BOOK REVIEW - THE BEAST by J.R. WARD - BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD # 14 - PIATKUS - ADULT PARANORMAL ROMANCE

By: J.R. Ward

Published By: Piatkus, Hachette

Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback from publisher for honest review.

RATING: 5 STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Rhage and Mary return in a new novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, a series “so popular, I don’t think there’s a reader today who hasn’t at least heard of [it]” (USA Today).

Nothing is as it used to be for the Black Dagger Brotherhood. After avoiding war with the Shadows, alliances have shifted and lines have been drawn. The slayers of the Lessening Society are stronger than ever, preying on human weakness to acquire more money, more weapons, more power. But as the Brotherhood readies for an all-out attack on them, one of their own fights a battle within himself…

For Rhage, the Brother with the biggest appetites, but also the biggest heart, life was supposed to be perfect—or at the very least, perfectly enjoyable. Mary, his beloved shellan, is by his side and his King and his brothers are thriving. But Rhage can’t understand—or control—the panic and insecurity that plague him…

And that terrifies him—as well as distances him from his mate. After suffering mortal injury in battle, Rhage must reassess his priorities—and the answer, when it comes to him, rocks his world...and Mary’s. But Mary is on a journey of her own, one that will either bring them closer together or cause a split that neither will recover from...

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I’m a fan pure and simple about the way the Black Dagger Brotherhood series has evolved into this multi character read.

I loved the first group of books in the series which focused on one character and his Shellan.

I was less a fan of the story line when it ventured into the Lessers and The Omega stuff that was going on in the background, but it was essential to what the brotherhood did with their day, erm night.

Then the Warden got busy and started bringing in the BOB lads, aka The Band Of Bastards.

Then she really started multitasking with the characters and I truly enjoy it this way.

She has eased off the pedal a little bit in The Beast, concentrating more on Rhage and Mary with a side order of Assail, who I kinda dig.

I loved meeting Rhage’s dragon more and how Mary can contain the beast within. It is kinda cute. I loved reading about Rhage’s emotions and getting below the surface more with both of them.

Xcor and Layla will always be the couple that are gonna intrigue the shit out of me until I can read how J.R. can get them together, because he truly is the enemy.

Qhuinn and Blay are always such gorgeous lads. I want more from them too as I am kinda a bit greedy when it comes to them in a M/M way.

Lassiter is... dare I say it? A little more serious and thoughtful in this installment...well apart from...bahahahaa.

V is in the picture with some words of wisdom and some of his own moments of soul searching, V style.

Twists abound just to shake us up a bit and get us eager for book #15!!! I have never read 14 books in a series before. I came close with Morganville Vampires... but dayum!

I simply clear my calendar when a BDB book is released. Shit just gets swooshed to the side.

J.R puts so much energy and vision into her story lines. Some readers complain about all the characters but I simply love it.

I think from an author point of view it would be very satisfying to include a range of characters in each book.

I want to know about them all. It is incredibly hard work juggling the amount of characters she writes in an installment so I take my hat off to her.

A lot of hard work.

The books are thick so plenty of room for J.R’s imagination to fill the pages and all the characters she chooses to let us read about.

I’m looking forward to The Chosen, # 15 because after reading The Beast my brain is theorizing.

Bring it on and wait for the swoosh of everything being moved out the way.

Bring on the new characters, bring on the multitasking of characters and I am a happy reader.

BOOK REVIEW - THE SHADOWS by J.R. WARD - BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD # 13 - ADULT PARANORMAL ROMANCE - PIATKUS

By: J.R. Ward
Published By: Piatkus
Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback from Hachette Aust for honest review, 576 Pages

RATING: 5 EMOTION PACKED STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Two brothers bound by more than blood fight to change a brutal destiny in the heart-wrenching new novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood by #1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward.

Trez “Latimer” doesn’t really exist. And not just because the identity was created so that a Shadow could function in the underbelly of the human world. Sold by his parents to the Queen of the S’Hsibe as a child, Trez escaped the Territory and has been a pimp and an enforcer in Caldwell, NY for years- all the while on the run from a destiny of sexual servitude. He’s never had anyone he could totally rely on... except for his brother, iAm.

iAm’s sole goal has always been to keep his brother from self-destructing- and he knows he’s failed. It’s not until the Chosen Serena enters Trez’s life that the male begins to turn things around... but by then it’s too late. The pledge to mate the Queen’s daughter comes due and there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and no negotiating.

