Monday, Memos, Mail and Me - on Tuesday!

I started this post yesterday but couldn't get the photos off my phone, so I'm trying again today. Sometimes life feels a bit drab and there is little to say but this week I have a few things to share.

I've finished this pair of socks.
started a memory blanket with leftover wool
 treated myself to this book
went out for a delicious Indian meal, the starter was my favourite bit
walked along the harbour in lovely spring weather which has unfortunately disappeared now
and made a few cards using Pinterest for inspiration.

I've also been doing a little scrapbooking, a lot of reading and I'm revisiting Downton Abbey from the very beginning, not a bad way to while away the hours.

waving to Sian and wishing you all a good week x

planning ahead

This year yet again I've told myself to make cards when the mood takes me and not in a mad panic the day before the event. So I got out a favourite stamp set, mama elephant freestyle florals and made three cards. I used some Inktense pencils for two of them and dusted off a set of water colours for the third and really enjoyed the process. I can happily tick off three birthdays as done.

I now have to challenge myself to make three cards for the men in my life.

a few cards

It's been a long time since I felt like doing any craft but when I saw this card by Nichol Magouirk I couldn't resist having a go.

The same for this card which I saw over on Kristina Werner's blog, very simple but I enjoyed  making a few.

Now it's time to think of some scrapbook layouts before I forget how!

a few more cards

DSC00789

DSC00792

Still need to make a few cards? Then I can recommend http://www.clearlybesottedstamps.com/ for inspiration. Stephanie Wincott has some beautiful cards using their stamps and dies and I spent a pleasant few hours making several. I think I’m all done now so it’s back to my ripple blanket and a Christmas film for me.

a little bit of me time

DSC00760

I took a few hours off to relax and make some cards, I love this little stamp set I bought recently

DSC00728

I also revisited an old Shimelle class and made this layout, the journalling is behind the title

and knitted some cute little stockings from a free pattern on Little Cotton Rabbits blog

I hope you’ve all had time to relax and make something during this busy time

Only 10 weeks!!

DSC00620

I was told today it was only about 10 weeks until Christmas, scary thought. So I thought it was about time I started to make a few cards, after all I don’t want that usual last minute panic.

A Christmas Sparkle and Sweet Little Sentiments stamp set left by my daughter to encourage me to stop being so lazy were opened up and after a lot of huffing and puffing, mainly because I stamped the tree upside down to start with, these three cards were made. I like the simplicity of the design found on the Clearly Besotted website and can see me making more cards using this little tree.

enjoying the peace

DSC00602

As the weather turns a bit cooler and the nights draw in I’ve been enjoying watching the television again and starting my coastal ripple blanket. Somehow I feel less guilty watching the likes of Downton Abbey and Our Zoo if I’m making something.

DSC00600

I’ve also made a couple more cards from the Online Card Class. They never turn out as the examples, I’m far too messy, but I enjoyed making them.

seems like such a long time

DSC00565

The summer for me is a time for family visits, walks by the sea and long lazy afternoons reading in the garden. It seems like months since I’ve got anything craft related out. At the moment I feel like I’ve forgotten how to scrap so I thought I’d revisit an online card class and make a few cards to ease myself gently into the process. Thanks to http://limedoodledesign.com/ and http://www.nicholmagouirk.typepad.com/ for the inspiration.

a few cards

I’m not getting much craft done at the moment but last week I made a few cards ready for some birthdays

SDC18256

SDC18243

SDC18250

The top two were made using an old Simon says Stamp kit I bought very cheaply. In answer to a question from Louise I got a while ago, these kits are very good value especially when your daughter buys them!

The bottom cards were from an online class I took using stencils, again this stencil was borrowed from my daughter, I’m so lucky she shares the same hobby as me.

time with my daughter

SDC17961

Jenny brought over her Simon says Stamps kit yesterday and we had a few hours to play. The one card we finally made was this one following Nichol Magouirk’s tutorial here. I got a bit carried away with my flowers but really like the card!

Our attempts with stencils and embossing paste were not so successful and very messy, will have to keep practising I think.

Christmas is coming!

I thought it was time to accept the fact that Christmas is just around the corner and start  making some cards.

SDC16094

I started by buying a digi stamp from here and made these simple cards.

SDC16098SDC16099

I had seen some lovely cards on this blog which I tried to copy using inks I had on hand, not quite in the same class but I had a go!

SDC16102

A little cardigan for my granddaughter is ready, well I need to sew one button on and some red wool has been ordered ready to make another one.

I’m also looking out a Christmas Pudding recipe ready to make this week and soon my Christmas CD’s will be busy annoying everyone, I am getting in the festive spirit it seems.

making cards

I don’t know why I struggle so much with cards but they seem to take a lot longer to do than a layout. I spend ages searching the internet for inspiration and I’m so thankful a lot of very clever people are willing to share their creations.

I made these two cards yesterday having returned to my favourite blog for ideas http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/
