I Can't Pass Up a Bargain!

So, I went to my local Staples store today to get ink for my printer, and they had a small table near the checkout with some clearance items.  And I saw this scrapbook for $1.00, a 12x12 scrapbook (kit, more or less) for just one $1.00!!  Regularly $14.90.  Well, I wasn't even sure I could use it, but I figure I still have 20 years of scrapping to do on my daughter,so why not?!  You can't even buy a pack of gum for $1.00 these days.

The theme is "Kids" and it has 16 pages of layouts.  And they even included some cute die cuts and a sheet of stickers.

Sorry for the poor pictures, but it was getting to be dusk and I took the book out on my sunporch to try to capture some daylight so the flash wouldn't reflect off the pages!

I do think I'll use it, but for some reason, I'm feeling a little guilty...like I'm cheating on my Cricut!

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you're having a nice day.

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #71

Hi Everyone!

Time for another
Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge
Use a fruit or vegetable that represents summer.

For me, summertime means crabs, corn, and watermelon.  In Maryland, steamed crabs are layered with Old Bay seasoning made by McCormick Spice Company right here in my home state!  Top that off with some buttered corn on the cob and sweet watermelon, and that's a summertime feast'!!

I made a scrapbook layout for this challenge--woohoo!

(need to add 2 more photos, of course!)
Paper is from DCWV Seasons stack
"Maryland" is cut from 50 States
Mats with shadow are from Elegant Edges

 Watermelon is from Simply Charmed.

Crab is from Life's a Beach.

Corn is from Country Life
"Summer" is from Simply Charmed (same page as watermelon)

This week's sponsor is Ginger Snap Scraps
$10 Gift Certificate

We hope you'll join us in this week's challenge to use a fruit or vegetable that represents summer.  Link your card, layout or altered project to Die Cuttin Divas by July 2, and be sure to include a die cut in your project.

I'd like to enter my layout into the following challenges:

Little Scrap Pieces - Use Yellow
Fantabulous Cricut - BBQ or Picnic Food
My Craft Spot - Hot Summer Colors
Pause Dream Enjoy - Use 3 Things
Cardz TV Challenge #111 - Summer Fun

Can't wait to see what you create this week!

Challenge for Your Story

Karen at Karen's-Kake-Krafts is having a great giveaway!!  You could win a Your Story machine!  All you have to do is create a baby boy layout.  So here's my entry.

I used 8x8" paper (little stars and moons in case you can't tell).  Using the New Arrival cart,  I cut It's a Boy circle at 2-1/2" I think, and had to make the "charm" larger since the measurement includes the top part (not too visible, but it's behind the ribbon; like the top of an ornament).  The stork is also cut at 2-1/2" and layered.  Then I punched 2 scalloped circles (they're 2") and put them together for a background for the stork.  Pop dotted the stork on the circles.  Put polka dots on him and the charm with markers.  The charm is also popped up. Cut the picture mats, too, from New Arrival at 3-1/2" and then added the corner adornments (EK punch).  It's hard for me to put together a layout without working with the actual pictures, but I think this gives you the idea of what I'm going for.  I will probably use this for myself and once I place the pictures, I think I'll add more corner adornments to the other side of the pictures and then some bling in the empty space that's left.

There's still time to enter--August 10 is the deadline.  Visit Karen's blog (link above) for details.  And thanks, Karen for a chance at your terrific giveaway!!

Scrapbook Layout

I  just finished making an 8x8 scrapbook for a dear friend I work with who is retiring.  Here is a 2-page layout of "ladies' day out" when we went to see the movies Sex and the City, and Sex and the City 2.  As I am sensitive to sharing photos on the web, I have blocked out the actual pictures.  I cut the city scene from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.  Love that there was even such an image!  I made the movie marquee image in Powerpoint.  Hope you like it.