Trapped between his heart and a fate he never volunteered for, Trez must decide whether to endanger himself and others- or forever leave behind the female he’s in love with. But then an unimaginable tragedy strikes and changes everything. Staring out over an emotional abyss, Trez must find a reason to go on or risk losing himself and his soul forever. And iAm, in the name of brotherly love, is faced with making the ultimate sacrifice...

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

J.R. Ward has me sticking with this series like glue to paper.

I’m addicted.

For those who have followed The Black Dagger Brotherhood and are fellow prisoners to this series you know she likes to change her style throughout the series.

We had the individual brothers and their loves, then she changed to bringing us lots of side stories and now we seem to be doing that but Rhage has tickled her fancy to give him some more storyline.

I am intrigued.

The Warden has also decided to rip our hearts out and keep it that way.

OMG!

I cried.

I CRIED!

There is so much going on yet again and I really do take my hat off to The Warden for the amount of detail and attention to context she has to juggle, to get these bricks of books over the finish line. Readers really need to appreciate the work involved. I totally dig the multitude of stories going on.

Trez and iAm and Xcor and s’Ex are the lads that really made me feel in this instalment.

iAm did make me giggle at him and Goddamn Cat.

iAm caught Goddamn Cat, also known as Boo, in his arms. He absolutely despised the animal—especially lately, as the fleabag had started sleeping with him during the day. All that cuddling. Purring.

Worse? He was getting used to the torture.

Lassiter is hilarious in his small role.

Lassiter poked his head out of the billiards room. "Hey! Dragon boy -- Project Runway's on if you wanna come watch. Maybe pick up some pointers on your threads."

I love how new music was brought to my attention. Schoolboy Q I had not heard of, but I like to listen to the music that gets brought into any story and I could so see the scene that much more 3D with Hell of a Night playing.

There is also a hint at a new direction with the Brotherhood that I think is about time and totally cool.

I get so excited to read a J.R. Ward BDB book. Now I did shy away from reading her Fallen Angels series, I do have some here on my shelf to read only because I didn’t want my BDB bubble burst. I need them to be as good as BDB.

Regardless I will crack Covet open shortly. They are calling to me.

I highly recommend reading this exceptional paranormal series filled with Alpha males, villains, Grey Goose, SEX, emotion, LOVE, Band of Bastards aka BOB, tough women, shit kickers, manly love, bromance...

Seriously crack them open in order and get with the BDB program.

When my daughter is waaaaaay old enough, she will be getting mine lovingly handed down to her.

But when she decides she wants a child, she's unprepared for Wrath's response - or the distance it creates between them. The question is, will true love win out...or tortured legacy take over.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Hell. Yeah! With a great big rum and raisin icecream with the brothers on top!

HELL YEAH!

This was a most scrumptious read. I just want to pull out the thesaurus and throw down a whole lot of words. But, you get my drift.

Freakin’, darn, awesome.

Worth the wait.

Ok, so Ms Ward has adopted the multiple pov style from Lover At Last, again. I really like it.

I will say, that I was missing Qhuinn and Blay, but they did have a whole book to themselves and it is time to move on and put the spotlight elsewhere. I did miss them.

Call me pervy, but I did miss them.

* waggles eyebrows *

It’s no surprise that this book is about Wrath and Beth and her need for a kidlet. I abso...lute...ly loved how that played out.

I shall say no more.

Or I could say...

“It’s all about carrots!”

...Aaaaaand I could throw in a non spoiler quote, because duh!!

“I love you,” he said into her hair. “Forever.”

Even though I wanna say more.

iAm was my guy in this book. I abso...lute...ly loved him. He is such a cutie.

Lassiter too tickled my funny bone, but he tickles it each book he is in. He is just the BDB sidekick character that J.R lets loose with and has some awesome fun. I can tell how much fun she had writing him in this book.

* snort *

Lassiter is currently what I call a floating character, he just pops in and out as she pleases and makes me snort.

I could so see his scenes.

HA! HAaaaahahaaaa!

Lassiter is effortlessly, precious.

“What the fuck is that?”

At the sound of V’s voice, John turned with the rest of them... and when he saw what was up at the head of the grand staircase, he blinked once. Twice. Twelve times.

See, no spoiler from me. You will have to read to see what was at the top of that staircase.

“I didn’t bring enough tobacco for this,” V bitched.

