Christ pose. Like the Son of God, Anne Frank, and Gandhi before him, Breitbart has suffered an unimaginable indignity. Breitbart's posts will no longer be on the front page of the Huffington Post.
Andrew Breitbart’s ad hominem attack on Van Jones in The Daily Caller — right down to calling him a “commie punk” and “a cop killer-supporting, racist, demagogic freak” — violates the tenets of debate and civil discourse we have strived for since the day we launched. As a result, we will no longer feature his posts on the front page. He is welcome to continue publishing his work on HuffPost provided it adheres to our editorial guidelines, as the two posts he published on HuffPost did — guidelines that include a strict prohibition on ad hominem attacks.
Arianna Huffington and Andrew Breitbart have a long history together. They hang around the same Hollywood circles. Huffington hired Breitbart to help build the HP web site when it was still a start-up. It isn't surprising that Huffington would feel comfortable with Breitbart. Unfortuately, no one who worked for Huffington had the courage to tell her that having Breitbart blog at the Huffington Post was the dumbest business move since New Coke.
I would have more sympathy for Breitbart if he didn't post a misleadingly edited video of Shirley Sherrod, that resulted in her termination. Breitbart's ACORN videos were also found to be bogus. Breitbart constantly plays the victim but never fesses up to his false character assassinations. Thou doth protest too much.
Andrew Breitbart is refused to talk to Talking Points Memo about James O'Keefe's bizarre plan to film himself having sex with CNN reporter Abbie Boudreau. Fortunately, Boudreau was tipped off about O'Keefe's goal to act out his porn movie fantasies. (Ceiling mirror and dildos? Really.) O'Keefe has posted videos on Breitbart's web site in the past. Breitbart defended O'Keefe when the latter was arrested for attempting to tamper with Sen. Mary Landrieu's office phones. Breitbart got into an insane shouting match with David Shuster.
Breitbart and Shulter argued over O'Keefe's ACORN videos. A law enforcement investigation found that O'Keefe doctored the video.
Brooklyn prosecutors on Monday cleared ACORN of criminal wrongdoing after a four-month probe that began when undercover conservative activists filmed workers giving what appeared to be illegal advice on how to hide money.
While the video by James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles seemed to show three ACORN workers advising a prostitute how to hide ill-gotten gains, the unedited version was not as clear, according to a law enforcement source.
"They edited the tape to meet their agenda," said the source.
On Tweeter, Breitbart threatened to sue blogger Oliver Willis for libel. Willis posted this tweet.
wow, @andrewbreitbart's crew strikes again. o'keefe planned to seduce cnn reporter on boat with sex toys
Bretbart fired back at Willis.
@owillis '@andrewbreitbart's crew'? do you want to get sued for libel?
It is an empty threat. O'Keefe has been on Breitbart's payroll. Shulter reported the fact in the video and Breitbart did not refute it. Breitbart would be laughed out of court if he tried to sue Willis over a tweet. Breitbart needs to spend less time worrying about the Left and more time working on anger management issues. The guy seriously has problems.
Side note: Glenn Reynolds links to an Esquire interview of O'Keefe accomplice Ben Wetmore defending the plan to seduce Boudreau on the boat. Reynolds is actually doing pushback for his buddy Breitbart. I am more than happy to point out the moral void that is InstaPundit.
Kendrick Meek Zombie Watch: Andrew Breitbart Endorsement
Conservative flame thrower Andrew Breitbart give a highly insincere endorsement for Kendrick Meek. Javier Manjarres filmed the video and in his post states most people are not going to take this endorsement seriously. It would be surreal fun to see the two hit the campaign trail together.
Florida Senate President Jeff Atwater might want to explain why he is appearing in Tampa with Andrew Breitbart at the Florida Transparency Summit. The event is hosted the the conservative James Madison Institute. The summit will take place in downtown Tampa.
It is hard to take Breitbart seriously as an advocate for transparency when he attacked ACORN and Shirley Sherrod with doctoredvideotapes. Breitbart has also been invited to speak at an RNC fundrasier. Republicans such as Atwater and Michael Steele should be asked if they are bothered by Breitbart's lack of journalistic ethics and constant race-baiting. Sane minds would not want to be associated with Breitbart's antics. Instead, Republicans are treating the disgraced Breitbart as a hero.
"I'd have a long discussion with (Shirley Sherrod), and I'd tell her that I'm not one of these people in this country that thinks racism doesn't exist. And that I'm not one of these people who says she hasn't suffered from racism. And that the scars of racism aren't warranted But I'd also tell her that my passion in life and my political trajectory from left to right was born from watching Clarence Thomas hearings. I didn't understand how the NAACP sat on its hands while privileged white gentlemen hammered him mercilessly and humiliated him and the media and the NAACP allowed it to happen."
