Studs and Roses

Hi!

I was in the mood for roses, and I won some of Mr Barry M's new matte polishes from the lovely Lane's Laquers, so I decided to combine the two and throw some studs at it for good measure! I used Vanilla and Espresso, stamped with Konad Black and plate BM 323 for the roses. The stripes were freehanded and came out somewhat thicker than I wanted, and none of it was topcoated to keep the matte effect. But this also meant that 6 out of the 8 studs pinged off while I was getting my eyebrows threaded...

I don't know, but it kinda reminded me of Robyn Thicke when Miley Cyrus ground her rubber clad but against his groin. Not pleasant. I liked it enough but it didn't last the day... Vanilla is going to be a favourite though. What do you think?

Adventures in Stamping - Favourite flower

Hi!

The first Adventures in Stamping Sunday challenge was to base your mani on your favourite flower. My favourite are daffodils (hurry up spring!) but I don't have a daffodil image in my plate collection (is there one?) so I improvised. The image I used from Cheeky CH12 could be taken for daffodils if you squint, and I used green and gold to simulate the colours. The green is from a set by Royal Cosmetics that I got for Christmas (it's nice enough, just has that lovely smell - you know it aint 3-free...) and Barry M Gold Foil for the stamping. The glitter accent is Milani Gold Jewel Effect with a fine gold holo glitter on top.

I didn't think I'd like this mani, but I actually really do. I had it in my head that green and gold would be too festive, but it really does remind me of spring. The green isn't a shade I'd normally choose for myself either, but it actually suits me somewhat. You learn something new everyday...

33 Day Challenge day 12 - based on a pattern in your home!

Morning!

Today's challenge was to create a mani based on a pattern in your home. Harder than it seems when you don't have a particularly pattern-rich decor! A few stripy cushions, a swirly rug and that's about it. In the end I used my duvet cover as inspiration and came up with this.

Need to work on my right hand clean-up...

Slightly off centre, blurry photo courtesy of my 6 year old!

I was a bit meh with it, but Mr NN liked it so I guess all is not lost.

33 Day Challenge day 10 - Flowers

Morning :)

Today's theme is flowers, and though floral is not really my thing, I tackled this challenge with some bold, graphic flowers in black over a base of Beauty UK Gel FX Cafe Cosmos. Just a simple round centre with tear shaped patterns and it looked great, or so I thought until I looked closely at the pictures! They were a little more wobbly than I initially thought... But nevermind, I'm sure you get the picture!

The good thing about doing a challenge like this is if you don't like something, you have a good excuse to take it off straight away ;)

May Tri Polish Challenge day 1 - Nubs and Roses

See what I did there? Do ya? Ok....let's move on.

So, the tri polish challenge has rolled around again and this month's colours are grey, red and blue. I wanted to challenge myself, so didn't chose "easy" colours - they're all shimmers, fairly dark and not what I'd usually use for nail art. All three are China Glaze - Want My Bawdy (blue), Immortal (grey) and Bend Over Backwards (red).

I'm babying my peely pointers, so still sporting nubs, and I've wanted to do a floral mani for a while. I used Immortal as the base (amazingly pretty grey with blue and pink flecks of yum) then striped with Want Your Bawdy and added the splodgy roses with Bend Over Backwards. The detail on the roses was done with Barry M's new black nail art pen.

There we are, TPC number one for May :) Now I just have to come up with 3 more!

31 Day Challenge - Day 14, Flowers

Hi everyone

Since it's November and it was Rememberance day the weekend, I went for a super simple flower manicure and did poppies. I used Mavala The Elle grey as the base and did the poppies with a dotting tool and the red from the Beauty UK Wild Child Set. The black centres were done with the black from the Beauty UK Midnight Minx set, and it was all topped with Seche. They turned out a little more "blobby" than I expected, but that's ok. My 4 year old knew they were meant to be poppies so I hope everyone else can too!

Lest we forget.

Tomorrow is delicate print so I'm off to look through the stamping plates!

Pink Wednesday - One time, she punched me in the face, it was awesome

I dont think I'll ever run out of Mean Girls quotes to use as Pink Wednesday post titles! Anyway, I have a confession to make, I'm not actually wearing pink today! Not on my nails anyway, I have a pinky top on and pink eye makeup, but my nails are yellow (I'll show you tomorrow!). For now, here's a mani I did a few weeks ago but couldn't post at the time - and because it was a few weeks ago I can't remember what polish I used. It's either 17 Pink Grapefuit or Beauty UK Pink Explosion. I then did the flowers using a dotting tool and Wet n Wild Black Creme, and the middle of the flowers with the same colour as the base.

That's it for today! Nothing really to say about this apart from I wasn't really keen on it so it didn't last long! Love the base colour...if only I could remember what it was...

I'll leave you with a pic of the mini Nail Envy I bought. I thought I'd try a mini before committing to a full size bottle and when I came in the post I literally went "aaaww" when I opened up the package! I'm a sad sap I know...

TOTD - Toes to match my shoes!

Warning, this post contains feet!

I don't know what the big deal about being squeamish with feet is. I mean, we all have them, right? Anyway, I bought some cute faux-Birkenstocks in Primarni (in their sale for £2 may I add!) and thought I'd match my pedicure to them, just for fun! You can tell how exciting my life is, right?

Base colour is Barry M Blueberry Icecream and the colours I used for the pattern are Rimmel I <3 Lasting Finish Fruities Cranberry Zest (dark pink), Barbara Daly Think Pink (mid-pink), Barry M Strawberry Icecream (pale pink), Barry M Spring Green and Wet n Wild French White. Just blobbed some blobs of the pink polish onto some foil with a blob of white and swirled them around a bit with a dotting tool, before blobbing them on in random flower like blobs. Did the same with green and white for leaves. Simples.

My feet aren't that bad, are they? Just don't get it...

I'm not used to wearing such a bright colour on my toes, I usually stick to more traditional toe colours. Before I added the flowers I was worried, but I think they tone it down nicely.

So now to avoid looking like a pleb I have to wear these shoes with every single outfit. Actually they're a bit narrow for my flipper feet and are a teeny bit uncomfy. Fail much?!