I gotta say I laughed and laughed over a couple of pages.

I am a mega Fritz fan. The poor doggen just wants to do stuff. I need him to come over to my house. He can tidy up after the kids and be on cloud nine.

Fritz sprang into action, pulling open cupboards and drawers -- and she didn’t have the heart to tell him not to wait on her.

I tell ya, he puts Batman’s, Albert to shame.

“Fritz.”

The butler rushed over from the crudite arrangement he was working on. “Yes, master! I am eager to be of aid.”

Xcor - fan art
Xcor, I do really like you. You are a naughty BOB - Band of Bastard with your evil thinking, but I cannae help liking you. Not sure why I went Scottish there. You make me laugh with your old ways and... you do have a heart underneath all that cold exterior. I think you are quite hurt underneath.

“Knock her dead, my man.”

“Oh, no,” Xcor shook his head. “That shan’t be necessary. This one I like.”

HA!!

OOO, Ms Ward was throwing in some Miley C, snark. Loved it! Seriously if you can get your name several times in a BDB book, all the power to ya!

Starts thinking of ways to get J.R.'s attention.

Trez...ooo you let the cat out of the bag. I do love you too.

Sola and Assail, and grandma. HA! It takes a little ol’grandmother to be able to wear the pants. Love it!

She opened her mouth as if to argue, but she was headstrong -- not foolish. “Then I do the darning.”

“Our clothes are in sufficient shape --“

Ehric cleared his throat. “Actually, I have a couple of loose buttons.”

I got to say I do love Goddamn. What a pairing.

I kinda went, awwwwwwWWwww.

It’s very hard to write this review, without almost saying nothing and just going 5 STARS!! Read it! You won’t be disappointed. But, I write reviews, so I have to say stuff, so I am trying without spoilers.

Not as easy as you think because a lot of stuff was going on, back and forth in this book.

It isn’t bad ass thick and tall for no reason, people!

A very intriguingly paced read which made me laugh hard at times and it made me get a little choked up. Lots of pov’s being juggled around and more seeds dropped for future books which I am going to be really old by the time I get to read them all.

*sigh*

Bring. On . Number Thirteen.

Hell. Yeah!!

I kinda wish my life away on some authors, just to get to another book.

Read BDB , I highly recommend this series. The brothers are all something to behold.

Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of Lover At Last from the publisher. I am a HUGE fan of Black Dagger Brotherhood and have been very excited about reading Blay and Qhuinn’s book.

I was not disappointed.

I laughed, I got sad, I sometimes even got a bit distressed for some characters. Sometimes I was even saying to myself, ‘Is it getting hot in here?’

J.R will keep the different emotions flooding through your system. I even pulled an ‘awwwwwwwwwwww’ moment.

I will say J.R. Ward has not held back at all in the M/M department. I have loved these two lads since I met them, many books ago, and like so many other readers, we know how J.R. writes F/M , you can imagine how she writes M/M.

WOW! * mouth gapes open *

I am not well versed in the M/M department, but I have wanted Team Qhuay for as long as all the other BDB lovers and J.R was certainly going to give it to us straight.

Now I don’t want to hear anybody bagging this book if they don’t want to read what Qhuinn and Blay get up to, because these two boys love each other and holy mother of pearl, J.R. writes their scenes energetically and animalistically. I don’t think that is a word? ..too bad, I just made it as I am trying hard to think of how to explain it.

In other words , groowwwwwllllll, it is on fire!

There is passion, and it is very manly. I mean there is only so much plumbing so don’t read this book if you are going to get your panties in a tangle. There are no sweet pecks on the cheeks and only hand holding going on here, people.

This is raw M/M.

Furniture will be screeching across the floor.

These are two warrior dudes who are fighting each other to the very end with their feelings, so it will come out very growllly when they get it on.

I think it is exceptionally well written.

It is all in context to the ever loving painful drama these two boys put their hearts through. My heart broke a couple times with these boys.

"You've always said he's a great fighter. And I know things have been so hard on him -- like I told you the other night, that boy has been breaking my heart since the first moment I met him."

Qhuinn is such a gorgeous character. He just has to sort himself out. When Qhuinn is in protective mode, I was ducking for cover. The boy means business and he will show that turd who is boss, it is time to get out of the kitchen.

He was a great, fearsome protector, and that was precisely what a female needed when she was pregnant, nursing, or caring for a young. That and his innate kindness made him noble to her.

