BOOK REVIEW - LEGACY by C.J. DAUGHERTY - NIGHT SCHOOL # 2 - ATOM , HACHETTE - 3.75 STARS!!

By: C.J.Daugherty
Published By: Atom, Hachette
Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback , 385 Pages from Publisher for review. Thankyou!!

RATING: 3.75 TEAM SYLVAIN or am I TEAM CARTER??

Blurb: Goodreads

In the last year, Allie's survived three arrests, two breakups and one family breakdown. The only bright point has been her new life at Cimmeria Academy. It's the one place she's felt she belongs. And the fact that it's brought the dreamy Carter West into her life hasn't hurt...But far from being a safe haven, the cloistered walls of Cimmeria are proving more dangerous than Allie could've imagined. The students, and faculty, are under threat and Allie's family - from her mysterious grandma to her runaway brother - are at the centre of the storm. Allie is going to have to choose between protecting her family and trusting her friends. But secrets have a way of ripping even the strongest relationships apart...

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I was so excited to receive my copy of Legacy as I absolutely LOVED Night School # 1. I loved all the intrigue.

The book trailer above is so well done and it makes the book look very exciting .

I am going to be honest and say I enjoyed this instalment, but it wasn’t until the last 3 chapters or so, that this book was what I wanted it to be. Now I am just one person. One opinion.

I felt like not a lot of progress happened with the story. We got Carter and Allie and then we got Sylvain and Allie. I was all for Carter in book # 1, now...even though Sylvain was not a nice boy in book # 1, I am like Allie, all confuzzed about my team guy. I am swinging towards Sylvain, but then I feel sorry for Carter and then I feel sorry for Sylvain.

Let the tennis ball bounce back and forth.

Oh, dear, me!

I wanted so much more in storyline growth from this instalment. I really know no more than I did in the last book. Christopher is still pretty much a mystery to the ‘why’ of his joining the opposing team and ‘why’ they are the villains of this story. I am still none the wiser as to the ‘why’ of Nathaniel and ‘why’ he wants to take over. I’m kind of not totally clear on what he wants to take over. Maybe I just missed something??

I understand the rivalry. I think I get Night School. But I am a bit baffled as to why kids would not have any walkie talkie or communication when they are doing their rounds at night. Some poor bugger has to always go running off to get help, considering Gabe killed a girl in Night School # 1. It would be safe to say the boy has issues and is dangerous. They have nothing but their partner and training to keep them safe. Are they indeed safe? These kids aren’t Van Damme or Bruce Lee. The villains seem quite well equipped to do some serious damage.

I really liked the cloak and dagger of the dudes in suits. But I don’t really know much about them.

We finally get to meet Lucinda and she is whisked away. I wanted more from that relationship in this book. There is this mystery with Lucinda and her granddaughter.

The last 3 to 4 chapters were all fired up and I was like, yehaaaa this is what I have been waiting for. This book is worth reading for those chapters alone and to see how your heart will change with Sylvain. I love Sylvain now. I am just left with this triangle and who does Allie really trust?

There were trust issues, betrayal, breasts were getting a chilling down, some truth or dare, lusting, action, a moment where I went WT!! , mind games and a bit of sucking up. One thing is for sure Allie has got two gorgeous guys and she and I are left in quite the conundrum.

The sub characters were always fun to have around. Some new entries.

Catherine from the Book Parade , her review was how I mostly felt . Goodreads Review by Catherine. We enjoyed the book and the characters but not a lot of growth happened for a major portion of the story. But, we enjoyed it and are glad we read itJ

I am very much looking forward to book 3. Especially with what happened in those last few chapters.

O.M.G!!!

BLOG TOUR # 10 - CHARACTER INTERVIEW WITH JULES FROM AMY PLUM'S REVENANTS SERIES

I would like to welcome the gorgeous, flirtatious lad from Amy Plum's , Revenant series , Jules Marchenoir to Novels On The Run.

