Stencil Challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps

Good Morning and welcome to another
fabulous and fun Saturday Challenge

Our Challenge this week is....
USE A STENCIL!

Each and every Saturday we post a brand new challenge for the week and you are welcome to enter as many times as you like.
These must be new creations
and you are welcome to use any stamp however using Kraftin' Kimmie stamp and products will earn you double entries!
The monthly prize is a $25 voucher to the Krafty shop!!!

There are two ways to enter... you can link up your creation on the Kraftin’ Kimmie blog page AND you can upload your photo to the album in our Krafty Friends FB group.

I created a little canvas featuring PERFECT PEONY. I covered a dollar store canvas with a dictionary page (although, I went a little too thick with the paint, so the text didn't even show through lol), applied texture paste over our Nautical Netting stencil (currently out of stock, but add your name to the email list to notify you when it's back in stock) and Lots O' Dots stencil and then painted it in acrylics. After it was dry, I rubbed some gold paint over the stenciled areas to highlight the texture. I watercoloured the peony twice to pop up a layer to give it more depth. The sentiment is from the set (sorry about the glare...acrylics didn't photograph well under my light!) and I added some die cut leaves and rhinestones for finishing touches.

Also if you need a little extra inspiration or a jumpstart to your mojo, we have a new sketch each month! Feel free to use it any time!

You'll get to see all 3 sets in action as you hop around today. If you haven't scooped them up yet, make sure to pop on over to the shop to place your order! For those of you who have to have it all, make sure to check out the July Gimmie Kimmie Kit...you'll get the full release in a bundle at a discounted price, but only while supplies last!

Kimmie has also added some fun new embellishments to the shop...check out the selection of sequins now available!

There's also the SECRET KRAFTY KARD KIT! You're going to love this one...it's Halloween themed and jam packed full of krafty goodness! Additionally, you'll be invited to a private facebook group and asked to join us as a Special Krafty Guest to help release the new stamp set along with the Krafty Design Team!

This weekend only our AMAZING Krafty Hybrid Inks are 15% off...make sure to put some in your cart. I can honestly say that these inks have become my go-to regardless of which medium I'm using. No other ink has ever given me such clean crisp images. I highly recommend them! Sale ends Monday morning.

For my release hop project, I used the fun BLAST OFF set by Cheryl Grant. I got together with Kimmie a couple of weeks ago and we spend some time getting creative in the Krafty Kave. We decided to try painting some galaxy backgrounds on canvas...we had a lot of fun playing with acrylic paints! We figured they would be perfect for this new set. I stamped Lucas and the dog on Neenah paper and coloured them with Copics. They were fussy cut out and adhered to the painted backdrop. These are little 4x4 canvases that I found at the dollar store...just the perfect size for a little space scene!

Here's the list of designers participating in today's hop:

While we absolutely LOVE all the new releases, it's fun to open our personal KKS vaults and show a little love to our older stamps. ;)

Play along with our theme for your chance to win a $20.00 gift card to the KKS shop. We will draw one winner per month from all Saturday challenges...you can enter as many times as you want!

Did you order the new July release stamps yet? They are all available in the KKS shop. While you're there, make sure to check out the Frugal Friday specials. Oh, and also take a peek at the KIT section. ;)

If you need a little kick start to your krafty mojo, make sure to check out our monthly sketch at the KKS challenge blog. You don't need to use it of course, but if you do use it in any challenge this month, you will get an extra chance to win the gift card!

This challenge was a lot of fun for me. I have been on the KKS team since almost the very beginning! I began as a guest designer, and Kimmie has been stuck with me every since. ;)  So when Jammie posted this challenge, I was tasked with the HUGE job of looking through many years worth of stamps! It was fun to take a trip down memory lane to revisit some favourite characters. I have to say, it was tough choosing which stamps to use! I finally settled on one that I absolutely love...this fabulous stamp by Annie Rodrigue is called PERFECT POISON. I've used her a few times over the years, but I'm not sure that I ever coloured her in the no-lines technique. I stamped her in Memento Desert Sand and coloured her with Copics. I added a lot of dark shading with green undertones to her skin, eyes and hair to hint at a reflection from the bottle. After I was done, I added some smokey shading with a black conte crayon applied with a paper blending stump...I concentrated a lot of this shading around her eyes. Instead of a card, I painted a canvas in acrylics, fussy cut her out and adhered her to the canvas board.

Hope you plan to play along this week!

Thanks for visiting. :)

Melanie

This week's theme is CLOUDS. When looking through my KKS stamp sets, I decided to use the little bird from the Hoppy Friends set released this month. I love that the smaller accessory stamps from the sets can be used to create scenes or even as the focal image for smaller projects. I pulled out a 3x5 canvas board and painted a sky background with my Liquitex Basics acrylic paints. I then painted a tree for the bird to perch on. The bird was stamped on Neenah cardstock in Memento Desert Sand Ink. I first coloured with Copics and then added additional shading with my Polychromos coloured pencils. The bird was fussy cut and adhered to the canvas.

Here's a peek at the full Hoppy Friends set:

For more inspiration, hop on over the the KKS blog to see what the Krafty Krew and our lovely guests have created this week. Then pull out your KKS stamps and create a card, scrapbook page or altered item and incorporate clouds into your design!! You will have until March 31st at 11:55 pm EST to submit your entries!

I decided to work on a canvas for today's sneak peek. I started by painting in a sky and blocking in the ground on the canvas board with Liquitex Basics acrylic paints. Next, I stamped the Forest Background stamp directly on the canvas and painted the scene in acrylics. I then stamped Adventure Mom on Neenah cardstock and coloured her with Copic markers. I used my Cutterbee scissors to fussy cut the coloured image and then adhered her to the canvas.

Here's the hop list for today:

"Sending Love" with SCACD

Good morning!! Have you seen the recent re-release of the gorgeous Guardian Angels at SCACD?? I adore these angels. They are so versatile and an absolute joy to colour. This is "Sending Love Angel". I decided to pull out a canvas and some paints to create a background...it's been a very long time since I've attempted to paint anything, so I am more than a bit rusty! (you can find canvases in the Mixed Media section at SCACD) To be honest, I need to invest in some better brushes I used some old inexpensive ones I've had kicking around for an eternity, lol. I used some matte medium to thin my paints out a bit to ease with the blending transitions. "Sending Love Angel" was stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. Her wings were given a coat of Stardust Stickles and she was adhered with the matte medium. I am a fan of Neenah paper for colouring with Copics, but thought I'd try out some cheap cardstock I have for using on the interior of my cards. It actually wasn't too bad for blending, but as it has a bit more "tooth" than what I prefer, I don't think I'll reach for it very often. It is however, a thinner paper than Neenah and so it has lower profile when adhered to the canvas.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, RV95, R20  Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59  Jeans: B000, B91, B93, B95, B97, C7, C9  Shirt: V01, V12, V15, V9, C7, C9

Make sure to take a look around SCACD to check out all the new products Susana has been ordering in. If you are a mixed media artist, make sure to check out THIS section for some fantastic products perfect for canvases and art journals.
