Hello!
I'm going to jump straight in today and say I can't do galaxy nails. The fact I've only actually tried them once, about three years ago is irrelevant. It was a fail and I shelved the idea and never tried again. Galaxy nails are so pretty, I "ah" every time I see one, traditional or pastel, and I think to myself I really should try that again someday. But in the back of my mind I still have the fail and a little niggle that says don't even go there. So I don't try. But now, along comes a polish that does it all for me, in one little bottle! Picture Polish Illusionist is a beautiful glittery multi-chrome polish with just the right amount of holo glittery flakies running through it to make it twinkle like the night sky. So. Beautiful. As multi-chrome polishes tend to be, this is sheer so I layered two coats over Sally Hansen Navy, Baby so you can see the full shift from pink to purple, blue and turquoise, and even a rusty red at the extreme end (which you can see in the underwater pic at the end). I combined it with a silver accent nail and some simple white stamping. But the Picture Polish is the real star of the show.
Stunning! I nabbed my bottle from the wonderful Sally Magpies when there was a sale, but even though it's back to full price now I suggest you grab it because it wont be in stock for long!
Maybe next time I wear it I will attempt some galaxy art over the top...or maybe I'll wimp out and just admire it instead!

GOT Polish? Orange!
Hello!
This week's Golden Oldie Thursday is bought to you by the colour orange! The orange in question is Nails Inc Hampton Court Palace Gardens. I teamed it with some OPI Pure Nail Lacquer Apps that I've had hanging around for a while and China Glaze Riveting in a simple reverse glitter gradient. The apps were quite simple to use, but I had a mare with this manicure and spilled polish everywhere (bye bye cute new jumper that I'd only worn twice), so it didn't last long although I really loved it.
When I googled to check if I needed to topcoat the apps, the press picture showed them as pink with yellow peacock feathers, but they most definitely aren't pink! How odd, but I love them anyway. You might have noticed I have a little thing for peacock feathers ;)

Holla On Top - Lacquerdaisical holo topcoat
Hi!
The lovely Alexia from Lacquerdaisical recently sent me two of her new holo polishes to try, the first being this awesome holo topcoat. I'd been thinking about getting one for a while but was worried about it affecting the base colour I wanted to holofy (totally a word) too much, so I was excited to give this a try. I've been jonesing for a baby pink holo for a while, so I knew what I had to try first - Holla On Top over OPI Pink Friday to create this perfectly pretty pink holo. As you can see, it didn't turn the base too grey, and just gave a lovely, holo finish. I love this combination!
Just how perfect? Next, I thought a good way to show it off would be some bright skittles! Any excuse for a skittle ;) Red holo in particular is hard to get without ending up slightly pink or slightly grey, but this is holo perfection. I used one coat over Barry M Blood Orange (red), Nails Inc Baker Street (blue), Barry M Mango (orange) and Orly Lucky Duck (green).
It barely affected the base colour at all, and I just love love love it! It has the perfect density of holo pigment - not too much that it masks the base colour, but not too little that you don't get that all important magic rainbow. Win!
Lacquerdaisical Holla On Top (and all of Alexia's other polishes) are available from her Facebook page.

Tri-Polish Tuesday - red, orange and yellow #4 - glassy gradient
Hi!
Last TPC of the month, so the last with these colours and to be honest I'm glad! These are not my colours! Yellow is the colour polish I have the least of, and coming up with ideas has been a struggle. I'm looking forward to next months colours, pink, grey and brown, but until then here's my last January effort.
I used completely different polishes this time around - all glass fleck - in a pretty gradient which I then stamped over. I used Color Club Daisy Does It (yellow) as the base, and then sponged Zoya Tanzy (orange) and Barielle Elle's Spell (red) to make the gradient. The stamps are from BM208, and I think it looks like stained glass. I'd love to do this again with different colours from the Color Club Take Wing collection.
I'm excited because I'm getting a hair cut today! It's badly needed after the summer purple ombre I had has gone green and left my hair in poor condition. It's going to be quite a change so if you're interested, look out on my Instagram!

Introducing Lacquerdaisical!
Hi!
I'm so excited to introduce you to a new UK Indie brand today! Lacquerdaisical polishes (love the name!) are hand made by lovely Alexia, and she contacted me recently to ask if I would give them a try. At the moment her range includes glitters, toppers, thermal polishes and a glow in the dark texture polish - how could I say no?! I have the thermals to show you today, and I hope you love them as much as I do! (Be prepared for an onslaught of pictures!)
The first polish I had to get on my paws when I tore into the package like a savage beast was Jaffa Fake, a brown to orange thermal with a gorgeous purple shimmer. How clever is the name? And the polish is just as genius! When it's cool it's a stunning chocolate brown, with fine purple shimmer running through it adding tonnes of depth and interest. Then once it warms up it shifts to a delicate orange, still showing the shimmer, and just looks good enough to eat! I had lots of fun running my fingers under hot and cold water, bumpung my nails against radiators and cold drinks and even putting my hands in the oven and the freezer! Don't try that at home! It's just such a fun polish!
Once I'd finished risking third degree burns, I had to stamp over it, and it was so pretty!
Of course, I had to get the stamping gear out again!

Once I'd finished risking third degree burns, I had to stamp over it, and it was so pretty!
The other thermal is Purple Phase, a stunning deep aubergine with violet shimmer when cold, which transforms into a stunning grey-blue when it warms up. The shimmer in this is just stunning when it's warm, leaving such a delicate sheen in contrast to the dark cool colour.
Of course, I had to get the stamping gear out again!
The formula on these was quite thick, but not at all gloopy and I had no trouble with application. I used three coats and there is still a fair bit of visible nail line underneath in the warm state. If this bothers you (to be honest, it didn't bother me at all and usually I'm not keen on VNL) you could wear a nude shade underneath, or a colour close to the colour of the polish when it's warm and it wont affect the thermal aspect at all. They dry matte, but Lacquerdaisical recommends base and top coat, and I would as well! These polishes are such a lot of fun, and I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of them!
At the moment, Alexia is selling Lacquerdaisical polishes through the Facebook page, priced at just £2.50 for a 5ml bottle or £6 for 15ml. Please go and check her out! I'll have more to show you over the next week or so, starting with an AWESOME glow in the dark texture polish on Friday!
