my month in numbers

I’ve long followed Julie's my month in numbers posts and thought it would be fun to join in this year.

January

I love Nigel Slater’s way of cooking and enjoyed reading his year in the kitchen.

a gripping tale

2 scrapbook classes started

a new class about journalling http://www.journalofcuriousthings.co.uk/2012/12/telling-tales-new-scrapbooking-class.html

and revisiting Pretty Paper Party by Shimelle

3 hats knitted

210 miles driven to help look after mum

1lb of weight lost – very poor I know!

2 box sets watched

The last series of House         71-MdfL7RYL__AA1500_

and the first series of Borgen 81RJfzv9P4L__AA1500_

I could add the number of days stuck in the house because of snow or the number of times I threw up in the toilet, but I’m sure you don’t want to know that!

Olympic Torch

On a miserable grey day it’s nice to remember events from last summer. I scrap lifted Glitter Girl’s latest layout for my page.

winter hats

SDC16365-001

I’m really enjoying knitting these hats and using up some odd balls of wool.

I found this pattern at my mum’s. I love that it has Freda’s name on it, an old friend of my mum’s who has been dead for many years, it brings back memories just seeing that.

and this is the pattern I’ve been using if anyone fancies having a go.

winter blues

SDC16346

Having woken up to snow yesterday I’m finding all my energy is taken up with keeping warm. It does mean I’ve been reading a lot, always a good thing but I really need to get myself going.

I have 10 more pages of my Christmas Journal to complete which I’m planning to do this week and I’m also revisiting an old Shimelle class, Pretty Paper Party which will hopefully inspire me to move away from the fire for a while!

better late than never!

I’ve been absent for a few days looking after my mum who has been very ill. My sister and I are taking it it turns to go home and have a break as it can be very tiring!!

The one thing I did want to do however while I am back home was my Storytelling Sunday post as it’s something I really enjoy doing. This year Sian has suggested picking something precious to you and telling the story behind it.

SDC16343

I’ve been told I’m like a mother hen, never happier than when I can gather my children under my wings, so you can appreciate how hard I found it when my eldest decided to go to university, the first one to leave the fold. My husband bought me this little bear, he’s called Dave, to keep as a reminder of our son

and so with tears in my eyes and instructions on how to survive without mummy to look after him, I watched him drive away, but as he said

“ Mum, it’s about time I left home and I will be able to manage, after all I am 25yrs!!!”

Do go and read more stories over on Sian’s blog here

Happy New Year

Christmas is over for another year, it’s been a busy but happy one here.

SDC16309

One nasty person bought us all a game where the person with the slowest reaction received an electric shock, needless to say I only played it once!

SDC16301

One little girl was well and truly spoilt.

SDC16285

the food was enjoyed by all, I hope!

SDC16320

We were able to get out for walk

tSDC16336

and we survived our poor little house being taken over for a few days.

A few tears have been shed as the family return to their homes and we get used to the quiet again.

I hope you all had a lovely time.