Do you know what, I am going to stop everyone right now...pause, scroll down and click on Twenty Girls Ago vid clip , turn the volume down to a reading volume ( wait around 50 secs for David's chat to finish ) and now continue reading this interview. I think it just gives this interview it's own mini soundtrack and the mood.... well, Jules picked the song....

The crew over at REVENANTS CENTRAL  Jayjay and Dea,  have put this tour together

Amy knows that out of all her guys, for some reason you really stood out for me. I have my own 5 words that describe you *wink*

Michelle:  What 5 words would you use to describe yourself?

Jules:  Smart. Talented. Handsome. Dashing. Humble.
LOL!! Handsome, Dashing but humble.....now that is a sandwich.....

Michelle:   What 5 words do you think Ambrose and Vincent would use to describe you?

Jules:  Ladies’ man. Jokester. Suave. Generous. Loyal.

Michelle:   Jules is pronounced ‘zhool’ kind of like jewel. Which is rather pretty and perfect, what type of jewel do you think you would be and why?

Jules:  Tiger’s eye. Why? I don’t know, because it’s the most masculine gem I could think of. *laughs and runs his fingers through his hair, amused*

Michelle: You seemed quite taken by Kate in ‘Die For Me’.
“I look beautiful,” I said in awe, looking up from the drawing to his serious face.

“You are beautiful,” he said, leaning over and kissing me softly on the forehead, before turning and striding out of the cafe. ( Die For Me)

Have you ever been in love? Or are you truly the guy you described yourself as , ‘I have several girlfriends that I see on rotation, just to make sure nothing gets too serious.’
Or is it just too hard to have a relationship with a human girl so this is a coping mechanism, quantity, not quality?

Jules:  I’ve been in love a thousand times. I fall in love with every woman I meet. Doesn’t matter what they look like, women just have this beautiful quality. They’re like the air I breathe—I need their beauty to survive. Why would I limit myself to enjoying only one? But if forced, I would have to admit that...yeah, Kate is pretty special. *looks away* Next question?
I've got to bottle that quote...."They're like the air I breathe - I need their beauty to survive...."

Michelle:   You are a wonderful artist. You have sketched Kate like a Botticelli Venus when you were chatting and errrr....flirting in the cafe. If you were to paint Kate the way you see her, what setting would you want paint her in?

Jules:  Well, thank you. *smiles his most dashing smile* I think Kate standing naked on a seashell clothed only in her long hair is pretty much the perfect setting for her.

*Takes a photo of that most dashing smile*
Michelle:   If you were to paint her the way Vincent sees her, what would the setting be?

Jules:  Well, I know Vincent is a great admirer of Modigliani’s reclining nudes. *smiles mischievously* But he’s so chivalrous with Kate, I could see him picturing her as the medieval lady to his valiant knight. Maybe on horseback. Nude. Just kidding.

A non nude example of his work
Modigliani's muse : Jeanne Hébuterne

Michelle:  What is the funniest thing you have ever done while possessing Ambrose?

Jules:  Well, I only possessed Ambrose once after he was stabbed by some numa near Denfert. But your asking me that question is giving me some great ideas! *rubs hands together*
hehe!

Michelle:   Your reanimation allows you to live a youthful life in appearance. What is the funniest joke you have come across in your Revenant life time?

Jules:  I’ll tell you, but you won’t be able to print it on your website.
...just whisper it to me, I have the best sense of humor...really.

Michelle:   What song would you think describes Kate and Vincent’s relationship in Die For Me?

Jules:  Say Yes by Elliott Smith

I love asking authors/characters the song question,
I hear such wonderful music I would never have found.
Michelle:   What song best describes yourself?

Jules:  Twenty Girls Ago by David Mead (plus it’s a good song to slow-dance to)

See now, this is why I ask for songs in my interviews.......I just want to dance.
I could so see this on the soundtrack of a Revenants movie........

............ Jules , would you like to dance..........?