Perhaps the NAACP stayed out of the fray during the Thomas hearing was because a black woman named Anita Hill accused him of sexual harassment. The Thomas and Hill controversy was confusing because no one could say with 100 percent certainty who was telling the truth. John Cole points out that Thomas was appointed to the Supreme Court for his troubles. Sherrod's father was shot to death by a white man. Wanna take a guess which black man got the better deal?
Side note: Can Breitbart cite an incident of racism when a conservative is not the victim?
RNC chairman Michael Steele has a talent for bad timing. Andrew Breitbart will be one of the feautred speakers at the Republican National Committee's "Election Countdown." The fundraiser will be held in Beverly Hills, California on August 12 to 14.
I am not surprised that Breitbart could get torn apart for his bogus reporting of the Shirley Sherrod story and still be welcomed by the RNC. Breitbart is a hero to conservatives who have contempt for anything that doesn't fit their personal narrative. This cynicism allows Bill O'Reilly and Newt Gingrich to preach about sexual morality. G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North can go on Fox News and be taken seriously. Conservative television viewers refuse to ask why Liddy and North aren't in prison. Mark Foley even managed to snag his own talk radio show. It is literally impossible to be shamed out of the conservative movement.
Ann Coulter says Andrew Breitbart was "set up." What happened to conservatives preaching personal responsibility. Oh, that's right. That was just bullshit.
"The whole key to this story is that Andrew Breitbart was set up. He was sent a tape that, as we now know, was massively out of context. It did look like this woman was saying something racist. When she first said it was taken out of context . . . we've heard that before from politicians telling racist jokes. This is the first time in world history it was literally taken out of context.
"It was a lovely speech. Of course the White House reacted that way -- of course you reacted the way you did. Anyone would have. I think Breitbart ought to reveal his source, because he was set up. This was a fraud. The person who sent the edited tape has to know what the full speech said, and whomever sent only that segment to Andrew Breitbart is the one who should apologize to Shirley Sherrod.
It has been awhile since I have blogged about Ann Coulter. Michele Malkin has taken Coulter's mantle.
Coulter has been accused of plagiarism. She hardly can be accused of being an expert in journalism ethics. Journalism 101 teaches students to fact-check. Breitbart is responsible for checking the videotape. Having Ann Coulter speak on behave of Breitbart isn't going to help his credibility.
Digraced conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart when on CNN brought an imposter to play Eloise Spooner; the wife of the farmer Shirley Sherrod helped.
BREITBART: If it is the case and it can be shown to me that the incident she is talking about was done many years ago... in her current context. As a reporter, you tell me how you confirmed that the incident she is talking about was 24 years ago. You tell me as a reporter how CNN put on a person today who purported to be the farmer's wife. What did you do to find out whether or not that was the actual farmer's wife.
If there is anyone that knows investigative reporting it is Andrew Breitbart.
Getting a lecture on journalism from Andrew Breitbart is the equivalent of Tiger Woods giving a sanctimonious on the virtues on abstinence. It is not an accident one of the labels for this post is humor.
"I am public enemy No. 1 or 2 to the Democratic Party, the progressive movement and the Obama administration based upon the successes my journalism has had."
The Shirley Sherrod and ACORN videos Breitbart posted were doctored or taken out-of-context. The only thing Breitbart is an enemy to is actual journalism.
Have you ever seen Breitbart on cable news? The guy is seriously unhinged and angy. I almost feel sorry for him.
Breitbart attacks Salon.com for not properly investigating the ACORN tapes. Breitbart could have saved himself much embarrassment if him investigated the tapes. He goes on to accuse Salon.com of engaging in character assassination. Breitbart accuses other people of not investigating his videos. When these videos are proven to be bogus Breitbart claims no responsibility for videos posted on his own web site. I find it fascinating that Breitbart continues to target black groups and then behaves like a child when questioned about it.
Watch the videos. I'm convinced Breitbart has personal issues.
"Meanwhile, as a matter of politics, I think this episode demonstrates that this White House is a much more tightly wound outfit than it lets on in public. The rapid-response firing suggests a level of fear over Glenn Beck and Fox that speaks volumes."
Goldberg's defense of Andrew Breitbart is laughable and not worth responding to. Breitbart has repeatedly pulled stunts with heavily edited videos and his he didn't know dfense is unbelievable.
Goldberg does make a correct observation that the Obama White House is devoid of moral courage. The proper thing to do would have been to investigate the video before making a decision on Sherrod's work status. The White House immediately asked for Sherrod to resign without knowing the facts. The message is the Obama people are willi ng to give up any scalp the Right wants. Van Jones is the perfect example.
