Fawn'd of You...A Spring Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge

Hello and welcome to another fun
Saturday Challenge

at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

It's my turn to play hostess this week, and our challenge theme is:

SPRING!

I created a watercoloured scene using two of our stamp sets and my Daniel Smith paints.

I first stamped the adorable little deer from our brand new Fawn'd of You set...such a perfect set for our Spring theme! I also pulled out an unexpected set: Spooky Silhouettes. While this set was included in a Halloween release, I find the tree stamp to be extremely versatile! I stamped both images in our Totally Taupe Ink on Arches cold pressed watercolour paper.  I started by dropping in the sky and grass. I then worked on painting the tree canopy as pink blossoms. As the tree was stamped in a light brown ink, I was still able to layer a few different brown paints to create a bark-like texture. I used a little white gauche to paint the spots on the fawns's backside.

Each and every Saturday we post a brand new challenge for the week and you are welcome to enter as many times as you like!  These must be new creations and you are welcome to use any stamp, however using a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp will earn you double entries!  Each submission will enter you into the monthly draw of a $40 gift voucher to the krafty shop!

We've also got a brand new sketch to inspire you for the month of March!  You don't have to use it but it's there for you to use if you need a little kickstart....feel free to use it any time!

There are two ways to enter our challenges!  1) you can link up your entries at the bottom of the post on the KKS blog and 2) share your KKS creations in our Krafty Friends facebook group!

Also don't miss this weekend's FRUGAL FRIDAY SPECIALS!

Spring is in the Air!

I sure hope spring stays in the air...we had snow earlier this week in Southwestern Ontario! I do love winter, but I am ready for warmer weather and sunshine to set it. I love hearing the birds out chirping in the trees, and it's so nice to let some fresh air into the house. It's my turn today to share a card at Sundays with Crissy. We have two options for your challenge theme this month..."Spring" or "Baby" themed projects!

For my card today, I used two of Crissy's newest digital images from Whimsy Stamps..."Meadow Background" and "New Chickie". I merged the images together before printing them out on Neenah cardstock. The paper is from October Afternoon.

We'd love to have you play along with us. You can link your project up on Sarah's post from the beginning of the month, HERE. (just look for the Inlinkz button at the end of her post) All rules for entering challenges at Sundays With Crissy can be found in the sidebar of the challenge blog.

(sorry for the short post today folks...we've got company arriving as I'm typing! lol)

Blessings,

Melanie

Day Two of the February Previews at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!!

Today, we're bringing you another round of previews at the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog featuring the soon-t0-be-released stamps by artist Steven Leary!

I used the adorable "Springtime Bunnies"...aren't they cute?? I decided to make a clean and simple little 4.5" square notecard. The nice thing about small notecards is that you can use up some of those little scraps of paper you have left over from other projects....and they are just perfect for tucking into little unexpected places for a special someone to find. :) I pulled out some scrap ribbon, a button and a bit of embroidery floss to finish it off. I used to do a ton of cross-stitching, so I have quite a selection of embroidery floss colours. No sense in letting them go to waste!!

Springtime Bunnies was stamped on Neenah Smooth Cardstock and coloured with my Copics. I was trying to give them a furry look, but I got a tad heavy-handed with my markers and ended up overblending...something you want to avoid when you're trying to create texture. The sky was created with a little hand-cut cloud template, a makeup sponge and Memento Summer Sky Ink. (I forgot to record my Copic colours this time, so I must apologize for not having a marker list today.)

To see the rest of the sneak peeks by the other Krafty Girls, please stop by the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog for the complete list of links. Make sure to join us tomorrow for another round of previews featuring some of the February stamps by another fabulous Krafty artist!! We will also have a final round of sneak peeks during our weekly challenge on Saturday, followed by our official release day blog hop on Sunday!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

Blessings,
Melanie

Fancy Florals...and Day 3 of Sneak Peeks at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!!

Welcome to another new challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps...and to add to the fun, we also have another round of previews featuring the brand new January stamps by Krafty artist Annie Rodrigue!!

I would like to take a moment to extend a very warm welcome to our newest full-time Krafty Girl Angie Baker!! I've had the great pleasure of meeting Angie in person, and she is such a doll! We're so excited to have her as a permanent member of our team. If you have not signed up as a follower on her blog, please make sure to do so! Angie is our lovely hostess this week, and her challenge is "Fancy Florals".

I would like to introduce you all to "Lily Lemon", one of five new images this month by artist Annie Rodrigue. I am loving the sweet gals Annie created this month...so fun and fruity fresh! I used some gorgeous papers from Prima on this card...I picked them up at Scrappin' Great Deals a few weeks ago. The edges of the papers were all sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I added lots of zig-zag stitching to this card and a few dollar store pearls. Those pretty flowers are from Prima...I'm totally guilty of hoarding those big roses with the coarse glitter. I've been saving them for just the right project. :) The little roses were treated to a bit of Stardust Stickles, just so they matched the larger rose.

Lily Lemon was stamped on Neenah Smooth cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copic markers. How adorable is she?? I love her demure pose...just look at how she's twisting her hair around her finger. I was originally going to colour Lily as a blonde, but thought that perhaps the lemons adorning her hair would show up better against brunette locks. After colouring with my markers, I applied just a little white Prismacolour pencil to the highlights of her gown. Lily also comes with the coordinating sentiment "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade!" and an accessory lemon stamp.

Copics: Skin: E000, E00, E11, E21, R20 Hair: E50, E30, E31, E33, E37, E59 Gown: G20, G82, G85, G99, C5, C9, Y00, Y02, Y17, E33, E37, YG00, YG11, YG 63, YG67

We would love to have you join in the "Fancy Florals" challenge this week...if you make sure to use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp (you can buy them HERE) on your project, then you just might be the lucky winner of either Rebecca Raspberry or Stella Strawberry, as seen on Angie's stunning cards this week! You can link up your project on the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog, where you will see the gorgeous projects created this week by the Krafty Girls and Krafty Guests.

One more sleep friends...and then you can get your inky fingers on the brand new January stamps!! Please join us tomorrow for the official release day blog hop...Kimmie has a fantastic line up of very talented stampers participating in the hop!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope to see you all tomorrow. :)

Blessings,

Melanie

An Abundance of Cocoa!

That's right...Cocoa is popping up all over the place at Sweet 'n Sassy!! If you have not ever seen this sweet little mouse, then you are totally missing out! Korin Sutherland, owner of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, illustrated this adorable little character, and he has been found peeking out from behind many different items over the last couple of months! Cocoa is definitely a popular image! Recently, Korin added several new Cocoa images and I know you will want each and every one! The beautiful thing is...you can get them all without breaking the bank! They are priced at an amazing $3.00 each(USD), and remember, because they are digital images you will have them instantly! No waiting in anticipation for the post man!

For today, I chose to work with "Peek-a-Boo" Cocoa. I think we are all longing for spring...to see that first shoot of green from under the white blanket. It will be here soon enough, but in the meantime it's fun to colour some fresh "springy" images! I printed Cocoa off on Neenah cardstock and coloured with my Copic markers. The sentiment is part of "Springtime Blessings".

That cute little butterfly flitting about above Cocoa's head is also a Sweet 'n Sassy image called "Whimsical Butterfly". I gave the butterfly a coat of Frosted Lace Stickles, and bent up the wings before adhering it to the main image.

Now remember, Thursdays are Digi Day over at our Sweet 'n Sassy Group on SNR. The challenge this week?? Butterflies! So, now you know why I added one to my image today! Our host for today is the fabulously talented Lynne...can't wait to see what she created for the challenge!

See you later on over at SNR!

God bless!

Melanie