No matter the color of his eyes.

Blay is a beautiful guy, the things he does for Qhuinn.

*sigh*

I love the voices J.R gives her character’s , they leap off the page the way they talk.

But there is a lot more to this book too. Oh, yes! There are other character’s side stories being juggled about all slowly interweaving and I love what J.R. is giving us. It took me 5 days to read this badass huge book, because I refused to be in a hurry. I wanted to soak it all up. We only get a new BDB once a year so I was in no hurry to scream through this book. I am so glad I took my time as I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

There is a wonderful cat and mouse game being played out by a couple characters, looking forward to more of them.

And cat and mouse was very erotic, especially if only the cat knew the game was afoot.

..... He had to stop himself from purring.

“You’ve got no reason to follow me. Effective right now.”

“Mayhap I like the view.”As his eyes traveled down her body, another shock went through her, but not the anxious kind. “Yes , I find that I do.”

Lassister gets a peek in and he just makes me laugh every time he opens his mouth. I so want a Lassiter book. Or is he more the BDB sidekick?

“I’m here. Where’s my chauffeur hat?”

“Here , use mine,”Butch said, outing a B Sox cap and throwing it over . It’ll help that hair of yours.”

The angel caught the thing on the fly and stared at the red S. “I’m sorry , I can’t.”

“Do not tell me you’re a Yankees fan,” V drawled. “I’ll have to kill you, and frankly , tonight we need all the wingmen we’ve got.”

Lassiter tossed the cap back. Whistled. Looked casual.

“Are you serious?” Butch said.

“Yeah , watch yourself, angel,” V sneered. “We don’t like your kind.”

Lassiter shrugged, like the Brothers were nothing more than yappy dogs circling his ankles. “Is someone talking to me? Or is that just the sound of losing --“

Fritz, I so love this doggen. The poor love lives in fear of not having a job to do.

Fritz looked confused, and then slightly panicked. “But please, sires, you must join the others. I shall take care of this. This is my position within the household.”

..... Do you think he will let us wipe our own asses?” he said under his breath.

“Only if he doesn’t see us go to the loo.”

The Lesser’s are getting a pounding , sending them back to the Omega, but oh golly gosh ............that was a surprise.

Well, I am not going to tell you...read the book J

Xcor has me shaking my head at his world domination theories...well BDB domination, he is rather conniving.

I must say I like the poor scarred lad but he is getting his heart in a flutter.

From Lover Reborn we got a hint of a Beauty and the Beast storyline for the future. I am looking forward to seeing how that can even be possible.

Romeo and Juliet, move over.

The Band of Bastards, or BOB as I like to refer to them, have so much story in them it makes me excited, cause I KNOW we are getting loads more books. I can just tell. BOB and BDB boys have got some sorting out to do.

The BOB lads are rather fun to listen to with their cave man ways, bringing these boys into the 21st century will be fun.

“Yes, afore the others burst free of their wills and break into that fair cottage of hers.”

Oh mYyyyYyyy, ........

In that moment, Xcor thought of each of his fighters. Zypher , the sexual conqueror *raises eyebrow* . Balthazar, the thief. Syphon, the assassin. And the other one who had no name, and too many sins to count. So he was referred to as Syn.

Throe is an interesting BOB as he is more in the present and very intelligent and literate.

Lots of new storyline coming into play, the seeds being planted in this book.

Very exciting!!!

Trez and iAm, the Shadow brothers, I love Trez, he made me laugh a lot and iAm is such a nice brother. Trez is a bit of a lad and he has his own issues he is running from, he even becomes a bit tongue tied.

iAm , every time I say his name I think of WILL.I.AM from the Black Eyed Peas...hehe.

* rolls eyes *

I am so proud of J.R , she brought the bacon home to mamma in this book. Lover At Last is rich in energetic story line and even I had to turn the fan on. Don’t be shy, lol, the way J.R writes her two boys, you can’t help fan yourself.

Or was that just me...eeEEeeeeee.

And this is coming from an uber Nerd!

Take a bow J.R.

Booyahhh!!

Freakin' A!!

FAVE QUOTES:

Well isn’t that speeeeeeeeeecial.

“I’m not with anybody,” Qhuinn said.

Blay laughed again with an edge. “As in a relationship? Of course not. But do not expect me to believe that you’re spending your off time crocheting doilies and alphabetizing a spice rack with that female.”