Michelle:   What song best describes Ambrose?

Jules:  Zombie by the Cranberries. Just kidding. Ambrose loves jazz, so anytime I hear a Louis Armstrong song I think of him.

You mentioned it, I put it in..hehe!!

A little Louis down below

Louis Armstrong - C'est si bon (1962)

A little French tune.........my hips are swinging......
my leg is tapping.....

http://youtu.be/OFCS7kZwxug

Michelle:    I look forward to reading about you and the rest of the guys in ‘Until I Die’, due for release 8th May 2012. Can you give us one of your flirtatious quotes just to tie me over until I can read ‘Until I Die’?

Jules:  “I’ve got my priorities,” he said, running his fingers through his hair in a debonair gesture. “And keeping you alive, Kates, is a bit higher up on my list than a late date with a pretty signorina.”

Thankyou Jules for spending the time with Novels On The Run, I think my crush just got deeper....*sigh*

GUEST BLOG SPOT & 3 BOOK GIVEAWAY - ANDREA CREMER AUTHOR OF NIGHTSHADE SERIES

I would like to welcome ANDREA CREMER author of the NIGHSHADE series to Novels On The Run and thank her for her lovely guest blog spot. I thought a great topic would be the boys of the Nightshade series and Andrea's thoughts and fave quote from each of her books associated with her guys. So without further ado, take it away Andrea.....

Ah, the boys. I do love talking about them! Though Connor, Ethan, Ren, and Shay are very different from one another, something they share in common is the reason I adore them: with each guy there’s a lot more than what you get at first glance.

Actor pick: Jensen Ackles
Take Connor. He jokes and teases to the point of being annoying – maybe half his jokes are actually funny (sorry Connor), but inappropriate remarks and off-color jokes are simply another layer of armor for this warrior.  He uses humor to fend off fear and doubt, not only for himself but also for his companions. He’s fiercely loyal and deeply sensitive (though he would never admit it!).

Favorite Connor quote:

Connor shook his head. “I wouldn’t recommend it, Shay. Once you get past fifteen things start to poke in nasty ways any time you move.” (Wolfsbane)

******

Actor pick: Ryan Gosling
Opposite Connor’s jokester is Ethan’s straight man. Once upon a time, Ethan might have occasionally joined in Connor’s pranks, but since his brother Kyle was killed by the Searchers Ethan has adopted a classic sullen, brooding, bent-on-vengeance guise. Beneath his grief and rage, a funny, clever man remains, but it will take a serious intervention and a person with fire in their blood to melt the ice that surrounds Ethan’s heart.

Favorite Ethan quote:

He twisted away from Sabine, jumping to his feet, limbs shaking. “That…” His face took on a haunted cast as he stared at her, backing away. The expression dissolved into a scowl. “I didn’t want that.” (Wolfsbane)

******

Actor pick: Taylor Kitsch
Ren guards his true feelings by donning a bad boy attitude that most women find irresistible. Beneath his reckless, playboy ways Ren has a turbulent spirit, filled with doubt and fears he doesn’t want to face head on. Being the son of pack leader, Emile Laroche, is anything but easy. Emile is a brute who resents Ren rather than loving him as a father should. Emile’s abuse makes Ren desperate to prove himself as well as to claim what’s his.

Favorite Ren quote:

“This is only about love.” (Nightshade)

 ******

Actor pick: Chace Crawford
People often post Shay as the ‘good’ boy opposite Ren’s ‘bad’ boy role, but as boys go Shay is pretty naughty. Orphaned as a toddler and raised by his oft-absent Uncle Bosque, Shay is used to living independently. He doesn’t like rules so he’s happy to ignore them. His curiosity leads him to dangerous places, but his instincts and wit usually can get him out of a bad situation. Since he had no siblings or even long-time friends to curb him, Shay wears his heart on his sleeve and is unwilling to hold back his true feelings even when it might be safer to stay silent.
Favorite Shay quote:

““Ah. Too personal.” He raised his eyebrows. “The relationship of a girl and her favorite novel can be complex indeed.” (Nightshade)

Is true love worth the ultimate sacrifice?

Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there’s more at stake than fighting. There’s saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay’s wrath. There’s keeping Ansel safe, even if he’s been branded a traitor. There’s proving herself as the pack’s alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers’ magic once and for all. And then there’s deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is.

In the final installment of the Nightshade trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Andrea Cremer creates a novel with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat until its final pages. A dynamic end to this breathtaking trilogy.

BOOK REVIEW - WOLFSBANE by ANDREA CREMER - NIGHTSHADE # 2

By: Andrea Cremer
Published By : Atom, Hachette
Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback, 390 Pages

RATING : 4.5 REN, SHAY & CONNOR STARS!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

This thrilling sequel to the much-talked-about Nightshade begins just where it ended.Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemy, and she's certain her days are numbered.

But then the Searchers make her an offer, one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack and the man she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.

BOOK REVIEW:

‘Nightshade’ left me rather confused about Ren and Shay. What I mean was my personal feelings towards who is my Team guy. NOW, Andrea has added Connor. I love Connor, he is so playful, yet ready to act when called upon. I know he isn’t for Calla, but I think he is rather a gorgeous character.
Wolfsbane, was a lot different to what I was expecting. Andrea takes the reader behind the scenes with the ENEMY, the Searchers. The Guardians are led to believe the Searchers are the enemy in Nightshade. We discover in Wolfsbane that the Keepers have been telling a bag full of porky pies. All is SO not what it seemed. I really enjoyed meeting the different Searcher characters. Me thinks cranky Ethan may be ogling a certain somebody.
Andrea certainly flipped the storyline for us and opened up all these wonderful new places she can take us.
We don’t get a lot of Ren, which was kind of sad, but the storyline was presented to us in a way that he didn’t fit into a lot of the book. Shay was in the forefront in this book. I would like Shay, and then sometimes I did wonder about some of the things that came out of his mouth. He definitely knows he has competition with Ren and Calla’s feelings for him.
I know readers have a concern with Andrea’s wolves shifting back to human with their clothes intact, but I do get it. This is more a magic thing. Not a werewolf, Twilight style wolf. They are shifters and it’s a magical thing. Not a bone crunching, cracking, painful thing. More a I dream of Jeannie style blink, and you are a wolf, blink and you are a human. Well, without the blink, ha!
Hehe! There would have been some red faces the amount of times Calla did her shifting if she was in the nuddy. Imagine that girl having a supply of clothes handy. Guys can do with a lot less. We are talking bras, knickers......put the bra on take the bra off...like seriously, who needs that.
I loved the new characters and sub characters Andrea has brought in. The more the merrier I say. There is more a magical feel now to Andrea’s Nightshade series. Visually this series now would make great movies. Wolfsbane had a lot more visually interesting scenes and a bit of snarky thrown in.
Oh and that ending.........Calla, Calla, Calla, you better have a bag full of excuses ready for that one.... considering.
This book is a great introduction into the Searchers life, throw in some snarky, witty dialogue, love, lust , magic, loss, heartache, bravery, discovery, action and I am still confused about where I stand with Ren and Shay. My heart says Ren, but I just don’t know. I may end up settling with Connor, he seems a lot less intense and although he is hiding his own pain, he seems the less complicated choice at the moment.
Trust me things are going to be complicated with this triangle of love in Bloodrose.
I shall get my hands on Treachery , the novella before I head on over to Bloodrose shortly. Oh the tangled web we weave.......

BOOK REVIEW - NIGHT SCHOOL by C.J. DAUGHERTY - 4.5 STARS!!!!

By : C.J. Daugherty
Published By: Atom Books
Release Date: 2ND FEBRUARY 2012
Details : Uncorrected Proof, Paperback, 456 Pages

Thankyou to Atom for this early read!

