Fishbourne

Hello dear readers! How are you?

Sorry for such a long gap between entries. I have returned home to England for the summer and I have been busy enjoying myself!

I still have lots of Tokyo posts to catch up on, but in today's entry I'll show you photos from a day in Fishbourne, near Chichester.

As I have mentioned before, I am friends with a certain Jack who has marvellous Adventures in Museum Land! Last wekend he wanted to visit Fishbourne Roman Palace. I had been there before on a school trip, but I thought it would be nice to refresh my memory and so I tagged along.

Here is my outfit:

Blouse: Vintage
Skirt: Handmade
Plimsolls, socks: Offbrand

Since we were going into the country I thought it would be wise to wear plimsolls, and I put together a 50s inspired coordinate to match them. I looped up my hair to make a poofy ponytail and tied it with a pale green ribbon.

It's simple to do and cute and practical for summer! I will make a tutorial soon.

I won't tell you too much about the museum as you'll be much better off reading my friend's excellent article! However I'll share a couple of photos of the most famous and well preserved mosaic there:

Cupid riding a dolphin

A hippocampus

The mosaic also included an exciting sea-panther but my photo didn't come out well :(

Although it's not my favourite period in history I always feel a sort of jolly familiarity when I visit Roman sites. Latin was probably my best subject at school and I kept on with it right until I left sixth form. Unfortunately I don't remember all that much of it now!

Outside, a reenactment with 'Roman' soldiers was being staged. It went on a bit but there was a thrilling part where they all rushed at the audience and several children ran away screaming! A the end there was a demonstration of the onager and that was pretty good too.

After we had exhausted the museum we had a picnic and then went for a stroll. We met two very friendly horses!

Lovely horsey! I wanted to take them home with me.

Since I'm in England for a while, I am going to try to write more about my own country. There are a lot of wonderful things here and I want to share them with you! I hope you enjoyed todays post.

Thank you for reading and see you next time,

Tokyo Disneyland

Hello dear readers! How are you today?

The weather has been so warm lately that I was able to have a picnic with other other lolitas yesterday. However, today's post is from when the weather was much colder a month or so ago. This was when I visited Disneyland!

I arrived in Chiba the day before going to the park, and stayed at the Disney Ambassador Hotel. This meant that I could start the day by having breakfast with my favourite characters!

Me and Mickey! I was so happy to meet him <3 I'm a big fan of Mickey Mouse, I  think he's cool!

Me and Donald. I wanted to grab his tail, it was so cute! Probably not good behaviour though....

Minne was so pretty!

You can see a bit of the hotel room behind me, it was lovely, and much bigger than my entire apartment! I got this hat in Disney Sea last year. If you go to Disney or Disney Sea you will see lots of people in Disney hats of different sorts. This leopard one is pretty popular! I recommend getting one if you go, you will feel left out if you don't and probably catch a cold too.

I love the buildings at Disneyland! This is in the World Bazaar area. The ice-cream colours are so cute!

I went to watch this crazy Michael Jackson short film from 1987 called Captain EO. Michael Jackson is Captain EO and he and his crew of robots and aliens go to give a present to a scary tentacle lady. Their present is the gift of song and dance! Touched by their performance, the scary tentacle lady turns into Angelica Huston is a pretty gown and all is well. It is certainly a curious thing and I enjoyed it!

Near Cinderella's castle. There were lots of friendly ducks waddling around on the grass or having a swim.

Another cute building in Fantasyland. Fantasyland has rides from all the classic movies like Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. I prefer rides where you sit in a little car and look at things much more than rollercoasters and things so I like this zone the best. I don't recommend the Pinocchio ride though, the car goes so fast you can't see anything and it's awful to queue for ages and then finish the ride in about ten seconds.

I went to Cinderella's castle for the first time. It was closed for refubishment before. I'm so glad I went in, I really loved it. It's so pretty inside! Here is one of the stained glass windows. You can see 'It's a Small World' at the bottom of the picture.

Inside the castle there are little displays telling the story of Cinderella. They are all different; this one had moving parts so it was as if the mice were really working on Cinderella's dress! My favourite display was the one where the Fairy Godmother transforms Cinderella and the pumpkin, but it wasn't possible to take a photo. I don't know how they did it but it's really like magic!

In the throne room there are murals, and if you take a photo of them with a flash, a secret message is revealed!

 Ta-da!

And of course you can do this!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures, there's some more coming next time so please look out for them!

Day in Shibuya

Hello dear readers, how are you?

Did you hear about the dust cloud that turned Tokyo's sky into a horrible yellow-brown haze? I was in that! It was so scary, I'm glad it didn't stay for too long.

Anyway, today I have a few photos to share from a day out in Shibuya. I don't go to Shibuya often, but I think I will start going more since I found a few interesting places on this day.

First, here's my outfit:

Blouse, skirt: Vintage
Bag: Metamorphose
Tights: tutuanna
Others: Offbrand

Not lolita today! I got this red and blue tartan skirt in a vintage shop in Koenji. It was less than 500yen! I really love it, it's become my lazy day skirt. Actually that sweater is my lazy day sweater.... I guess it was a lazy day!