As he hung up, he realized V had stopped talking and was looking over at him like maybe something was way off -- hair on fire, pants around the ankles, eyebrows shaved.

“You got yourself a female there, Qhuinn?” the Brother drawled.

Qhuinn looked around for a life raft, and got a whole lot of nothing. “Ah...”

“Wait!”

Z’s voice was a surprise . And so was the Brother’s arm shooting up and shoving Rhage to the side. “Will you get off me!”

“But I’m giving you CPR --“

“I will die before kissing you, Hollywood.”

“Actually ... I can’t,” Qhuinn mumbled.

V put his hand-rolled between his lips and extended his palm. “You got my Brother home in one piece. Fuck the rest of that shit.”

“Word --“

“Yeah, thanks be to God--“

“Hell, yeah --“

“Amen --“

“So tell me more about Qhuinn’s bravery. I love to hear you talk about him, you get so animated.”

“Fuck my cousin, it’s got nothing to do with him. If you were alone, I’d still be right on this carpet, on my knees, wanting to be with you. If you were mated to a female, if you were dating someone all casual and shit, if you were in a million different places in life ... I’d still be right here. Begging you for something, anything -- one time, if that’s all you’ve got.”

Gunmetal was forever the new black.

Layla was out of the bed and closing in on the pair of them -- and holy fucking shit, the look in her eyes was enough to melt paint off a car door : In spite of the fact that she was not well, her fangs were bared, and her fingers were curled into claws... and the icy draft that preceded her made the back of Qhuinn’s neck prickle in warning.

That growl was nothing that should have come out of a male ... much less a delicate female of Chosen status.

In the Old Language, she hissed, “If any harm shall befall him, I will come after you, and find you where you sleep. I do not care where you lay your head or who with, my vengeance shall rain upon you until you drown.”

That last word was drawn out, until its syllable was lost in more growling.

Dead silence.

Until Doc Jane said dryly, “Annnnd this is why they say the female of the species is more dangerous than the male.”

“Word,” someone muttered from out in the hall.

“Let me kiss you.” Qhuinn groaned as he leaned in. “I know I don’t deserve it, but please ... it’s what you can do for me. Let me feel you ...”

“I’m right here, “ he said. “Dad’s right here. I’m going nowhere. Just gonna wait until you’re ready to come out into the world, and then your mom and I are going to take care of you. So you hang tight, we clear?”

Hey everyone, welcome to our stop on the Blog Hop.

Big thankyou to the lovely ladies at :

Talk Supe
Under The Covers

For putting this hop together.
I am such a HUGE fan of J.R. Ward's writing .
After finishing Lover Reborn, I am just .......
..........well, here are my thoughts.

The Lover Reborn Kit

Kleenex

Glass of calming wine

Pillow for when you want to have a little sookie

TIME!!!

This book is over 4.5cm thick, the writing small, the book tall.

572 Pages to Savour

 LOVER REBORN by J.R. WARD

MICHELLE'S THOUGHTS

5 HOT TAMALE STARS!!!

I was blown away by how POWERFUL The Warden’s writing was in this instalment.

Tohr, lives up to his name of Tohrment. The poor love gets a right wringing out by The Warden. Some may be annoyed at how Tohr treats NoÓne. I get it. This hellren has been with Wellsie, his love, his mate, his shellan for two hundred years.....then it was ALL , plus some, taken from him. The pain the reader ‘feels’ for Tohr, is hard to read. He is all over the place. He is fighting within himself not to ‘feel’. He is expected to get his act together after such a great loss, after not a lot of time has passed. He can’t afford the time to live like he has been living ...... anymore.

DEVIANT ART - doyles-slave

We learn more about other relationships in this book.  I liked how The Warden dredges up emotion from the Brothers . They are strong, they fight to win, but when it comes to their Shellan’s......they often have a learning curve , a wall they must slam against until those bricks shift and start to fall .

Lassiter, do I love this guy. He adds humour and he learns a thing or two . He is a great addition to this series. I can’t wait to read more about him. I love his TV addiction.

The Band of Bastards.......oh there is another ten books in this series by including these boys. I can already see a book for Xcor and a book for Throe......and......

Funnily enough by the end of this book I was waving my flag for Xcor. The guy isn’t pulling the good looks, being the son of the Bloodletter, he has his ways about him.....but he has something that the reader sees....there is hope I think. No doubt it will be a gruelling path, and a massive wall to break down, but I am up for the challenge.