RATING: 4.5 MOODY CARTER STARS!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

Sometimes school is murder.

Allie Sheridan's world is falling apart. She hates her school. Her brother has run away from home. And she's just been arrested.
Again.

This time her parents have finally had enough. They cut her off from her friends and send her away to a boarding school for problem teenagers.
But Cimmeria Academy is no ordinary school. Its rules are strangely archaic. It allows no computers or phones. Its students are an odd mixture of the gifted, the tough and the privileged. And then there's the secretive Night School, whose activities other students are forbidden even to watch.

When Allie is attacked one night the incident sets off a chain of events leading to the violent death of a girl at the summer ball. As the school begins to seem like a very dangerous place, Allie must learn who she can trust. And what's really going on at Cimmeria Academy.

BOOK REVIEW:

New series alert!!
( flashing red light)

“Never be afraid to be honest.”

This is the series to look out for. I received this book from Atom and I knew I was going to like it. I love a good Academy book. Cimmeria Academy ( I need me somebody to tell me how to pronounce it!) has mystery , murder and some mayhem and boys, boys, boys!!( so very important, hee..hee) and of course the bitchy girl...you have to have a bitchy girl, they can be so much fun to read.

Night School is a little slow at first , but then the rip cord has been pulled and there is this constant urge to turn pages and find out what is going on with the characters and Cimmeria Academy.

Now, the jury is still out on if this is a paranormal series and Ms. Daugherty has left me guessing for sure. You have to read this book to see what I mean. There are hints or suggestions but I am still mystified as to what we are playing with here. This is not a bad thing. Or am I reading too much into it. Don’t be fooled by the title, it may not mean what you think...or does it? I have my suspicions, but.......

We have Sylvain, the French dude who is from an uber, uber, uber rich , old, powerful family, we are talking Billions here. Now, he doesn’t mind the ladies but, he has zoomed in on our main gal Allie, Alyson Sheridan. Why?

All is not what it seems.....

Enter Carter West, moody, ( Bingo! I always love a moody guy, because eventually when that moodiness drops...*sigh*...the goods are revealed), cranky, yet poetic, he also gets a fair bit of detention. Bad boy image, but is he?

Gabe is the current squeeze of Jo ( she has a rather interesting character) , he and Carter aren’t buds but they have a common ground at the Academy.

Isabelle is the Head Mistress of Cimmeria and there are a lot of secrets within the walls of the academy. There is no 21st Century within it’s walls. No laptops, Ipods. Pen, paper and a desk ( which comes in rather handy) are all you need and rules, lots of rules to keep the secrets, secret.

Lots of great sub characters to get to know, Lucas, Jules, Ruth, Phil, Lisa, some skinny dipping peeps....ha!

Allie is a bit of a rebel, she has her reasons and she is hurting on the inside. Christopher, her brother who she was very close to has disappeared. Allie spirals out of control... 3 arrests later and her parents just happen to choose Cimmeria to send her off to.

Allie is a bit of a mystery to the other students at Cimmeria, trust is a big issue and she finds herself lifting the lid on things she should have left well alone. I love her flaws and the way she counts everything when feeling like she may be losing it or a panic attack is on the horizon. Allie’s character starts to grow, mature in this book, take charge of her life and not be so damaging. Trouble follows her in this book at every turn, but she is learning.

Sylvain is a very secretive and alluring character at first......but..... then needs a ‘stinky dead fish’ slap from me, but then.....something changes. Is it possibly genuine regret?

I just love Carter and Rachel. Carter is my Team T-shirt guy.

I am rather desperate for book 2 as there is this mystery still left open. I think this party has only just got started and I want another all access pass.

Trust is a bit of a dirty word in this book and the secrets.......just don’t be caught telling them!

An awesome start to this series.... my mind boggles where it will be going as there is mystery, mystery, mystery....

FAVE QUOTE:

“Has anybody ever mentioned you’ve got an exaggeration problem?” he said.

