Just Joy

I’ll here admit it: Life is tough.
Some days I think I’ve had enough.
Although I know it’s all been planned.
It’s hard to get the upper hand.

When circumstance goes ‘gainst the grain,
And daily drudgery does drain,
I hearken back, which takes a choice,
To listen to another voice.

 Ridiculous as it may sound,
Truth is, the downcast will be crowned.
When wrong’s removed and right is raised,
I know who will be ever praised.

Today is hard. There is no doubt.
I’m tempted to prolong my pout.
But I will hold my ground, prevail.
For happiness to joy does pale.

Man Alive!

Happy Easter … from Nickers and Ink. Hope is alive.

No more may death bring fear and woe;
The Lord is risen. This we know.
His borrowed tomb
Does yield its room,
So off to tell the world we go.

Our eyes deceive us, if we doubt.
We cover truth to capture clout.
But deep delight
Awaits our sight –
May mine match Mary’s, here on out.

Hero Worship

Hero Worship

My Champion, Defender strong –
Does carry forth from turmoil’s throng
My feeble frame. He sets my soul
In places peaceful, lovely, whole.

When I one step no more may take,
He lifts my head. Make no mistake.
I’m confident my Confidante
Excels all else that I may want.

His mighty power, mercy mild
Will carry home this trusting child.
Oh, may I rest within His wrap
Until He leads the final lap.