Deviant Art - Blaubeerstrauch90

Quinn and Blay.............. talk about walls..........* sigh*

This was a book I took my time reading, we know it’s a long time between books and I can see why. The amount of writing and emotion that is dripped through these pages, it’s worth the wait.
Oh and today I heard about the rumour mill and FB, book 11 is appearing to be Quinn and Blay's story.....fingers crossed.

BOOK REVIEW - LOVER UNLEASHED by J.R.WARD - BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD # 9

By : J .R. Ward
Published By : Piatkus
Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback,  489 Pages

RATING : 5 HOT TAMALE VISHOUS STARS!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, warrior cloth as her brother: A fighter by nature, and a maverick when it comes to the traditional role of Chosen females, there is no place for her on the Far Side… and no role for her on the front lines of the war, either.

When she suffers a paralyzing injury, human surgeon Dr. Manuel Manello is called in to treat her as only he can- and he soon gets sucked into her dangerous, secret world. Although he never before believed in things that go bump in the night- like vampires- he finds himself more than willing to be seduced by the powerful female who marks both his body and his soul.

As the two find so much more than an erotic connection, the human and vampire worlds collide … just as a centuries old score catches up with Payne and puts both her love and her life in deadly jeopardy.

BOOK REVIEW:

J.R . Ward, aka The Warden , does it again. She hits every one of my smexi nerves, she takes the reader where not a lot of authors can go successfully time and time again. Book after book 10/10, J. R. I bow to your gift.

I’m so glad J.R. wasn’t done with Vishous’s story. He still has so many layers to peel back and did she peel each layer painstakingly back. ‘Ouch’!!

I always felt there was something spesh about Manuel Manello. Built like John Cena . I was just waiting to be told. Oh dear Lord, did J.R. deliver with Manny and Payne. * fans oneself repeatedly*

Quinn...dear Quinn..... come on J.R. give the poor guy a break. He needs his story with .....

Butch... what a manly, strong, understanding, step up to the plate bat in hand ready to do what needs to be done, guy. Oh ! Be still my heart, his relationship with Vishous. Grab the Kleenex, let’s all sit in our pj’s and have a cry.

I did admittedly miss the other brothers and their smaller roles in the books.

I loved Manny , Vishous and Butch’s dialogue, straight up, in your face, take no crap that earns you respect.

Goodness me.... Xcor and Throe. J.R. knows how to step up the smexi, my eyes personally boggled...lol!!! The story line was sizzling like a piece of bacon.

The way J.R. is writing , I think book # 10 is going to bring a heat wave.

Hot Tamale alert!!!! Keep these books away from the younger chickens, only for the adults.

If you haven’t yet picked up a BDB book ( Black Dagger Brotherhood) then you are sorely missing out, seriously....just open up book # 1 ‘Dark Lover’ , and let the story course through your veins .....

Published By : Signet
Release Date : Available Now
Details: Paperback, 534 Pages

RATING: 4.5 STARS !!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

In this "frighteningly addictive" paranormal romance sage there's a war raging between vampires and their slayers. Here are the stories of a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now a dutiful twin must choose between two lives...

Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is obligated to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive, and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mater, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body, but his heart for herself. She is drawn to the noble responsibility behind the emotionally scarred male. But Phury has never allowed himself to know pleasure or joy. As the war with the Lessening Society grows grim, tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, and Phury must decide between duty and love....

BOOK REVIEW:

This is Phury's story. Now I have heard /read that it isn't the most favoured book out of the series, but!!!  I really enjoyed it.

Lots to be learnt and Phury , being so selfless/ celibate isn't to be mistaken with being boring. I have a lot of respect for Phury.

Phury and Cormia end up with a bit of a forwards 1 step , backwards 2 steps until they find their mojo.

Phury and his "Wizard" ( mental drug demon that sits on his shoulder telling him what he shouldn't be doing). Phury is an addict and his layers need to be peeled back to save him from himself.
Phury's selfless acts come back to mentally haunt him. Bella is his addiction. Always drawing her, then consuming her portrait in ivy leaves to cover her up. He has sunk as low as he can go. Even a Brother has a limit.

Rhev must do what he must do to keep Xhex and himself safe.