“No,” Allie replied. “Anybody ever mention you’ve got a dickhead problem?”

BOOK REVIEW - THE GATHERING by KELLEY ARMSTRONG - DARKNESS RISING # 1

By: Kelley Armstrong
Published By : Atom
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback, 359 Pages

RATING: 4 DANIEL & RAFE STARS!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

Sixteen-year-old Maya is just an ordinary teen in an ordinary town. Sure, she doesn't know much about her background - the only thing she really has to cling to is an odd paw-print birthmark on her hip - but she never really put much thought into who her parents were or how she ended up with her adopted parents in this tiny medical-research community on Vancouver Island.

Until now.

Strange things have been happening in this claustrophobic town - from the mountain lions that have been approaching Maya to her best friend's hidden talent for "feeling" out people and situations, to the sexy new bad boy who makes Maya feel . . . . different. Combine that with a few unexplained deaths and a mystery involving Maya's biological parents and it's easy to suspect that this town might have more than its share of skeletons in its closet.
In The Gathering, New York Times best-selling author Kelley Armstrong brings all the supernatural thrills from her wildly successful Darkest Powers series to Darkness Rising, her scorching hot new trilogy.

BOOK REVIEW:

I really enjoyed ‘The Gathering’, the first book in the ‘Darkness Rising’, series. From the first chapter Kelley has you turning the pages, it is an easy read which I knocked off in one sitting. I loved the girl on the book cover, I could really see her as Maya. I would love to see what Rafe and Daniel look like.

I have only read Kelley’s, ‘Darkest Powers’, trilogy and that was quite awhile back, I was eager to get started on her new YA series. I must admit to this day I still think there was a fourth book in the ‘Darkest Powers’, series, but hey that’s just me.

I have just realised that Darkest Powers trilogy and Darkness Rising trilogy , Kelley will be joining 2 groups of characters from both trilogys into last book in Darkness Rising trilogy. Should be fun to read.

Kelley’s characters are very likable. Daniel, Maya’s bff, is a worthy contender for a love triangle. Daniel is the loyal, dependable guy , can read Maya like a book , will he be more than bff status in Maya’s life? It feels like Maya match makes for him so she doesn’t have to admit her own feelings for Daniel? You can see how much he cares for her. I do worry about his feelings.

Rafe is the guy the girls will drool over. Is he trustworthy, do we really care...he is the bad boy, we love a bad boy, but... can he read Maya like a book?

I love both guys and I can feel that tug of emotion for them like I did with Christophe and Graves, in Lili St. Crow’s series , ‘Strange Angels’....I am still torn. I feel like this is how I am going to feel with Rafe and Daniel.

I love Marv and Fitz. I have my eye on Marv, there’s something....hmmmm...I’ll wait and see.

The supporting characters have a bit of a mystery about them, I may be wrong...but there is something there.

‘The Gathering’ is setting us up with character profiles and has us wondering who we can trust..... the island and the St. Cloud’s, what is really going on? Kelley gives you a taste of what will come in the sequels. There are a few questions you are left wondering about the answers , that’s what a sequel is for, to answer them. Her ending , leaves you hoping you can get your hands on an Arc of ‘The Calling’, as it’s one of those endings......you just want to have all 3 books lined up to read one after the other...but ...not this time, it's early days.

I think ‘The Calling’ is going to be fast paced, filled with action if the ending of ‘The Gathering’, is anything to go by. 'The Gathering',  got to feverish pitch by the end....so now I wait.....let this fever fester until I can read more.

INTERVIEW WITH AMY PLUM AUTHOR OF 'DIE FOR ME'

I would like to welcome Amy Plum to Novels On The Run and thank her for taking the time to answer some questions and for writing such a gorgeous book with a lot of heart and soul.

Amy's debut novel 'Die For Me' ( Revenants # 1) will be released May 10th 2011. I highly recommend it. I had a great time chatting with Amy, she is very sweet and approachable and look forward to reading more of her work. Currently there will be 3 books in the series.