The main reason for going to Shibuya that day was to try a particular restaurant that was recommended to me. At this restaurant, you order a main dish (fish or meat) and then help yourself to all sorts of vegetable dishes as much as you like.

The name of the restaurant is ぷんらく(Punraku) and it is situated on the top floor of Tsutaya, which you will see as you leave Shibuya station by the Hachiko exit.

I thought it was really good! The main dish was a white fish of some sort with basil sauce, it was so delicious. The flavour of the fish was the main attraction, rather than the basil sauce livening up a boring piece of flavourless fish.

As for the vegetable dishes, there were lots to choose from and quite varied, between salads, cooked vegetables, different types of beans and so on. All very nice! There's also unlimited drinks, including teas and soft drinks.

After such a healthy lunch I did some healthy shopping (healthy for my wallet because I didn't buy anything) and then... had chocolate cake!

It was at a cafe called Kiefer or perhaps Kiefel,  depending on which menu you happened to receive. Anyway, it was very nice! The cakes are not particularly outstanding perhaps, but it's pretty inside and not expensive. It's to the left of 109 as you approach it from Hachiko.

So that was my day in Shibuya! I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

See you again soon,

Robot Kitty in Omotesando Hills

Hello everyone! How are you enjoying the weekend? I'm going to see D tomorrow! Can't wait!

Today I'm going to show you some photos I took at the Robot Kitty exhibition at Omotesando Hills in Harajuku.

I didn't know this exhibition was on, but I'm glad I chanced upon it!

In this exhibition, Hello Kitty has been re-designed as a robot, and many celebrities were asked to dream up outfits for her. For example.....

Kishidan Robot Kitty!

Colourful Robot Kitty by Sebastian Masuda (founder of 6%DOKIDOKI)

Baby's contribution was a bit.... unexpected?

I knew this flamboyant robo-cat must be the work of someone special!
Sure enough, the designer is IZAM.

Yuko Yamaguchi, the designer of Hello Kitty since 1980, was present at the exhibition. She was wearing Emily Temple Cute!

She spent a long time signing things for this lady, who was obviously a big Kitty fan! She was wearing a Kitty yukata, with a Kitty obi, Kitty handbag, and had an endless array of Kitty good to be signed.

What do you think of Hello Kitty? I used to like her a lot when I was 12 or so, but these days my favourite characters are Jiji (Ghibli), Duffy (Disney) and Kutusita nyanko (are they more mature perhaps?). Rilakkuma has taken over from Kitty as Japan's most popular character, or so it seems to me. Still, I don't think she'll ever be forgotten!

Here's my casual coordinate for that day:
Cutsew by an another angelus (f.i.n.t) and JSK by Metamorphose

No fringe!
I just pinned it to once side, it's not gone forever. I really love my new cutsew from f.i.n.t! There was a choice of dusky pink or lilac, pink would probably be easier to coordinate but the lilac was too pretty to resist! I like how it picks up the purple roses in the print of this JSK, and in fact it makes it look like a onepiece.

~I'm making a new tag for f.i.n.t because I know I won't be able to stay away from there XD~

My new home

Hello readers!

How are you? Today I've been exploring my neighbourhood.

First of all, would you like to see the view from my apartment that I mentioned yesterday?

(with scientific annotations)

I'll have to visit Sky Tree sometime, and there's a new bulding in Shibuya called Hikarie that's also on my to-do list.

My apartment block is right next to a very beautiful temple, I can see part of it from my window:

I had a healthy breakfast yesterday, sakuranbo and yasai juice!

It's the first time I've tried this type of cherries. I love the dark red kind, but these are also lovely, with a more gentle taste. I love this juice, it's full of all sorts of vegetables, very good for you and delicious too! I don't know if any of my readers are AKB48 fans (I'm not really) but some years ago they were promoting this juice and even made this PV in which they dance around dressed as vegetables:

As I was mentioned earlier, I was out visiting my local shops today. I'm staying in Koenji- it's such a cute neighbourhood! I was delighted to find lots of second-hand shops and charming cafes. I had to go into this cafe when I saw the sign:

It's Owl from Owl at Home! Owl at Home is one of the first books I can remember reading with my mother. It seems that this cafe is in a very old building (or else it's very cleverly decorated) and there are all sorts of cute touches like an embroidered menu board, old fashioned china and lots of owls!

It's only a casual oufit (it's hot!) but I'll give you the rundown:

Onepiece, bag: Vintage
Parasol: Innocent World
Hair ribbon: Anna House

Ah, and I couldn't resist a little clothes shopping:

It's a vintage cardigan jacket with bracelet sleeves. It's the perfect length to wear with lolita and I've been searching for a cream jacket for ages. Yes, I'm very good at justifying my purchases! I can tell it's going to be dangerous living in such close proximity to all these lovely shops....

I hope you've enjoyed this post! There are lots more exciting things coming up. I'm going to Versailles presents Tokyo Metropolis tomorrow; a special three-man live with D, Moi dix Mois and of course Versailles! It will be the first time I'll see Mana-sama!

As well as that I'm going to a lolita meet up and a Tanabata festival.

The next post will be about the live! See you then,

with love from Sapphira