Scribe Virgin has placed Vishous in the Primale role much to his dispair. Phury to the rescue. I always knew from book #1 that the limited number of Brothers who weren't servicing the Chosen in the way that was needed to keep the brothers population growing was going to finally be an issue. A brother is needed to be the Primale, to take it for the team and service 40 Chosen to bring the bubs into the world to replenish the brothers so there are always warriors in the future to take on the Lessers and Omega. With Tohr awol, that's another man down.

Rules need to be changed for the Brotherhood to be around to protect the Vampire world . Agreements need to be reached.

The Omega is stepping it up with an enormous twist in the Lesser world.

Blaylock ...well ...POW!!!!!! Qhuinn is still a fave with his behaviour. I can't help smiling at Qhuinn. A bond is formed with Qhuinn and John, not to be broken. John Matthews is certainly coming into himself .

FAVE QUOTE:

Stress in a person was like air in a balloon. too much pressure, too much shit, too much bad news... and the birthday party gets messy.

ADDICTIVE READING!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

In Caldwell, New York, war rages between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Now the cold heart pf a cunning predator will be warmed against its will...

Ruthless and brilliant, Vishous, son of the Bloodletter, possesses a destructive curse and a frightening ability to see the future. As a pretrans growing up in his father's war camp he was tormented and abused. As a member of the Brotherhood, he has no interest in love or emotion, only the battle with the Lessening Society. But when a mortal injury puts him in the care of human surgeon, Dr. Jane Whitcomb compels him to reveal his inner pain and taste true pleasure for the first time-until a destiny he didn't choose takes him into a future that cannot include her...

BOOK REVIEW:

This is Vishous , 'V's story. You find out a whole lot about Vishous in this book.

'Zsadist' made me 'feel' for him in his story, 'Lover Awakened', but ,  Vishous life was horrendous.

There was one point in this book where I was up the river parked , sitting in my car reading , watching my kids in playground, Christina Aguilera slow song was playing on radio, maybe it was the song...but!! I just blubbered with poor 'V'.

Phury I respect even more after reading this book. He may be the quietly written Brother in the series but he is such a selfless , thoughtful character. Some readers may think boring, but I beg to differ.

I'm loving John and his two buds. They are great fun and I think will continue to be :D

I thought my eyes were boggling at the uber smexi scenes before I got to  book 5...OMG!!!! J.R Ward takes it up a notch. The thing I like about the smexi scenes is it's about the characters personality, not 'just because, or for the sake of it'. To be honest, I think this series could be written without the 'hot tamale' scenes and would still be brilliant books. Sure the 'hot tamale' scenes are ..well...wow!!! but!! that's not why I love these books. They are a part of the very male characters but not the whole story.

The characters are just awesomely ( if that's a word) written. The changing POV's . The 'POW's that you get are great. Wonderful 'POW' in this book, didn't see that one coming. J.R can one minute make you feel emotion that tugs at your heart and then the next you are bursting out laughing.

The characters layers get really peeled back.  The emotions J.R Ward makes you feel in each book are quite memorable. I'm in for the long haul with this series, they are very addictive.

The Vishous at the start of this series to the Vishous at the end of this book has come a long way:D

My top three guys are:

Zsadist - So sad to see his story, but so glad at the way he has come out of it.
Butch - Didn't really dig Butch at first but then he won me over, very loyal.
Vishous - I didn't think I would have put 'V' in there until I read his story...his pain ..wow!!!

RATING: 5 STARS !!!!
BUTCH AWESOME, LOYAL!! AND A BIT OF A NAUGHTY SMEXI TALKER IN THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York there's a war raging between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defender of their race. But now an ally of the Brotherhood is about to encounter his own dark desire...

Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard living, ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world to engage in the turf war with the lessers. He's got nothing to lose. His heart belongs to a female vampire, Marissa, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. If he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers...

Fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, he's found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls Marissa to bring him back. But even her love may not be enough to save him...

BOOK REVIEW:

I have to be very careful with my reviews now as it is going to be very difficult not to give anything away.

Butch!! Butch!! Butch!!!...WOW!!!  I am impressed. I wasn't overly before this book, but WOW!!!

The BFF / man love between Butch and Vishous is special. Loyal to each other beyond any of the Brothers. J.R Ward has created a great book here. Her imagination is wonderful to read.

Butch earned huge brownie points with me as the reader with his loyalty to the Brotherhood and his strength. J.R Ward just keeps surprising me with her storyline. 'POW'!!!!!! Lots revealed in this book.