INTERVIEW

Michelle: Congratulations Amy on your debut novel , ‘Die For Me’.
Where is the first place you will go on May 10th to see your book on the shelf for sale to the public?

Amy: Well, if I drive 45 minutes from my house, there is 1 English bookstore in Tours, but it’s teensy-tiny and I doubt they will have it. So I could drive 3 hours to Paris and go to W.H. Smith to see it. And if I get inspired, I might just do that. But I think I’ll have a Parisian friend send me a photo instead!

Michelle: How will you celebrate on the day it is released?

Amy: I had thought about going to Paris ahead of time and shooting a homemade video that I will put on the Internet the day of the release. That way all of my family and friends and readers all over the world can celebrate with me!

Michelle: All the boys in your book are gorgeous. Jules stands out as he is so unashamedly flirtatious. If you could go on a date with flirtatious Jules, where do you think he would take you?

Amy: Jules would probably take me to an art opening. The exhibition of some new, hot artist in a trendy gallery with a crowd of beautiful people—half of whom he has probably already dated.

Michelle: Will you keep a scrapbook of your debut for your family to reflect on their mum ‘living her dream’?

Amy: *laughs/blushes* Living my dream. Well, that’s definitely what I’m doing right now. But I have actually already lived a lot of dreams in my life. I keep a record through my writing, though, not really through objects. Ever since my mom’s death, things...objects...have seemed very impermanent (and unimportant) to me.

I keep scrapbooks of my kids’ stuff just so they’ll have something from their childhood when I’m gone. I have the baby book that my mom made for me, and it’s the only link I have with my early childhood.

But I fully expect my kids to achieve more than I do. To have lives that are so exciting and creative and productive that my own achievements will pale in comparison.

That said, I have kept one of each of my ARCs, the first run of the American cover, and other memorabilia for when I’m sitting there pinching myself thinking, “Is this all real?” Which happens pretty often.

Michelle: By now you would have met via twitter or blogs or other media, passionate fans of your book. I think I was in there somewhere..lol!!
How does is feel to meet the more passionate fans?

Amy: It feels great! To know that other people love my characters as much as I do. To see people getting swept away by a story that I wrote. And then to see that story take on a life of its own, with people writing what they think about it, making videos about it, discussing it with other people. Knowing that something that I wrote is entertaining so many people—making them react and respond—it’s truly an incredible feeling.

Michelle: What 5 words describe how it feels to call yourself a published author?

Amy: I feel...Awestruck. Grateful. Honored. Ecstatic. Inspired (to do more!)

Michelle: What is one piece of advice you would tell an aspiring author.

Amy: Read a lot. Write a lot. Get critiques from several people of diverse backgrounds. Do not despair. (That’s 4 pieces of advice, but there you go.)

Michelle: I really enjoyed Die For Me and can’t help thinking I would love a spinoff of Ambrose. Leaping forward 3 books and a couple years, is a spinoff a possibility as you really laid the foundations for all your characters, making me personally want to know more about them at some stage. I picked Ambrose as I hope he gets together with Charlotte. ( the matchmaker in me)

Amy: That would be so much fun. In my mind, I know all about the characters, where they came from, what they were like. I know their past, but I don’t know their future (beyond Book 3). So it would be fun to do historical spin-offs, leading up to the present. Ambrose’s past is incredible – what a hero.

Michelle: Thank you Amy for such a wonderful story, so beautifully written and for taking the time to chat and just quietly I do hope it gets made into a movie as it will be visually breathtaking..... oh err...the scenery will be too...hee..hee

Amy: Thank you for inviting me to interview, Michelle! And who knows if a film will be made. But, as a cinephile, it would be amazing to see my characters brought to life on film. I have already seen it all in my head. Viewing it on screen would be incredible.

We wish Amy all the success with her debut novel. It has been added to my list of favouriteYA books.