Marissa maybe 300+ years old but dang somebody give that woman a book/manual....lol!!!

Havers , I am sorry J .R . but he really is a bag of annoyance. If you wanted him read that way, well bravo it worked:D

I love Zsadist has found his 'thing', something he is good at.
John is still feeling the loss and dealing, life outside the classroom isn't a whole lot of fun.

Butch's character really grows...in this book :)
There are some wonderful scenes between Butch and Vishous, emotional and eye boggling. Vishous begins to show us more.

Lover Awakened bk 3 and Lover Revealed bk 4 are my two fave books in series to date.

I don't know if my addiction can be cured, LOL!!
You gotta love J. R . Wards writing.

BOOK REVIEW - LOVER AWAKENED by J. R. WARD - BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD # 3

THE NEXT FANMADE CONTAINS MANY SPOILERS , WARNING!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS AN AWESOME CLIP.

By: J. R. Ward
Published By : Signet
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback , 434 Pages

RATING : 5 STARS!!  LOVED IT!! ZSADIST...SIGH!!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, a deadly turf war rages between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Of these, Zsadist is the most terrifying member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion and terror his only passion-until he rescues a beautiful female from the evil Lessening Society.

Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for each other begins to overtake them, Zsadist's thirst for vengeance against Bella's tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past and find a future with her.

"I was dead until you found me, though I breathed. I was sightless, though I could see. And then you came...and I was awakened."

BOOK REVIEW:

I absolutely loved this book!!! Zsadist character was just sooo well written. I knew I was going to love Z!!!!

Wow!! This is primarily Zsadist and Bella's book. I got a whopping POW!!! but I won't tell you where. I would have got more but I darn well was adding these youtube fanmade vids to my reviews and saw too much:(  But love the clever peoples who take the time to make them:D
Í love a POW!!!  I just did not see this one coming, well done J.R. Ward.  I always have theories when I am reading books and you totally got me!!!!

This book has real heartache in it. I was just about blubbering with a scene in this book. I just felt so....well....affected by this character.

I understand Phury more now, where as I was wondering a bit about him. Butch is quite funny in this book. I laughed out loud at a verbal between Phury and Butch.

Tohrment , John, Wellsie....sigh....great little family there. Love Tohr and Wellsie for their love of John:D.....sob!!

Mr O is out doing his horrendous thing and upping the stakes.
So far Book 3 is my fave. You learn a fair bit in this book.

The smexi is well...smexi but also not like the other books,  so to speak. There is so much more pain mentally this time. So much more emotion at stake. I could have cried for Zsadist, so many times.

John's character develops more . Stones are unturned. Life changes.

I would love to say sooo much more but it would ruin the story, so I will sign off and hope you enjoy the Black Dagger Brotherhood books as much as I am :D

BOOK REVIEW - LOVER ETERNAL by J. R. WARD - BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD # 2

By : J. R. Ward
Published By : Piatkus
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback, 441 Pages

RATING : 5 STARS HOT TAMALE READ WITH A DASH OF HOT SAUCE!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetite. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin.

Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him. When Mary Luce is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world, she must rely on Rhage's protection. Knowing that Mary feels the same intense animal attraction, Rhage must make her his alone...

BOOK REVIEW:

'Lover Eternal' is Rhage's story  . After getting on the bad side of the Scribe Virgin for being a bit of an ass, he was cursed to 200 years of the Beast ( dragon)  being a part of him. The Beast is great in a fight with Lessers, but not for Rhage as a vampire. You get to learn more about the boys their bonds what they will do for each other.

Wrath has woken up to his position and accepted it/welcomed it.

Mr X has placed Mr O answering to him. These are just boys that have been sort out for their violent ways to be suitable for giving their soul to join Lessers, to eradicate the vampires. More intel is collected from tortured civilian vampires , the brotherhood is being noticed.

Mary has found herself attracted to Rhage. She is very strong but also very weak. The brotherhood adore her, well most of them. Will she be able to fight her own personal war as well as Rhages.

Bella , Mary and John have found themselves caught up in the brotherhood.
John is one to watch * wiggles eyebrows*.

Butch has found himself in a rather unlikely situation and enjoying himself. You kinda feel like Butch in a way has been saved from himself and  friendships/bonds have been formed. Yay!! for Butch. I can't wait to see how his story plays out.

The gritty/violent/male/erotic world of J.R Ward is very addictive. I am holding my breath waiting for my next installment to arrive.
